115: Whose Fault Is it Anyway and Who Will Take the Blame? Reframing "It's all x's fault"
Find yourself playing the blame game these days? Harboring bitterness, resentment or ill will toward anyone? Crying out:  “After all I’ve done for you!!” Playing this dastardly game whether we blame others or ourselves often leads to unforgiveness. Wisdom beckons us to take a new path instead of walking down the path of offense. Action Items to Take when we long to forgive others or ourselves: Shift perspectives When notice the dip in your emotions or mood - analyze your thoughts Acknowledge the emotion and feeling - what are they indicating that you may value Try to put yourself in their shoes Give them the benefit of the doubt Good to remember our own offenses and how we’re not perfect Recognize you are a work in progress Determine when it comes to unforgiveness whether you want to be RIGHT or FREE Remember Jesus Christ - the not at fault yet declared guilty; the innocent taking all the blame upon Himself so we wouldn’t have to SPECIAL GUEST Candy Surrett Facebook @CandyRenee Email: TARGET SCRIPTURES Matthew 6:9-13 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’” Luke 7:47 “Therefore I [Jesus] say to you [Simon], her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.  We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete. 102: When God Writes the Story: Up Close & Personal with Christian Author Victoria J. Hyla Maldonado
This conversation was so much more than simply chatting about Victoria's prolific career as a writer.   We took a deep dive into the amazing privilege of being Christians. We don't shy away from some really hard questions regarding our faith and the practical application of walking it all out daily!  Our chat took as many twists and turns as the plots in her novels. We unraveled so much more than her love for writing and her passion for Jesus. We discussed how she somewhat logically came to know God and we unpacked the importance of asking questions as you seek Him. You’ll love every moment.  And be sure to catch the entire unedited video conversation or the HIGHLIGHT REEL on YouTube. 098: Seek Forgiveness and Find Goodness, Gladness & Joy (Psalm 32)
We all need God's grace, mercy, and forgiveness--daily and in vastly different ways. Have you done something that continues to plague you or rack your soul with guilt and sorrow?  Are you wrapped up in addiction or do you find yourself tripping up over the same issue again and again?  Or does your mouth get the best of you? Do you say things you regret later? If not now, there will be a point where you bend the knee to God, your Creator and the Lover of your soul.  And He will flood  you with mercy and the sweetest degree of forgiveness you may have ever experienced.  This episode discusses the two quick action items to lead you toward forgiveness: 1) Acknowledge your transgression 2) Confess it to God Taking these two steps from your heart will help you pivot and walk toward sound emotional and spiritual health.  The themed t-shirt for today’s episode is I CHOOSE FORGIVENESS (maybe this means the forgiveness and restoration you are choosing between yourself and God or maybe there is someone else in your life to whom you could extend forgiveness). In either case, choosing to forgive ourselves and others DAILY is a critical mindset -- why not feel empowered today and wear it like you mean it?!  CONNECT WITH VICTORIA HERE: website YouTube Facebook Community Instagram FREEBIE: 5 R’s to taking thoughts captive (my signature process for mind renewal from Christian perspective) Thank you for listening!  Would you like to support the show? 097: Why Do Your Daily THOUGHTS & WORDS Matter? How Can You Best Control Them? (Clubhouse Mastermind on the Words Mindset)
Our words are made up of our thoughts. Thoughts are chemicals and proteins in our brains and they take up space there. Words are the “fruit of your thoughts” (Dr. Caroline Leaf). Based on her book Think, Learn, Succeed we discuss the WORDS MINDSET. According to Dr. Leaf, negative words release negative chemicals or negative quantum energy in the brain which not only allow your memories to become stronger and stronger but also puts your body into a toxic stress mode. During this Clubhouse Mastermind, we discuss these topics and more: The impact of positive and negative speech on our brains and bodies The danger of cognitive dissonance The caution we should take with positive affirmations and declarations Practicing all 7 Steps in my Signature Process to become transformed in your life and by renewing your mind Putting your feelings into words SPECIAL GUESTS ON THE SHOW TODAY: Rebecca C. Wilcox KEY BIBLE VERSES about the words we speak INCLUDE: Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. (Proverbs 18:21 ESV) There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. (Proverbs 12:18 ESV) Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; (James 1:19 ESV) A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. 096: Your Response to FAILURE Is the Key between Winning and Losing in Life (and on the Pickleball Court)
