ANTIFA Versus Mike Strickland, Part 5: The Documentarian
In March of 2015, Mike Strickland and his friend Chris Cochran met with Academy Award- and Emmy-nominated documentary filmmaker Skye Fitzgerald to discuss concerns over Cochran's participation in a documentary Fitzgerald was making. It started with civil discussion; it ended with Strickland in the hospital with a severely broken arm and Fitzgerald fleeing the scene with two of Strickland's cameras that he'd stolen. It was caught on tape, it was witnessed by multiple people...and the Multnomah County DA still refused to file charges. Listen to the story on today's edition of ANTIFA Versus Mike Strickland. Plus...time is running out on the Trump campaign's chances to prove election fraud in several important states. Oregon will jail and/or fine you for having too big a Thanksgiving dinner, but won't keep ANTIFA rioters behind bars. BLM leadership are starting to regret getting in bed with ANTIFA, and fake hate crimes are on the rise. ANTIFA Versus Mike Strickland, Part 3: The Instigator
In part 3 of our ongoing series on Mike Strickland, the original victim of ANTIFA, we examine the man who caused the entire incident: Benjamin Kerensa, a Portland-based computer programmer, wannabe hacker, community activist, and convicted bomb hoaxer. We also take a look at the incident through the lens of well-known Portland activist Mike "Bluehair," who captured much of the incident and its aftermath on video and who has since defended Strickland's actions, even while disagreeing with his politics. Plus, a post(?)-mortem of Tuesday's election in which Republicans not only likely retained the Senate but gained net seats in the House, even while a Trump victory looks increasingly unlikely thanks to apparent shenanigans in Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania and - most shockingly - at the Fox News election-day boondoggle so embarrassingly bad that some right-wing Tweeters are referring to it as a "third-world s***show." ANTIFA Versus Mike Strickland, Part 1: The Incident
On July 7, 2016, vlogger and independent political reporter Mike Strickland was attending the Don’t Shoot Portland protest event. The filmmaker had gained a reputation for showing the world the worst of radical leftism, including the black bloc protesters and socialist extremists common in the northwest. When he showed up at the protest that day, he had no idea that a conspiracy had been hatched. He was assaulted repeatedly by members of a newly-minted extremist organization...ANTIFA. He drew his legally-carried Glock 26 handgun and leveled it at the attackers, frightening them off without firing a shot. But while he managed to escape the encounter with a few cuts & bruises, his troubles were just beginning. He was arrested on the scene and charged with nearly two dozen crimes. Here, now, is the start of a multi-part series examining the case, and how the justice system failed a man who insists he was merely trying to protect himself. Duty and Discipline with Seattle Riots' "Weapon Snatcher" John Carughi
Weapon instructor & US Marine veteran John Carughi was working as hired security for a local news station in Seattle in March of 2020 during civil unrest related to Black Lives Matter and ANTIFA protests. Amid the chaos, he spotted two of the black bloc agitators loot rifles from a disabled police vehicle. In an act of heroism that was caught live by TV cameras and went viral, he disarmed the goons and likely saved many people from injury or worse. He joins the program today to talk about the incident, his experiences as part of riot security details, rules of engagement, his thoughts on the Kyle Rittenhouse case and more. But first, we'll take a quick look at the big stories of the week, including the death of a Trump supporter at the hands of a different "media security guard," the Amy Coney Barrett confirmation hearings, Yelp's new racism ratings and more.
