Welcome back to another episode of Live2Inspire. My guest for this week is Corey Hirsch!

A former NHL Goaltender, NHL Goaltending Coach, and Olympic Silver Medallist, Corey Hirsch was featured in an article in the Players Tribune opening up about his struggle with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder while on the rise to a promising career in the NHL. He has since dedicated himself to ending the stigma of mental health and becoming the National Youth Ambassador for the Center for Addiction and Mental Health. Hirsch helped create and organize the CAMH program Gamechangers, geared to get mental health info into the hands of our youth.

Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Corey was drafted in 1991 by the New York Rangers. He spent three years of his early career with New York where he was an active roster member when the team won the 1994 Stanley Cup. In April of 1995 he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks where he played the majority of his NHL games all while hiding and battling a mental illness.

Live2Inspire S2E3: Shelina Mawani, Co-Founder of Nana's Kitchen & Hot Sauce

Live2Inspire S2E3: Shelina Mawani, Co-Founder of Nana's Kitchen & Hot Sauce

Welcome, friends, to another episode of Live2Inspire! My guest this week on Live2Inspire is Shelina Mawani, Co-Founder of Nana's Kitchen & Hot Sauce.

Growing up in a small town in Tanzania, big opportunities are far and few. Everyone is busy trying to make their own ends meet and making something of yourself requires another level of determination and unequivocal relentlessness.

From a young age, Shelina Mawani knew she wanted to make difference in the world. She began her working career, helping her father manage a series of local boutique hotels; soaking up her business acumen and learning valuable lessons, while she built a hospitality brand. In 1979, she landed herself the role of youngest Chairperson, for the Lioness Club, an internationally renowned organization dedicated to helping people in their communities through charitable causes.

In her first project, she was able to set up diagnostic camps for locals to create much needed awareness for Leprosy and also assisted in sending 8 children to England for heart murmur treatment, not available to them in Africa. This is where she first realized her successes in business would be the gateway to serving others and making her impact in the world. These same principles would continue to develop and build, then follow her to the complete opposite side of the world to Burnaby, BC; where she and her sister, Nasim, first opened their small family restaurant to celebrate the tastes of home they missed so much.

In 2000, this ambitious endeavour turned restaurant into a 1000sq samosa manufacturing facility, which has now grown to over 27,000sq, with room and plans to grow. Nana’s Kitchen today is a multi-million-dollar business producing over 25,000 handmade samosas every single day, shipping all over North America, landing in local grocery store deli sections and restaurants.

Understanding firsthand, the struggles that come with immigrating to a new country, Shelina makes sure she helps to create job opportunities for people who may not even know the English language. Employing a growing staff of 60 people, she has helped impact countless families as they integrate into their new communities far away from home. Her footprint in her new community and globally is immeasurable and she doesn’t cease to forget where she came from. Shelina is a philanthropist at heart as well as through her actions.

Rightfully deserved, Shelina has been honoured with countless recognitions over the years such as, 2014 BC Ethno Canadian Entrepreneur Award. 2015 Multicultural Business of the Year by BC Provincial Awards. 2016 Business Woman of the Year by Times of Canada, 2016 Best Export Business by Surrey Board of Trade, 2017 Shelina was invited to travel to India by the Women Economic Form and was awarded Woman of the Decade in Innovation and Enterprise. 2018 She then went onto becoming the only Canadian woman who was awarded the Bharat Saman Award, at The House of Lords in England. Her hard work has been highlighted in many TV programs, newspapers and magazines over the years. Some of her most recent and notable achievements is the Bank of Montreal recognized her by Celebrating Women for Community and Charity Giving. She has been listed as Top 15 Women Owned Business in BC.

Live2Inspire S2E2: Yvette Lehmann, Certified Prana Yoga Teacher

Live2Inspire S2E2: Yvette Lehmann, Certified Prana Yoga Teacher

Are you ready for another episode of Live2Inspire?

Please help me give a warm welcome to my guest this week, Yvette Lehmann!

Yvette started her journey with curiosity about life, consciousness, and spirituality. Practicing yoga gave her ways to connect the physical body and the psychological inner being. She believes that without the emotional and mental health there can never be true physical health. It is the balance of all, that brings one back to their natural state of completeness.

She is trained and certified in iRest Yoga Nidra. The understanding and application of this system changed the way she practices and teaches yoga. She applies the system to help and guide people suffering from trauma, grief, stress, anxiety, and addictions.  Her Classes, Workshops, Meditations and Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training programs integrate the wisdom of the traditional 8 limbs of Patanjali Yoga Sutras, the Upanishads and the scriptures of the Bhagavad Gita.

Yvette weaves her 20 years of experience of all the different modalities into the physical yoga practice by helping the students understand better where the traumas are stored in the body and how to navigate themselves to where they want to be. Her workshops will guide the students to learn what tools will help release the traumas hidden in the body. She offers guided group meditations to help the students apply the tools to free the traumas. She gives one-on-one sessions to go deeper in discovering the root cause of the trauma from within.  Her heartfelt desire is to help all who seek to understand and know their true Selves other than the superficial ego self.

Those who are looking for more can benefit from her Teacher Training programs, retreats, and intensive workshops.

She lives in Kamloops with her son and serves at the Happyness Center.

Jo Berry is a runner, mom, business owner, and philanthropist. The first thing she says each morning before her feet hit the floor is: "thank you,” and "please let me be of service to someone today." Taking these few moments at the very beginning of each day is the key as it sets her intention out to the world that there is no room for self-importance. Jo truly believes that life is about what you give to others each and every day.

Jo's mantra is "Movement is Change," a powerful statement that means movement on all spheres of health: physical health, spiritual health, emotional health, and mental health. Jo is best known for: Boogie the Bridge - a charitable fun run which to date, has raised over 1 million dollars for local Kamloops charities, and RUNClub - run/walk training group that has made runners out of those who never dreamed it possible. These two powerful programs integrate emotional and physical health, and have inspired thousands through her energy, enthusiasm and support.