Nobody likes to make mistakes, trip up, fail, or miss a shot. Goofing up once is one thing, but goofing up repeatedly and driving your mind and thoughts into a pretty deep pit is quite another. Today I share a story about my recent experience at the Bluegrass States Games Pickleball Tournament in Lexington, KY, and the five lessons I learned about having the proper mindset and thought patterns during play. Before play, we must be physically ready, rested, and well-energized. During play, we need to: Foster an appropriate response to failure Be present (not outcome focused) Be intentional about each play, each shot Breathe to relax Have fun! After play, we need to assess and learn, and then move on. These same techniques help us in any area of life where we are aiming for success.  Perhaps you’re launching a new business or stepping in to a new job or position;  Maybe you’re just about to have a baby, your first one, and you feel clueless--you only know you want to be an A+ kinda mom;  Perhaps you’ve got this goal in mind, a dream of sorts, that you keep hammering away at, but it seems to elude you.  Whatever obstacles you're facing, the very best place to start is to make sure that you are watching your thought life very carefully.  Proverbs 4:23 says:  Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of true life. In this episode you’ll hear me share a list of about 7-8 toxic thoughts I kept repeating during tournament play that ultimately impacted my emotions and feelings and negatively affected the outcomes of the game for me.  Plus I share with you portions of what I call my listening journal. If you’d like to have a copy of the prayer, you’ll find the link for the free download in the show notes. Also, the special t-shirt for this episode says MADE TO PERSEVERE. 093: My Candid Conversation with Ashish from Nepal on Christianity (Clubhouse Mastermind, Part 2: Controlled Emotions)
This Clubhouse Mastermind on Controlled Emotions took a bit of a twist and became more of a discussion about faith. I was just about to close out the room when a young gentleman named Ashish entered.  You may want to go back to listen to Part 1, Episode 091: Your Mind Creates Your Feelings: Practicing Self-Control to Improve Emotional Health to have a better idea of the backdrop to our chat. He was drawn to the title of the room "The Controlled-Emotions Mindset" because he was personally struggling with handling his emotions. During our chat he shared a personal and life-altering childhood memory that he felt shaped him and had negatively impacting him to this day.  We talked about: the power of the mind and taking thoughts captive,  the Bible,  forgiveness,  our religions and faith and even how to pray.   Needless to say, I was not prepared really for this type of discussion, but I did my very best. I encouraged him to read through Psalm 139 (one of my favs) to begin to unpack just how much God loves him and has a great plan for him.  I wish I had thought about the passage where Jesus's disciples asked Him how to pray (Matthew 6) - this would have been such a simple answer to Ashish's question on prayer.   I would truly love to know your thoughts on this really important episode of the show - perhaps my most important to date!  Please email me at with your feedback! The podcast has now been heard in 35 countries. I feel so humbled so often to think that maybe this tiny little show, broadcast out of Midway, Kentucky, could impact the lives of others so far away.  May God alone be glorified. 074: Top 5 Secrets to Gain Clarity of Thought & Mind through the Spiritual Discipline of Prayer (Psalm 5)
There are mornings when my prayer is so simple.  God, please help me today. I need you.  And then I’m off and running. And this is fine - we don’t want to be legalistic or burdensome when it comes to the spiritual discipline of prayer.  We want to foster the mindset that  prayer is a privilege not a must do.  That we GET to pray, not that we have to pray. WHO should pray?  Anyone and Everyone.  God is your creator.  He designed you to seek. He created a hole in your heart and soul that will never, ever be satisfied unless filled with Him and His truth. He built you with a mission, a purpose here on earth. He created you uniquely with gifts and talents to be exercised to help and serve others. If you don’t know God, if you long to believe but are doubtful that Jesus Christ died on a cross to atone for your sins, guilt and shame, to offer you eternal life and to give you a fresh start, you only need to call out to Him and tell Him. He is available 24/7. He’s listening and waiting for you to pray. WHAT should we pray?  Any thing and everything. There is no topic off limits! WHEN should we pray?  Any time and all the time. David models in Psalm 5 that his prayers went up each morning. But if you’re like I am you’re kinda in constant dialogue with God all day long. Maybe evening time is your favorite time to pray. WHERE should we pray?  Anywhere and everywhere. Some folks enjoy having a prayer room or a prayer closet, that cozy place to commune with the Lord. Truly every place is the best place to pray. We can pray when we’re trapped in bondage and in prison or when we’re walking in the light, yoked to Christ. HOW should we pray?  And this is where it gets interesting. We can order our prayers in the 5 Ps. Not only will we refresh our prayer methods, but we can also gain clarity of thought and mind in the process.   Praise Petition Plead Pause Peace Tune in to today's episode for all the details!   Connect at Shop now for these t-shirts: I CHOOSE PEACE TODAY     I CHOOSE PRAISE TODAY I CHOOSE TO PRACTICE THE PAUSE TODAY

