Embrace the Pain Points in Your Life – Frank Sinclair

Everybody in Colorado Springs (just about) knows Frank Sinclair. He is the Chief Encouragement Officer (CEO) for Dream Again. If you are saying to yourself, “Yeah, he probably had a charmed life to earn that kind of popularity,” think again. Inspired by his three kids' business success he decided to create Dream Again at 61. He experienced more challenges and pain in his life than a lot of people. He just learned to leverage them. He’s coined a term that should probably appear in the dictionary someday: relationomics. He declares, “Relationships drive business and commerce. They are critical to keeping you moving forward.” There is a whole lot more to his story. You have a lot to gain by listening to this podcast. Frank can be reached at the following:

Change the Plan Not the Purpose - Pamela Henkle

Change the Plan Not the Purpose - Pamela Henkle

So many words of wisdom were spoken by Pamela in this podcast that it was difficult to choose the title. Any number of things she said would have been perfect. Pamela went through episodes of a lack of confidence and assurance within herself. For example when a rude man looked her intently in her eyes and told her she was a joke in the faith community and that she should go home and take care of her children. She is anything but a joke. It was certainly a blow to her but fortunately for us she didn’t let it keep her down. Someone else came along later and told her she needed to be a trailblazer because she was ahead of her time. That’s the counsel she chose to listen to. This woman is so inspirational, you really must listen to this podcast. Once you do you can check out her own podcast where you will learn she is the founder of Purpose by Design as well as a pastor of Victory Celebration Church.

Work Your Grit – Delilah Alvarado

Work Your Grit – Delilah Alvarado

If you like to be inspired, pumped, and motivated listen to this podcast. Delilah learned many awesome lessons as a little girl but still grew up with a self-perception that would weigh her down and absolutely would not serve her purpose. She speaks of her family’s poverty and the hard work it created for every family member. But that was how she learned the importance of effective leadership and that when you are a part of a team, you will have to develop the skill of being able to follow as well as being able to lead. She believes everyone will be called upon to lead at some point. Despite the negative self-beliefs, she always knew she was a fighter, had something to say (just didn’t know what that was), and knew that she could get to the person she wanted to be with hard work. She believes in movement and states “don’t get comfortable with a success you weren’t designed for. Keep moving.”

Make What’s Important a Priority - Allison Jackson

Allison has been passionate about nutrition and fitness her whole life having struggled with her weight in her youth. She would cover up with a T-shirt to swim because she didn’t want to expose her body. This also caused major self-confidence problems. The result of preparing and performing on stage resulted in an exponential boost in her self-confidence. The “new” mind spilled over in all aspects of her life. From Prejudice to Philanthropy - Rich Parsons

From Prejudice to Philanthropy - Rich Parsons

Rich was a preacher's kid and grew up knowing the bible truths. But somewhere along the way, he was infected with a prejudicial mindset. He could be around other ethnicities but he came to the awareness that he didn’t treat all people the same. After entering the military, he went to a bar-b-q that was predominantly black people who were making slurring remarks to him and that is when he became aware of how hurtful not treating people right could be. He knew he had to change that mindset. He deliberately started putting himself in situations where people of color and sexual preferences that he didn’t agree with congregated. He learned that people are just people. You don’t have to agree with them to treat them with care and respect. While in the military he coached and mentored people in the areas of leadership, communication, and human resource management. He thus became familiar with John Maxwell and determined that he wanted to take his certification course and do some type of mentoring and coaching for a post-military career. The pandemic spawned an “E” magazine to provide a platform for businesses to share their voice and market their businesses which has become well known. Currently, he is developing a mindset course and a transition course called Become an Interview Rockstar. (Hint: It’s about beefing up your job interview skills.) With his experience, Rich can be of help in numerous areas of life. If you know you need help here’s how you can reach him:

