How to Level Up Your Podcast (or Show) So It's Your Tribe's Favorite with Jay Acunzo
*No BS.* There's ONE thing that can make or break a podcast or video show, and I'm still learning after all these years! :-)  This episode of Video Mojo is much more than just an interview. It's practically an entire workshop. I'm "working in public" and tapping into the impressive showrunner expertise of Jay Acunzo. In this conversation, Jay not only provides immensely valuable realtime coaching regarding the essential requirement for a "pithy, powerful premise" and illuminates his "4 Challenges of the Showrunner's Circle;" but he also explains why participation is better than promotion.  We also discuss how podcasts and shows can be leveraged into short-form video content and when that's appropriate (or not), and much more. My journey toward making Video Mojo an authentically valuable offering for visionary organizations takes a profound pivot here, and I want you along for the learning. If you have a podcast or show, or if you are considering starting one, I recommend this video as essential viewing. Don't miss all the actionable insights. My New Video Production Workflow - Local VIDEO Recording with Riverside.fm - Video Mojo 43
Like everything else, video production ain't what it used to be. In the age of COVID, more and more video producers and podcasters are using Zoom; but what if you want better quality that's free of Internet bandwidth issues and more control when you are editing? For example, what if you could have high-quality, locally-recorded, distinct audio and video tracks automatically uploaded from each participant's computer to a cloud dashboard? Would you like the ability to edit with creative freedom that is not limited by what is recorded by Zoom or other streaming software?  I also see the benefits of having this high-quality video source material available for the production of shorter videos for social media.  That's why I produced this video using http://riverside.fm and interviewed the Chief Marketing/Growth exec of Riverside, Abel Grünfeld about Riverside's innovative remote video production platform that locally records individual video tracks of virtual recording sessions. Why TikTok is an Important Marketing Opportunity
Looking for the biggest possible “bang” for your social media, video marketing time & money? One word: TikTok! It’s not just for kids. With the pandemic, more and more businesses are finding that—not only are adults spending time on TikTok—it has distinct advantages for business marketing. Who knew? In this special edition, “mini-webinar” episode of Video Mojo, video below, I spell out four solid reasons why TikTok is heads and shoulders above other social media marketing platforms. (And the fact that TikTok is “all video, all the time” is not even one of them.) Despite the fact that many marketers don’t take it seriously, in many ways, TikTok represents the future of social media communications and video marketing in particular. And, it’s also a strategic fact that you can gain more visibility on TikTok faster, in an organic way, than on any other social media platform. The value for your future in marketing and the visibility opportunity are just TWO of the reasons that TikTok is an important business marketing opportunity. Don’t miss this video: It might be some of the most valuable and actionable social media marketing insights that you will hear this year. Just sayin’. ;) Video Mojo welcomes your questions and comments in real time during Video Mojo LIVE! which streams on Fridays at 10am PT / 1pm ET on our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/jonleland and via our Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/combridges.fb/live Please mark your calendar and join us. How to Create the Ultimate Content Marketing Mix: Live Streaming, Social Video Series, & Podcast
When I started my video blog, I didn't know I would be inventing a combination of live streaming event, social media video series, and podcast that I now call a WebShow™. In this special edition of Video Mojo that I call "The WebShow-WebShow," I pull back the curtain of what it takes to create what I believe is the ultimate form of content marketing, especially if you leverage the content assets that are created along the way. I detail "what is a WebShow?" and I also describe the specific software and hardware that I use to produce it. I also include a section on "Program Development" that covers the creative considerations necessary to produce a good show. I hope this is useful to you. Yes? How to Tell Difficult Stories that NEED to Be Told - A Fresh Take on Vulnerability, Storytelling, & Engagement
It has been said that "what's in the way is the way." For this reason, telling your most difficult and vulnerable stories can have healing and engaging effects beyond anything you might imagine. In this episode of Video Mojo, I got to interview master coach & author, Andrea J. Lee and we had an intimate conversation about authenticity and vulnerability, including real life examples of what can happen when you tell the stories that NEED to be told. One example of this phenomenon is a 2-minute video that Andrea did for UpWorthy that got over 2 million views... without trying! If you are interested in going deeper with your storytelling in order to make a more human connection with your audiences, don't miss this! In addition this "Collaborative Conversation," every Video Mojo episode includes a quick commentary called "Tee It Up" and "Luscious Links" resource recommendations, as shown below. Storytelling as Wayfinding During Uncharted Times: Jon Leland with Michael Kass
I admit it. I'm proud of the quality of content that's coming out weekly via my Video Mojo WebShow™. It's now much more than a video blog & podcast: It's a fully-produced live, weekly webcast & formatted 1/2-hour program with awesome guests. This week's episode, recorded live last Friday, powerfully illuminates why storytelling is so much more than a "buzzword du jour." If you understand the power of story, you can create a more engaging and vibrant social media and video presence. To do that, you have to go beyond storytelling as a formula. Done well, story can open doors to whole other levels of engagement. And, it can help you find your way through the "uncharted times" that we are all living through, while revealing a path to more meaningful media. If you're ready to use story as a wayfinding tool (or at least ready to discover what that means), don't miss this third "Collaborative Conversation" between myself and storytelling expert, Michael Kass. In addition this "Collaborative Conversation," every Video Mojo episode includes a quick commentary called "Tee It Up" and "Luscious Links" resource recommendations, as shown below. Tips for Deepening Your Social Media Presence with actress/coach, Julia McNeal