067: The Courage to FEEL: Overcoming Bulimia after 40 with LaurieAnn Campbell
LaurieAnn Campbell, award winning author, blogger, and podcaster shares her journey to overcoming her 30-year battle with bulimia nervosa. According to research from Current Psychiatry Reports Eating disorders, which include bulimia, anorexia, binge-eating, are the most lethal mental health conditions. The Eating Disorders Coalition reports that every 62 minutes, at least one person loses their life as a direct result of an eating disorder.  I snagged both of these resources from Amen Clinics where 160,000 brains have been scanned on patients in 150 countries.  As a preliminary side note to today's episode, Dr. Amen writes this on his blog in an article entitled "What 'The Crown' Got Wrong about Princess Diana and Eating Disorders": "Based on the brain SPECT imaging work at Amen Clinics——people with eating disorders tend to have abnormal activity in certain areas of the brain. Typical SPECT findings in eating disorders include overactivity in the anterior cingulate gyrus (associated with getting stuck on thoughts and behaviors) and basal ganglia (the brain’s anxiety centers), and issues in the parietal lobe (involved in sensory processing and direction sense and often seen in people with body dysmorphic disorder). Healing the brain with a targeted treatment plan is an essential part of the recovery process." As regular listeners know, the Choose 2 Think Podcast we focus a lot on the BRAIN and nueroplasticity.  LaurieAnn emphasizes the importance of accepting the past and moving and looking forward in life.  She encourages those who suffer disordered eating, food fixation, restrictive eating, etc.,  to face their emotions and feelings instead of run from them, to accept the past and live in the moment.  We also chat about toxic vocabulary that keeps those who feel stuck in harmful habits.  Recovered now for ten years, LaurieAnn's mission is to help others, primarily midlife women, to find that peace.  The unconditional love of her sister as well as her faith have proved pivotal aspects of her recovery journey.  You can find LaurieAnn's books, podcast, coaching and social media links IAMTHATGAL.COM. 062: What's bugging you? Let's get to the root of the issue!
This episode offers excerpts from Session 4 of the Fired Up Mind Challenge where we go deep to examine the spiritual and emotional roots that may be producing unhealthy behavior in our lives.  Isn't it time to start living your best thought life? :)  STEPS to get to the roots: 1) Examine the "fruit" you are bearing in your life so you can identify the root 2) Examine your thoughts and self talk to reverse engineer and find the roots NOTE:  Often, bad roots are created when we need comfort...where do you go for comfort? But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 061: Finding Joy after Losing Conjoined Twins at Birth with Janelle Banks [In Loving Memory of Josiah and Josias]
Janelle Banks and I chat about the loss of her con-joined twin sons, Josiah and Josias in 2015.  We start by talking about being moms, podcasting, and how it is to work with her husband. Then we move into the more intimate subject of her experience with her conjoined twin boys.  What gripped my heart during this interview was Janelle's awe-inspiring trust in God and her strong faith and acceptance of His ways, even when faced with losing her babies. Janelle Banks, a former Public School Special Education Teacher and now a Homeschool Mom/Teacher and Homemaker, is wife to Joseph Banks, Jr. and mother of 5 children. 060: Dealing with Our Emotions & Choosing Foods that Impact Our Moods Plus a BONUS segment from 3 Fired up Mind Challenge Participants
What a wonderful lesson about our emotions and mood foods. We start the session* defining what emotions really are and what causes them. We later dive into the brain / gut connection and those foods that affect our thinking, emotions and our moods. And if you listen til the end you’ll hear a few of the participants share their takeaways from this information packed session. Kelly mentions something so important about the fear of expressing our emotions or freezing especially when it is with folks we know and love.  Later April shares such a great life example of a pesky issue she was dealing with – you are sure to relate to her story of the battle between doing and saying what we want to do vs. doing and saying what we don’t want to say and do.   And Julie brings to the discussion an excellent point about how to handle those troubling but REAL life scenarios and events that happen in our lives that happen to be negatively charged.  *Session 3 of the Fired Up Mind Challenge, January 2020.  Stay connected: FREEBIE:  GUT / BRAIN / MIND Connection (list of brain healthy foods to help your moods!)