Don’t Let the Opinions of Others Discourage You - John Vuong

Don’t Let the Opinions of Others Discourage You - John Vuong

One of four kids, John’s family immigrated to Canada from Vietnam. Hard work was what they knew and was their normal. It was probably what made him such a strong, energetic, determined guy from his youth. He started in sales with a paper route. He studied business finance in college with one year as an exchange student in England. For ten years he sold ads for Yellow Pages. It allowed him to build relationships with many small-medium business owners. He learned that there is not much return on investment with printed ads. He knew early on that his purpose was to take care of others by adding value. So he decided to help small-medium businesses dominate their niche markets in their local environments by digital advertising of which he knew nothing. He had to learn SEO and how to get a business to show up on Google’s first search page. He has built his own successful business by helping others to be successful. An all-around win-win situation.

He can be found at local.seo.com.ca

His Podcast is Local SEO Today

Coming from Heart - Titus Jordan

Coming from Heart - Titus Jordan

Titus is a very laid-back individual and quite successful. How did he find himself there? He practices what he teaches. He is a business coach. He utilizes an algorithm to show how and where business owners can increase their bottom line. He is also a personal coach and has many effective tools there as well. Here are some of his thoughts:

  • Dreams need to be exercised
  • What dream or vision would you have if you knew failure wasn’t possible
  • Emotion (Passion) is the secret sauce that moves the dream forward
  • Strengthen yourself physically, mentally, spiritually
  • Daily positive affirmations: Don’t just write them. Speak them out loud

He purposed in his heart that he would be an example of all those and more and so he is. During the pandemic lockdown, he discovered an artistic talent he didn’t know he had which is taking off now. He has been a part of an art show from which he was commissioned to do a piece for someone. Also, a documentary has been filmed about him (not released yet). If you believe you can learn success and confidence from someone who has it, maybe you should talk to him.

The Musical Mindset - Stephen Kohler

The Musical Mindset - Stephen Kohler

You have got to tune into this podcast! Stephen is a musician and an executive coach. “What does one have to do with the other?” you ask. The answer to that is everything. His premise is that people have stopped listening. We get so caught up with ‘get it done’ deadlines that we’re out of touch with the most important things. He has a three-step formula for training people how to listen. 1) Listen to yourself 2) Practice listening to those around you 3) Connect with those in your surroundings (audience).

Stephen uses music to create exercises to train people how to be better leaders in their organizations and life. It is brilliant. Musically minded people will get it right away. Non-musical people may take a little longer, but they, too, will get it and be transformed by it. I could say so much more but I don’t want to give away the good stuff. Just tune in. You will be glad you did.

Experiencing Life - Damon Nailer

Wow! Do you think you’ve heard it all, experienced it all and now you know it all? Think again. Damon has a wealth of knowledge and understanding because he has never shied away from any opportunity that has presented itself to him. After receiving a BA in education, Damon taught elementary school. Then he was tugged in different directions of public speaking, writing, and music production. From there he has branched off into many spaces that seemingly have no connection but they actually are connected. “Fear and pride inhibit people from exploring and launching themselves on the avenue of self-discovery. It is best to be receptive to everything that comes along your path.”

Tidbits from Damon

  • Don’t accept “no”. No means New Opportunity, Next Option, and Not Over
  • Every opportunity creates connections valuable to your future endeavors
  • Organization is the key to success in every endeavor
  • Network – surround yourself with the strengths and talents of others
  • Be a constant student of life
  • Dig deep to find out why you were created, why you’re here, and what you supposed to do

You've Got to Move It Move It - Ben Reuter

One area in healthy living where people can have a lousy mindset is in the area of physical exercise. Ben’s passion is movement. He has a Ph.D. and teaches at a university in Pennsylvania. A torn retina prevented him from the physical movement he loved. That was a major challenge for him. Want to change your mindset? Here are some things he says about movement:

  • It’s fun
  • Get great ideas so you can problem-solve
  • Improves your quality of life

Here’s how to get started:

  • Hook up with a friend - it will create accountability for you
  • If you have kids, create a way that they can experience the fun of movement
  • Start small - you will be discouraged if you don’t and you can injure yourself
  • Find “your” time of day. Some are better in the morning, some in the evening
  • Hire a personal trainer for one or two sessions if only to talk

Ben recommends a practical approach to fitness. You can find him by googling: Moving2live, or Fitness lab Pittsburgh, or Instagram@fitlabpgh where he posts the podcasts when they will be coming up and his one-minute movement tip hot videos. Give him a try. You’ll improve yourself even more!

