VHEC Podcast

By VHEC Podcast

Using the collections held at the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre, Master's students from the University of British Columbia wrote and edited a podcast series. This podcast series was written in collaboration with the VHEC and as a part of the HIST 595B course at UBC. Each episode is dedicated to a particular theme: Photography, Propaganda, and Correspondence. Bringing together survivor testimonies, and archival and museum works, the episodes are designed to provide listeners with insight into the VHEC collections and how these themes might be studied from a public history perspective.

Tracing Existence: Bearing Witness, Love, and Loss in Holocaust Letters

Tracing Existence: Bearing Witness, Love, and Loss in Holocaust Letters

This episode, hosted by Maya Porebska-Smith, examines Holocaust correspondence. The aims of this podcast are to understand what correspondence is and how it might be used, and how the correspondence-related collection at the VHEC from before, during, and after the war, can be used to understand the Holocaust from a different perspective.