059: On Suicide with Mental Health Professional Stephen Johnson, LCSW
Discussing the sensitive topic of suicide can be quite sticky at times because it is emotionally charged.  Today's guest Stephen Johnson, a licensed social worker who has been in practice for decades, reduces the charge on this issue by addressing it in a loving and God-honoring fashion.   I basically had only 2 questions for him: 1) Why would someone choose to take their own life? 2) What can the survivors (family members, friends, the community) do to deal with their grief and any guilt they may be feeling? Stephen's counsel drips with wisdom and concern.  In only a few moments of listening, you will notice his sincere desire to help those who are struggling from their own loss of a loved one or who are currently feeling discouraged and hopeless in their lives.  The practical tips that he gives may be just what you or someone else needs to put into play today to turn the corner and walk in a new, life-giving and healthy direction. "You can give without loving. But you cannot love without giving." — Amy Carmichael, missionary to India Today you'll hear from Grace Julius Ssembatya, Editor of UnWoke Magazine and Director and Evangelist with Grassroots Ministry in Mukono District of Uganda in Africa.   Grace will share the heartbeat of his mission:  to not only take the "Good News" to those who would be blessed by it....but to start by lending a helping hand with the practicals first, such as food and clothing.   A quote on the Grassroots Ministrywebsite is from Bono: "God is in the slums, in the cardboard boxes where the poor play house. God is in the silence of a mother who has infected her child with a virus that will end both their lives. God is in the cries heard under the rubble of war. God is in the debris of wasted opportunity and lives, and God is with us if we are with them." Grace will inspire you to love, to go, and to give. 055: When Shame Grips Your Heart and Mind with Adam Reid
Today’s guest is Adam Reid who is currently  Amazon’s #1 best selling author for new releases in adult Christian ministry  with his book called LOVE IS REAL Let me read a few excerpts from the press release: “Love is Real” peels back the mask that allows depression and anxiety to silently grow beneath. Adam Reid has deep roots across Kentucky from his hometown, Clay County, to where he now lives in Midway. He has spent the last seventeen years studying biology while getting his Masters from the University of Kentucky and teaching at Madison Central High School for a decade. Adam battled mental health issues in silence for thirteen years. In Love is Real, he shares the scientifically supported methods to fight the real enemy: shame. You don’t willpower your way through cancer. Your work ethic doesn’t allow you to overcome a heart attack. You don’t refuse to take your diabetic insulin because your faith is enough for you to be healed. Similarly, your willpower and grit won’t overcome mental health struggles. Your mental health is not a sign of personal failure or a mark against your belief in God’s influence over your life. Just because you cannot see anxiety or depression doesn’t make their biological causes any less real. A few key words and phrases to give you a taste of what we discuss include the following:  wearing a "mask" earning salvation obsessed with productivity finding love self-punishment over achievement good deeds workaholism alcoholism depression anxiety shame worthiness avoidance negative thinking vulnerability _______________________________________________ Join the FIRED UP MIND CHALLENGE HERE Join the FIRED UP MIND & CHOOSE 2 THINK COMMUNITY ON FACEBOOK HERE Stay connected with Victoria and get exclusive access to her Subscribers' Corner HERE MERCH DESIGN:  I CHOOSE LOVE TODAY - SHOP HERE ____________________________________________ Find Adam and buy Love Is Real HERE

054: Setting the Proper Foundation for Your Life's Pursuits [food for thought for 2021!] (Psalm 127)
The new year for many folks marks new beginnings.  We set goals.  We dream.  We make resolutions. There is one thing, however, that all goals, dreams, and resolutions must have in order to succeed:  A solid foundation. Think of the foundation for your home or apartment building.  It's probably not visible to your naked eye, but you'd guess it's made of something sturdy like concrete or rock.  Foundations basically serve 3 overarching purposes that you probably already know (and I also think you will start seeing the spiritual analogies here!).  Foundations are designed to 1) bear a load 2) protect from external elements (water, wind, high and low temperatures, etc.) 3) resist movement of earth around it Any endeavor you approach, any goal or dream you're hoping to achieve needs the proper foundation to come to fruition.  Our life's pursuits are based on our purpose--and when we tap into our purpose as Bible-believing contributors to a world that needs to hear the Good News, well, we're off to a really good start!   Tune in today to remind yourself that God is all the energy you need, His Word is the Truth, and His Son the foundation to help you live out your wildest dreams!