The Truth Shall Set You Free! - Robin Sacks

The truth shall set you free! Robin is a confidence coach. She teaches people how to get out of their heads so they can actually live their life the way it was meant to be lived. After being a broadcasting journalist for NBC and ABC, Robin became disenchanted by the negative spin put on everything reported in that arena. She understood the negative is what held people’s attention. Her primal need to help folks see the weather forecast as an 80% chance of sunshine as opposed to a 20% chance of rain led her into doing what she does today. The truth she speaks in this podcast will resonate with everyone and inspire you to buy her book: Get Off My Bus!: How to Get Clarity, Get in the Diver’s Seat, and Get Moving in Your Life. She advises that you ask yourself five thought-provoking questions and be sure to answer them.

  • Who’s driving my bus?
  • Where is my bus going? It’s important to have direction in your life.
  • Who’s on my bus and who needs to get off my bus?
  • Who needs to get on my bus
  • Who’s bus do I need to get off of?

Selling Your Story - Dale Roberts

Selling Your Story - Dale Roberts

Ever had a teacher that was totally boring and another that was, energetic and inspiring? Well, Dale Roberts is the second experience. He is a best-selling fitness author on Amazon but he is doing something different now. He teaches people how to write and self-publish books that sell. With a position as an activities director for a senior complex with growth potential, he decided to write a book. It brought in a little over $24 upon which he decided to quit his job and write full time. A gutsy move, but he didn’t feel panic until he had gone through all his savings. He then consulted a coach. In about six months he was up and running. He kept thinking it was a fluke but it just kept going. His youtube channel got started when he tried to save himself by answering the same question one time in a video rather than a gazillion times individually. It grew into the Youtube channel: “Self Publishing with Dale”. This gentleman has the heart and passion of a servant. He love’s connecting people with people and turning competitors into collaborators. If you ever get a chance to talk to him you will find that his passion just oozes out of him.

Lose the Façade - Kelley Sgroi

Lose the Façade - Kelley Sgroi

Talk about a life full of trouble with a somewhat belated turnaround Kelley’s story is just that. From her early childhood, she experienced very negative things and carried that mindset into her adult life. She believed in order to be acceptable she had to be perfect. Along the way, she developed an eating disorder, got married, and had triplets which she found very challenging to handle only she wouldn’t admit that to anyone. She had to keep up appearances of being perfect. While in her forties she was diagnosed with breast cancer. That took a year-long chunk out of her life while she endured all the usual therapies for breast cancer. At that point, after twenty-five years of being a dental hygienist, she decided she wanted to help women and earned a master’s degree in counseling. Even as a therapist, she experienced some very negative things like a narcissistic husband who took her passport and left her stranded in a foreign country. She determined she needed to decide as to whether she would continue to be victimized by her circumstances or step up and create the existence she really wanted for herself. She worked with a coach who told her that the negative self-belief she carried inside her was inviting all the negative stuff into her life. Anyone who has done any self-assessment and tried to turn the direction of their life around will for sure identify with her story. Those who have not done so will be inspired to take a look at themselves and set off on a new journey of their own. For help and guidance, Kelley can be found very easily by performing a Google search for Kelly Sgroi LMHC.

