This month on VHQuest we hang out with local musician and collector Rob Joynes and talk about his passions towards tapes. We chat about the "ethics" of buying tapes off eBay, classroom tube TVs, and the right way to binge your VHS collection. Also, an update in our quest to find the elusive "Cars" on VHS. It's all here, on VHQUest!
It's almost February and we are feeling the love! We sit down with Carson Ball, a collector and media junkie and the man behind @vhsnest on Instagram and boy do we have some questions for him. How much would you spend on a VHS tape? For real? And do you hate The Goonies as much as Ben does or do you just love the Oregon coast too much. Do children in horror films give you the willies and scare you more than slashers? It's all for you Damien on this months episode of VHQUEST!
Please join us on February 11th for our Valentines TapeGod Tuesday! Join us in celebrating our truest TapeGod at this VHS, physical media, and all things vintage market hosted at Vermillion Art Gallery and Bar on Capitol Hill, Seattle. 6-9:30pm. Bringing tapes to swap is encouraged and don't forget to tip the bartender.
Ben sits down for a 1-on-1 with Nick Dudley, founder of VHSLegacy. Nick’s got some amazing tapes and cool toys from all across the world. We talk about tape boxes through the ages, from clamshells to book boxes to the famous Shrek big box. Do you know what BFS stands for? And what’s your favorite netsploitation film? Do you remember what happened 20 years ago? Leonard Nimoy does. And I promise you will be excited for his golden tape. All this and more on another episode of VHQuest!
Hosted by board-certified neurologist Ilene Ruhoy, MD, PhD and Functional Medicine & Ayurveda certified family nurse practitioner Gillian Ehrlich, DNP, ARNP, IFMCP. We'll deliver twice-monthly episodes that highlight ways to support your neurology.

VHQuest hits Season 2! We are stoked for what the new year has in store for us.
This month, Mike and Ben share their summer finds and catch up after the long break. We dive into some odd tapes and how to find them, and bring it back to the christian tapes at your grandparents house. For some of us, a new season means finding a new place to live, and we all have felt the pain of moving all those boxes from under your bed. We recap on some of the latest VHS news, including an oddly costumed human putting odd objects on suburban doorsteps. Pop in that second tape because Season 2 starts now.
A daily scream-along for the modern adult. Partyfish Media presents a new podcast that reminds you to let it all out.
Enjoy & scream along every day in your shower, on your commute, or with a friend! Subscribe now where you get your podcasts!
Your Daily Cathartic Scream premieres on Sept. 2nd from Partyfish Media 🎉🐟
It's our season finale! And we wrap up our summer with great tapes and a great guest. We chat with local Washingtonian Jeff Glinski, lamenting the downfall of video stores and reminiscing on our first R rated sleep-over movies. What was yours? Jeff then turns the tables on us, lobbing a grilling question our way. As August hits, and our season ends, we hope that all of you keep questing, and stay tuned for next fall!
If you want to keep up with us during our break, come to Vermillion Art Gallery and Bar in Seattle, 1st Tuesday of every month, for TapeGod Tuesday! A local tape swap/vintage market in the middle of Capitol Hill. Bring some tapes to sling and we hope to see you there.
Keep On Questing!
Pop Quiz: Do you know what a Michigan party store is? Well our guest this month does! We sit down with one of the coolest Seattleites around, Marc Palm! We talk with him about his work at Scarecrow Video, Fantagraphics Books, and his feature in Issue 8 of MAD Magazine. Marc is the maestro of design and his video cover art will transport you to new worlds.
Mike and Ben chit chat about porns (pornos? pornys?) and the love Tracie Lords. And who would have guessed that a Mormon thrift store would have shelves or orange cassette Nickelodeon tapes? It's all on this months VHQUEST!
*Thank you to all who came to TapeGod Tuesday this month. Please join us in honoring our TapeGod July 9th for another night of debauchery and VHS!
A friend with weed is a friend indeed....but a friend who vapes? You know they got tapes. If you listen close, you may just hear Ben take a rip from his new dab pen while chatting about our newest scores, snatches, and swaps! Then, we sit down with the one, the only, the famous Dan Smoke and chat with him about questing, Anime, and video games. And when it comes to his Golden Tape.....well The Dude abides.
Don't get lost, don't fall behind, don't adjust your tracking, THIS IS VHQUEST!
We just got back from Chicago with so many scores, we had to check a second suitcase. Our quest guided us through the toy aisle of a Village Discount Outlet and met the Bill Nye of Young Earth Creationism. Seattle native, Paul Siple, sits down with us for a morning chat (in our bathrobes) about a unique sorting method, bootleg beta max tapes, and can you guess what his favorite musical is? Come, let's continue our quest...for the best...VHS!
This week we hangout with one of the coolest people you'll ever see driving a hearse around town. We talk about our favorite feel good tapes (what's yours?) and those stay-up-late horror films that shaped our childhoods, and haunted our dreams. Ever seen the 2003 smash hit, Tip Toes? We sure hope not. And would you vote #FreddyforPresident? That's our quest this month, take our hand and join us. You'll never wanna look back. This is VHQuest!
We travel to Spokane, WA to talk with our friend D, and while his cat meows into our mics, and a WWF tape plays in the background, we talk about bootlegging, a church fire, and the 1998 classic "What's Wrong with Cherry?". And why should never get pulled over with a trunk full of bloody melons. We rewind time with this month’s VHQuest!
*We realized that when we said Matrix Reloaded we actually meant Matrix Revolutions. Forgive us.
This month we sit down with Dimitri Simakis (Ghoul Skool), a co-founder of the video blogging and archive website, Everything is Terrible! We talk about their movie tour, T H E G R E A T S A T A N, his strange stage characters, and how he quests. We ask, why Jerry? And is he even in the VHS scene? Plug in and come with us on our quest!
And remember, “if everything is terrible, then nothing is”.
Distribution labels are "KEY" when it comes to questing and collecting. This month we talk about VHS distro, our favorite labels, and swimming in a sea of colored cassette tapes.
We sit down with Ryan Ohm and Jeremy Marsan to talk about their own distribution label Weird Life LTR, and what they are doing to preserve the beauty of VHS...This is VHQuest!
Do you love E.T.? Have you seen Mac and Me? Do you even watch your tapes or are they just for all to see?
Allyson Newland joins us in the garage to chat with us about her tapes and we get into some solid weird puppet alien movies. This is VHQuest.