053 The Long Journey to "Becoming" Daughter of the King with Rhonda Dragomir
This conversation with renown and award winning Christian author Rhonda Dragomir cuts right to the heart of the matter.   Rhonda Dragomir is a contributor to Chicken Soup for the Soul anthologies, she is co-author of curriculum for the Women’s Impact Network, and if this isn’t enough, she was named the 2019 writer of the Year from Serious Writer, Inc. She and her husband live in Wilmore KY. With personal insight and humor, Rhonda invites her readers to consider a central truth: you are welcomed to the arms of a forgiving God who wants to shower you with His boundless love.  Today we take a deep dive into a concept Rhonda has coined as the ORPHAN HEART. She will walk us through fear, rejection, perfectionism, futility, unworthiness and ultimately how to live like an heir to the King, enjoying the inheritance of peace and joy as God promises His children. Now I know all of this sounds a bit fluffy. So keep listening as we unpack the Orphan Heart – ask yourself as we go if you have any of the symptoms Rhonda describes.  What’s more, Rhonda shares so many stories from her life that help all of this to make sense in practical applications. 046: When God's Name Means Everything (Psalm 8)
In the OT, birth names not only obviously identified someone – but the names exposed character of individuals, represented their identity, and often pointed toward some special meaning. Have you ever researched what your name actually means? It’s fun!  And what about all the names of GOD? I had so much fun in this episode reviewing 16 most popular names of God and studying them again using the online Blue Letter Bible as my resource!  Why are these names so important to us as Christians?  They personalize our God.  We are in relationship with Him. We desire to know him better each and every day!  When we hallow or revere the name of God – we are showing Him such devotion, admiration, dedication, and love.  It is heart warming and mind grabbing to meditate on who God is, His character and His identity.  Join me today for a refresher on Who God Is. 040 Let's hit the path! (Psalm 25)
it’s just that time of year in Kentucky when we go hiking and camping! The nights are cooler and not so stuffy and the fireside is inviting to chase away the chill. We have a trip planned out to Red River Gorge within the next couple of weeks, and I cannot wait.  My favorite part is disconnecting from the world, reconnecting and being present with those I love the most in this life, putting my phone away, letting the dust from all my busy-ness settle down a bit, and slowing down to think and reorient a bit and relax. All the oxygen fills my lungs, God’s beautiful creation captivates my attention and the stress just rolls away. My heart fills up to full again – camping is right up there with a stroll on the ocean beach to me.  Camping has also been a way to bench mark a whole lot of memories, some really frightful like using a gallon of gasoline in a milk jug to attempt to ignite wet wood that was smoldering a bit – yeah, the flames leaped up onto the rim of the gallon jug—it is nothing short of a miracle that our camp site didn’t go up in flames taking with it the camper holding the jug – that is about my worst memory…but there are others to keep me in stitches years later—like the time a bear came sniffing around our tent that one night-- I just know it was a bear!  C'mon, camper!  I know you can totally relate! :) Journey with me today to connect the dots between the essentials we need hiking literally and spiritually(as inspired by David's Psalm 25)!  I found so many great practical applications for our faith: ESSENTIALS for our journey: GUIDE PROVISIONS PROTECTION TOOLS And hey, wanna stay connected? 037: Compassion First with Cheri Scott
Cheri Scott is the Executive Director for Avenues for Women -- a pregnancy center in Frankfort KY offering 100% free counseling and medical services for their clients.  Not only does Avenues for Women advocate for the sanctity of human life in the womb, they also advocate for the sanctity of the life of the woman, young or old, who walks through their doors, takes a seat in their office, and is carrying that tiny life within her.  One of my favorite lines from the show was when Cheri said – when folks ask her if the organization is pro life or pro choice, her response is we are pro woman. I liked this line because to me it puts compassion, care, and love first with the steadfast and prevailing prayer that this kind of love will in part be the catalyst that leads the woman or the couple to a god-honoring decision.  But if it doesn’t, the relationship between the woman and AFW remains and there is still opportunity for future change, God willing.  The heart of the ministry is to educate in a holistic supportive fashion in a nonjudgmental way and lend a helping hand practically and emotionally before, during, and after decisions are made. 036: From Complaint to Praise (Psalm 31)