Dealing With the Emotions of Finances - Adam Koren

Dealing With the Emotions of Finances - Adam Koren

Want to set your mind at ease about your finances? Adam Koren is a compassionate financial coach who takes a creative approach to help people deal with money issues. He finds that people don’t like to talk about money. In many cases, they don’t like to deal with it at all until they are hit with some sort of crisis for which they don’t have funds to deal with but feel they should. Most financial and/or investment counselors deal with the should or shouldn’t rules of money handling. His approach is to deal with the emotional attachments to what things money can do for a person. He likes to determine what:

  • A person wants on both the numbers and emotional side
  • Will relieve their anxiety (which is not necessarily slashing the food budget)
  • It Will help them not be uncomfortable about talking about their money

He states the growth benefit his clients experience from working with him is they begin by being extremely anxious and ashamed and end up feeling relaxed, confident, and settled in their mind and heart. He wants people to know they don’t have to face the money issue alone. A Career On Your Own Terms - Terry McDougall

If you are in the can’t-find-the-job-I-really-want slump you will want to listen to this woman.

Terry McDougall began a podcast to share her learning experiences during her career so other people could benefit from her stumbles and skinned knees. That turned into a book: Winning the Game of Work: Career Happiness and Success on Your Own Terms. She started out in marketing but loved the mentoring and coaching aspect of her responsibilities. • Become confident in yourself
  • Internal validation will bring you further along than external

Shut Up and Listen - Allison Joan Hall

Shut Up and Listen - Allison Joan Hall

What a multi-faceted dynamo of humanity. Allison has had so many experiences from which she has learned, she had a difficult time sharing her story because there is so much to it. She stated that she discovered her name Allison, could also be read as All Is On which is how she views herself. She is a pastor, counselor and coach. She grew up with her mother but since her mother did not speak negative things about her father, she remained close to him. She was diagnosed with BI-Polar disease and was on medication for twenty years. She has been medication free for some time now. It started out with her having migraines (177 in a year’s time) and then she started falling so much so that she had to retire from her job. She credits God with leading her through the process of getting medication free and being healed. She says the Lord spoke to her and said the medications she was taking were killing her. She checked herself in to a two week program to wean herself from the meds. Then she did a green smoothie cleanse and ended up becoming a vegan. She also quit drinking anything with caffeine in it. She states that the Lord told her she needed to work out more than the average person. So, she runs every day and swims one a week. This led to her having a daily Facebook prayer run. Many people have gotten a lot out of her ‘Prayer Run’.

You can meet her at www.allisonjoan.com

She has also written a book: Cracks in the Potters Clay, How I Overcame Bi-Polar with Faith

The Color of Resiliency - Michelle Graff

The Color of Resiliency - Michelle Graff

Michelle Graff

Michelle Graff comes from a child welfare background. After a point in her career, she determined she could have more impact by changing her focus to working with the help professionals. This is a packet of powerful information from the author of The Compassion Fatigued Organization: Restoring Compassion to Helping Professionals. The multiple topics Michelle addresses include:

The importance of relationships
How personal and secondary trauma affects people (The brain reacts the same to both.)
The color of resiliency
The fact that the helping professionals are not so different from those needing help.

Michelle focuses on teaching people how to become more self-aware, build resiliency, distinguish self vs. other’s trauma through self-awareness, how to recognize when compassion is being shut off in the brain freeze response for protection, and know that compassion is necessary and replenishable. Michelle believes interpersonal relationships are very important and we must learn how to set appropriate boundaries as well as be respectful of other’s boundaries and accept the fact that we as individuals have no control of another person’s determined boundaries. She talks about the importance of employing and broadening skills needed to reset, maintain, and regulate yourself into responding rather than reacting to those things that trigger the flight, fight or freeze mode of trauma. One can’t help but learn a lot from Michelle Graff.

Pat and I really get into the importance of mindset in every aspect of sports and how that carries over to life. From the athletes to the coaches, mindset is an integral part of success. One thing that Pat said that stood out to me was the most important practice was the one right after a loss. How true is that? The most important time is right after a setback it is what will keep us moving forward or send us packing.
