Out of Our Vulcan MindsNov 07, 2021
Episode 18: Errand of Mercy with Sophia Halpin
We're back with another episode and another special guest! We rope another friend into our bullshit and talk about another episode of the show we all know and love - Star Trek: The Original Series. This one's a little rough around the edges (which, if you've made it this far you're used to) and is just like walking into the weird corner of a house party where three people you kinda know are talking about something you're vaguely familiar with - but in a fun way~
Sophia doesn't have a podcast or anything to plug - so just send her good vibes.
Episode 17: The Devil in the Dark
Yeah okay it's been a minute. We have our reasons, but we took a lil break and now we're BACK BABY. This episode has an anthropomorphised rug as a monster, so get ready for that. Also rate us five stars and write a nice little review because we're in lockdown now and need all of the positive reinforcement we can get. (Please note - this episode was recorded BEFORE the Sydney lockdown so don't report us to Crime Stoppers or whatever)
Episode 16: The Squire of Gothos
OKAY, yes, we took a brief hiatus. And yes, I'm uploading this on a TUESDAY, and SURE we're going back to watch an episode we previously skipped, and I guess we were pretty light-on with the editing. But you know what? This is our damn podcast and you're just living in it. (There's also a brief Harry appearance for the fans xoxo)
Episode 15: Space Seed
We go on a few tangents and it gets a little heavy, but what do you expect from a Star Trek episode about eugenics?
Episode 14: The Return of the Archons
Would you like to listen to your two drunk friends trying to remember something that happened 20 minutes ago? Well then this is the episode for you. This episode is a fun time, but is also making us regret putting our last names on the pod. Rate us five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Episode 13: Tomorrow is Yesterday
In this chaotic episode Lucinda and Ellie give two friend shoutouts, go on a couple of tangents, and try and wrap their heads around this complicated episode.
Episode 12: Arena
Episode 11: Balance of Terror (with Charles O'Grady)
This episode has a special guest! Charles from the podcast 'Pitch Shift' joins Ellie and Lucinda to talk about this episode of Star Trek, where we get to meet the Romulans. It's a great gay time.
Listen to Pitch Shift wherever you listen to Out of Our Vulcan Minds!
Episode 10: The Menagerie Parts 1 and 2
It's a bumper episode this week! Ellie and Lucinda tackle this two-parter which has a lot of Spock, some funky aliens and an ethical dilemma. What will the crew of the Starship Enterprise do in this jaunt? Listen and find out!
Also rate us five stars guys, it's not that hard.
Episode 9: The Corbomite Maneuver
Alright so we skipped a couple of eps. So what? This is our podcast and we can do what we want. This one has a funky alien in it too so get with it. Rate us five stars we deserve it. xoxo
Episode 8: Miri
Honestly, we had hoped that Mudd's Women was the worst Star Trek could get. We were wrong. Also, a pandemic happens again, because it's 2020 and this is all we know.
Episode 7: What are Little Girls Made of?
This episode has all of the hallmarks of a classic Star Trek Episode: philosophy, romance, comedy, technobabble, twists, turns, and phallic stalactites. Lucinda and Ellie dive into this celestial adventure.
Episode 6: Mudd's Women
This somewhat chaotic episode covers all of the ground you know and love: we're still bummed out that Leonard Nimoy is dead, Ellie has to explain what the Starship enterprise does again, and Lucinda still can't help calling planets 'islands'.
NB: Since recording Lucinda is now employed, so disregard her pleas for employment
NB2: We had a fire going during the record (yes - we're fancy) so please forgive us for the cracking in some bits - we're still learning about how good microphones are.
Episode 5: The Enemy Within
Does everyone have good and evil inside themselves? Could these two parts be separated into two distinct 'selves'? Would your 'good' self want to bone your 'evil' self? Lucinda and Ellie discuss all of this and more on this ~philosophical~ episode.
Episode 4: The Naked Time
In this incredibly relevant episode, the Starship Enterprise experiences a pandemic onboard the ship which is managed poorly (wow can you even imagine?). Lucinda and Ellie have a really great time running through this extremely silly episode and explore all the Star Trek crushes along the way.
Episode 3: Where No Man Has Gone Before
In this episode, Captain Kirk and the team have to figure out what to do when some ship members get super powers. Lucinda and Ellie get stuck into this ~serious~ episode of Star Trek and discuss whether or not it hits the mark.
Episode 2: Charlie X
The team find a mysterious super teen who is super horny (in space). Lucinda and Ellie navigate this problematic ep.
Episode 1: The Man Trap
The (kind-of) first ever Star Trek episode! Lucinda and Ellie discuss the crew of the Starship Enterprise, horny men, and a salt vampire.
Episode 0: Trailer
Lucinda and Ellie are two friends. Ellie has watched (almost) all of Star Trek and Lucinda is a cool jock who doesn't mess with nerd stuff. They're going to watch all of the original series of Star Trek together. Hilarity will hopefully ensue.