There's so much more to authentic social media and video than selling and persuading. A truly meaningful presence is more about engagement and relationship building. In order to deepen that experience, we touch a shared humanity that is very personal.  As Julia McNeal illuminates in this episode of Video Mojo, that's what's required if you want to be truly authentic; and, the really GOOD NEWS is that along with this deeper level of engagement comes a recognition of a shared humanity that is a service to everyone you touch. Go Beyond Content Marketing & Storytelling. Conversations Are Now King. - Video Mojo LIVE! Webcast
Our mission is to help you have a more engaging social media presence and a more vibrant video presence. Some call this “content marketing.” Others like to think there’s a silver bullet in “brand storytelling.” In this week’s edition of Video Mojo LIVE!, digital marketing strategist, Jon Leland of ComBridges - https://www.combridges.com - reveals this program’s new 4-part format and interviews master storytelling coach and the author of “Narrative Coaching,” Dr. David Drake and they explore how authentic storytelling is really a conversation, not a one-way communication, like most marketing. Zoom Meetings: Learn the #1 Thing That Can Make Your Virtual Gatherings More Powerful & Productive
In the age of coronavirus, Zoom Meetings have become an essential way for groups to connect; but making these virtual gatherings powerful and productive is not so easy. Many people are still learning what it takes to be present without causing distractions. In other words, for groups larger than a half dozen, technical facilitation is required. In fact, having a dedicated technical support person to guide everyone in how to participate without detracting from the group's energy can make a huge difference. Beyond Digital Marketing Best Practices: Email Is Your #1 Marketing Tool (but not the way you think)
Now, more than ever, it's essential to do what works. Why would you want to do anything else!? This episode of Video Mojo explains why email works so well in today's digital marketing mix. I'm Feeling Vulnerable. Can It Really Be 50 Years Connecting People Who Care: Lessons from 1970 That Still Matter
I'm feeling vulnerable as I step into owning my history as a media innovator. Can it really be 50 years?! In doing this week's Video Mojo, I discovered that "Connecting People Who Care" is more than just words for me. It's a thread that somehow flows through all of my work. The meaning of this phrase is also important because it invites us all to take action, to make a difference with what we do, to step into the spotlight and in front of the camera, and to make our own media and our own news. This week's episode unpacks all of this in less than 5 minutes and also has some pretty interesting photos from back in the day. :-) Enjoy. 3 “Guiding Light” Principles for Better Digital Engagement in 2020
I'm guessing that you want to work smarter, not harder. That's why I ask: What does it take to put a solid foundation under your content marketing? If you're someone who hates manipulative selling in marketing as much as I do, then I'll also ask: Can online marketing really be done with authenticity and humanity? And, because I know we all want real results, you might want to know: What's the biggest "low hanging fruit" or missed opportunity in online marketing? These key questions are answered in this 4-minute video/podcast with three fundamental, "guiding light" principles that will ensure that your social media, video and other forms of content marketing or digital engagement strategies actually make the real connections, the kinds of connections that lead to authentic and sustainable business relationships. The Beyond Storytelling Interview: How to Find the Story that WANTS to Be Told
Sadly, the meaning of storytelling has become clouded by the fact that it has become a marketing buzzword du jour. AND, as my expert guest Michael Kass says, "Story is real!" Story is so real in fact that, if you listen to yourself carefully, you might find that there's a story in you that WANTS to be told. This episode of Video Mojo is different. It's longer than usual because it's an interview/conversation with healer, facilitator, and coach, Michael Kass, who encourages us all to plumb the depths of storytelling. As you will see and hear, this approach is something quite different from the more mercenary and manipulative, "storytelling-as-a-marketing-strategy." Michael aligns with this program's core value of being more human and a commitment to cultivating what it takes to build more authentic relationships and community. Sound good? Video Mojo is an (almost) weekly video blog (vlog) and podcast hosted by award-winning media innovator, Jon Leland ( https://combridges.com ). 3 Reasons Why a Website Is NOT a “Web Presence” & What It Takes for EFFECTIVE Digital Marketing
Fact: Websites are totally over-rated as marketing tools. They aren't even an "online presence" anymore. If you're living in the past and think all you need is a website in order to be "present" online, then this podcast is for you. Online marketing or digital marketing is constantly changing, especially if you are interested in (or committed to) making authentic, meaningful connections with your prospects, customers, clients, or community. In order to create a relationship, your marketing cannot be "one and done." You need to have an on-going conversation with your audience. In marketing terms, "multiple touches" are required. For this reason, a consistently valuable social media presence and equally valuable email communications are essential.  This episode summarizes 3 key reasons why a website alone is no longer an effective strategy for online marketing. It also offers a fresh approach that can help you build more meaningful connections online. Enjoy! With Video Marketing, It's Not "How To Distribute?" It's "How ELSE To Distribute?"
This week, I’m excited to share about the power of getting your message OUT. We all want more people to see, hear and appreciate what we offer, right? If you do, please remember that producing your marketing videos (and great content in general) is JUST A START! A very common mistake is to think that once you’ve posted whatever you’ve created on YouTube or Facebook, then you’re done. Not true! Getting creative with distribution—or what Jay Baer calls the “amplification layer”—across multiple social media networks, in a variety of forms helps to leverage the power of what you’ve produced and gives your content much greater reach and impact. That’s why I’m exploring new kinds of distribution, from “videos as podcasts” to IGTV (Instagram TV). Listen please. I'll explain. LINKS Find out more about Jon Leland and his digital engagement agency, ComBridges at http://combridges.com  And, if you want to get yourself or your company/organization on an empowering fast-track to creating and distributing social video posts successfully, please check out our Video Launch Pad. And here’s the link to the Jay Baer video blog post on “Content is Fire. Social Media is Gasoline” that’s referenced in the video above.