The 15th most popular psalm is Psalm 31 – and in a nutshell it is a song of complaint and praise (as subtitled in the NASB).  As we examine the psalm we can study the way that David did this and then apply this technique to our lives. David historically was persecuted by Saul. He was treated wrongly, shamed by his enemies, was slandered – all of which had the potential to steal his joy and peace. But he had this unique expressive technique in his writing time and time again where he switched his complaint to praise.  He almost always ends all his psalms reaffirming God’s character and amazing goodness.  It sounds simple, but it requires persistence and endurance.  In this episode, I share a story or two of personal quote “victimization” from theft – and persecution, if you will, from the enemy of my soul. 030: Our Souls Have No Color, Part 3: ENGAGE with these Sweet 16 Action Items
Part 3 ENGAGE!  Let's gooo. So this is where the rubber meets the road. Where our faith and our actions work side by side or at least they’re in the same ballpark! Given that we are examining our hearts often and attempting to become better informed about the issues surrounding racism, are there things we can actually DO? Yep…and in my journey, I’ve made a Sweet 16 list of can-do action items that I’m hoping to implement in my quest to engage. Remember to snag your PDF where you can follow along and take notes about these practical application items. Why do we engage? Because LOVE is a VERB! And because others might see our good deeds and glorify the Father! There are a whole lot of “other-isms” listed it the Bible. Let me give you a few paraphrased: We love one another because we were first loved. We’re to be kind and tenderhearted and forgiving because we have been forgiven. We treat others the way we would like to be treated. If we love God, we must certainly love our neighbors. We’re to look to the interest of our neighbors. We’re also to live peaceably with everyone. Everything we do should be done in love. So I asked myself: How can I engage myself, my family, my community, my culture for GOOD and for GOD?  Listen and be sure to get your free PDF study guide now. 029 Overcoming Addiction with Helen Musick
In today’s episode, we’ll take a look behind the scenes of a fully recovered, former alcoholic. Pastor Helen Musick of LexCity Church opens her heart for us as she shares her candid experience with overcoming addiction. If you’ve ever been caught in the head winds of addiction…anything from pornography, alcohol, other drugs, food, gambling, approval, shopping, you name it …this encouraging message may offer you a fresh line of hope as you are in perhaps the battle of your lifetime.  And if this message is not for you directly, I’m quite certain you know someone in your circles who would really benefit from this word. Please, please share the episode link with your loved ones and friends.  Helen and I pull apart the mental anatomy of addiction – that is the impact of the thoughts and attitudes we may have regarding the addiction and the subsequent harmful or helpful behavior these thoughts and mindsets may provoke. This is a message of surrender and victory all in one.  It's about: The Power of "we" God's goodness a Grace Awakening the blessing of confessing walking in obedience one day at a time hitting the high bottom of addiction refusing to bow the knee to an idol the invaluable cost of choosing peace and obedience the pain and anguish of saying "no more" rewiring the brain developing stronger muscles choosing to be present For more information:  LexCity Church Freedom & Recovery Groups "The Mat": ____________________________________________________ Website: Info for Choose 2 Think when Your Soul Is Hungry digital course: Downloadable freebies, cheatsheets, PDFs Facebook: Instagram: CONTACT: Pinterest: If you've enjoyed this episode, please share the link on social media with your friends!  Please consider supporting this show by clicking the Listeners Support tab below.  Thank you so much!

022: The Power in Your Pen (Psalm 34)
Did you know that journaling has become big bucks lately? There are journals for just about everything nowadays! We have beautifully colored journals for faith, gratitude, joy, prayers, blessings, our list of to-do items, reflections, meditations, Scripture, food, memories, creative writing, poetry, music. You may even keep a visual journal with your artwork, sketches, paintings. Perhaps you keep an audio journal where you dictate and record your voice because the thought of picking up a pen smacks of drudgery to you. The good news is there is no language teacher looking over your shoulder, correcting your spelling or telling you to draw within the lines. Our journals can be authentic, raw, transparent. What’s the big hoorah? Well science is telling us that journaling has been proven to reduce stress, increase immune function, keep your memory sharp, boost your mood, and strengthen your overall emotional health. And how long should you write to enjoy these benefits? Research tells us only about 15-20 minutes a day will work wonders on our minds and bodies, but even one entry a week packs a significant punch on our emotional, spiritual, and physical health! 020: Pivot your thoughts to increase resilience (Psalm 35)
For today’s episode, we’re going to look at one verse from Psalm 35, subtitled in the NASB “Prayer for Rescue from Enemies”  and written by David.   One verse about bones really caught  my attention.  In my research I discovered that bones mean strength in general. Spiritually speaking, it’s the kind of scaffolding strength that supports who we are at the deepest part of our being.  What are your “bones” telling you? What is it that you know at the deepest part of your soul? If you know that God is your deliverer, your refuge, your rescuer, how does that impact how you live each day?
