Keep Your Faith In God
Let's talk about divorce shall we. Not just any kind of divorce, but when you get married for all the wrong reasons and everything about it leads you away from Christ. Have you ever felt like the prodigal son and drifted away only to have to return to wise counsel and to Christ?
Let's also talk about prostate cancer. Although this disease has claimed many lives, there is a high survival rate if caught in the early stages of the disease. My guest this week is a survivor!
Let me introduce you to Dr. Alton Kornegay. He will share his divorce and cancer story and will talk about God's restorative power. He will also discuss the importance of being grounded in faith.
Dr. Alton Kornegay is a husband, father, and grandfather, a great grandfather and an Associate Minister at Oak Ridge First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge, North Carolina. He has a Ph.D. in Industrial Education and Technology, an Executive MBA, and a B.S. in Electronic Engineering Technology. Dr. Kornegay is a lifelong learner and at 78 is still investing in himself by taking courses to become more knowledgeable.
Your Gifts Will Make Room For You
Have you ever dealt with low self esteem or is this your current situation? Ever felt like you allowed a situation in your life because you just didn't know how to deflect it. Have you ever been in a situation you knew wasn't good for you, but stayed and paid dearly? If your answer to any of the above is yes, then you should check out this episode of "Restored - A Journey to Healing and Wholeness" entitled "Your Gifts Will Make Room For You."
My guest for this episode is Lisa Jeffress aka Elle Cee Jae. She is my sister friend and we have had many life experiences together. But you know how you can know someone and not really know them. Well, I have learned so much more during our talk together. Lisa is also a poet, artist and an author. Lisa works at her alma mater, Old Dominion University, and loves serving others.
A Very Present Help
Have you ever been in a dark space and felt like God has forsaken you? Have you ever struggled with finding your way? Have you ever wanted to be better, but just didn't know where to start? This week's episode is for you.
My guest this week is Chris Williams. He talks about how he learned the omnipresence of God through his life situations. He discusses the ministry of presence and how learning to wait helped him learn to navigate in the valley. Listen as he talks about the danger of spiritual cliches.
Chris has a BA degree in Sociology, a MDiv and a MA in Christian Ministries from Shaw University; he is a second year resident transitioning into the certified educator candidate program at Novant Health where his focus is generational trauma and family systems theory within the African American culture.
All Things Work Together
Have you ever had so much going on in your life until you feel like life is an empty bucket? Have you ever suffered a loss that has taken you into a dark space? Life is filled with ups and downs and does not always go as we plan, however, God has a way of showing us how to take everything we have been through and use it to bless someone else. Romans 8:28 reads "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose."
My guest this week is Nick Phelps. Listen as he talks about loss, homelessness, and his intentional path to healing. Nick is a husband, father, chaplain, a music producer for film and tv, and also produces music for individuals. Nick is a huge encourager and loves to spread sunshine in the lives of others.
On The Front Line
COVID-19 news update...just reported, "hospitals are full to capacity and are using unprecedented measures to house patients." Remember hearing this at the start of COVID. In fact, it seems that similar situations are happening now. For persons on the front line, this was not just something they heard, this was their reality. Every day was something new and different and a whole lot more of the same. It was/is a very difficult time for workers and their families.
My guest for this Sunday's episode of "Restored - A Journey to Healing and Wholeness" is Dr. Setare Taabodi, then an ICU nurse. A hospital in the parking garage you say....yes, that was happening too! This podcast is one that will surely test your COVID limit. If you really want to know how bad things were from someone who was there...LISTEN TO THIS SHOW!
Dr. Setare Taabodi is a former ICU nurse of 9 years and is now a board certified family nurse practitioner, a clinical professor at the University of Nevada, and a natural medicine health consultant. When she is not working, she is traveling the world with her wonderful fiance, hiking in the mountains, napping on the beach, or feasting on some fresh fruit.
The Pain of COVID
Years ago there was a radio broadcaster named Paul Harvey who would tell stories of ordinary people who did things out of the ordinary. His most famous tag line was "And now, the rest of the story." I told my COVID story, but there were so many holes in it because a story is not complete until all parts have been told. On tomorrow you will hear the rest of the story. And even then, details can be distorted and forgotten because trauma affects our brains in different ways.
