8. Government Policies on Health Ft. Councillor Fiona Venner

8. Government Policies on Health Ft. Councillor Fiona Venner

In this episode, we invite back Councillor Fiona Venner to discuss the Government policies on Health and addressing health inequalities. We previously did an episode looking at Health Inequalities, what they are, how they are influenced and the factors affecting them as well as looking at how to tackle these in the UK. We had our guest Councillor Venner and an academic expert, Jolanta Shields. Since that episode in August, we have seen our government backtrack on some of its plans and policies attempting to tackle health inequalities. For this episode, we look at how these changes in our national government affect local governments and third-sector organisations. We ask Councillor Venner what she is doing in her local government currently doing to tackle health inequalities and how difficult this is to achieve when the national government stance does not align. We look at how the national government’s backtrack on this policy affects government at a local level, and what have been the implications. Tony speaks from a third-sector organisation perspective as a company working to improve health, how this backtrack has and will affect Your Back Yard and similar organisations.

A very interesting episode and an incredibly current and important topic so do have a listen!