My guests today on "Restored - A Journey to Healing and Wholeness are my sisters, Vanessa Jeffries and Vickie Bowe. I have titled this episode "The Pain of COVID." Listen as they talk about how they felt as they suffered and watched their loved ones suffer. Coping with loss is hard and learning to live beyond trauma and grief can be challenging, however, they both say they couldn't have done it without prayer, faith, and the love and assistance of community.
Vanessa is my oldest sister. She is now the glue to the family. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, friend to many, and has one of the biggest hearts I've witnessed. Bright and early every morning, without fail, she sends us a quote and Bible verse to start our day. Some days that message is "right on time," if you understand what I mean.
Vickie is the baby of the family. She was the one closest in proximity to dad and mom and took on the role of checking on them EVERY day. Her tenacity and love for family are two of her stronger characteristics.
Be sure to share this with friends and family and like and subscribe.
Only God
On this week's episode of "Restored - A Journey to Healing and Wholeness" I continue the COVID Chronicles. The episode is titled "Only God."
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:4 - Psalm 118:17 "I will not die, but live..." These are the two verses that gave this week's guest life while she was in the hospital with COVID. My guest is Minister Gail Saunders.
Please listen as she describes how she spoke to God when the doctors didn't give her much hope. Even though she was struggling to breathe, she fought with all her might to say those scriptures that gave her strength for another day.
Gail is a mother, a grandmother, an ordained licensed minister and has been preaching for 24 years, and has worked for child support enforcement for 28 years.
Lean Not To Your Own Understanding
It's time for another episode of "Restored - A Journey to Healing and Wholeness." Calling all people who say that COVID is a hoax, this episode of my COVID Chronicles is for you. If you have been affected by COVID in any way, this episode which is titled "Lean Not To Your Own Understanding" is for you.
If you have gotten sick during this pandemic and were in denial that you had COVID, please listen to this episode. Know this, denying something does not make it untrue. The Bible records that we should "lean not to our own understanding." Y'all know the heart is fickle. And when a fickle heart and a confused mind marry, the result will most likely be separation from the truth.
Listen as this week's guest, Terri Hailstock Carter, talks about how she forgot about self and prayed for others as she wrestled with this disease. Hear as she talks about her denial and the embarrassment of telling others that she had COVID.
Terri is a wife, a mother to two sons, a best friend, and an entrepreneur. She is the owner of Carrie Mae LLC where she makes and sells handmade jewelry. Visit the website at www.carriemae.com. You will not be disappointed!
My Covid-19 Chronicles 1
Covid-19 has affected all of us. If you have not had the disease, you know someone who has. If you have not lost a loved one to Covid, you know someone who has. If you are fortunate to still have your job, you know someone who has lost their job. As the variants continue to arise and people are still affected, I thought I would start my Covid chronicles and share with you my courageous Covid journey. It was definitely bitter sweet as I can live to tell my story, but my dad succumbed to the disease. If you have a Covid story that you would like to share on my show or know someone who would like to share their story, please message me on Facebook at Vernita Bowe and dm me on Instagram at vernitainspires.
Embrace Your Identity
Have you ever been bullied or attacked and you have not done anything to cause it? Have you ever tried to become perfect because you are made to feel less than if you make a mistake? Have you ever lost yourself trying to be what others have decided is your identity? You are not alone. However, Psalm 139:14 records, "Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it." New Living Translation.
Listen as Regina Randle talks about childhood trauma that followed her into adulthood. Regina is a wife, mother, licensed minister, Christian counselor, and a podcaster. Her podcast is entitled "Faith & Theory" and you can locate her counseling services at www.warroomcounseling.com.
Grace Kept Me; Mercy Found Me
Childhood sexual abuse has long-term effects to include guilt, shame, and self-blame. However, there is no condemnation in Christ and as a child you are not responsible for your actions. And, the younger you are when the abuse occurs, the more difficult it is to examine whey you become an adult. Listen as our guest, Christopher Hill, tells of his journey to healing and wholeness. Christopher lives in Abu Dhabi and is a teacher, a worship leader, an author, and a motivational speaker.
