Episode 11: Epic of Gilgamesh - Part 1
The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of the most fascinating myths in human history, and not surprising its from one of the most fascinating places in human history, ancient Sumeria. The stories first appear in written form on clay tablets over 4000 years old, and the sometimes striking similarities it has to later works such as the Bibles Book of Genesis, the apocryphal Book of Enoch, and even Homers Iliad have caught the attention of many a mind! Despite being so old and having a fair amount of name recognition, have a you ever actually read or heard the epic story? This episode of "Wading In" will do just that, thanks to permission from the Assyrian International News Agency , I will take you through the english translation hosted on their website here over the course of a few episodes.  Part 1 covers the mythical origins of Gilgamesh and his best friend and rival Enkidu and their subsequent adventures.  If you like a show be sure to subscribe and drop a review Follow Wading In via one of the following links for updates and more content and to get in touch (for real, you'll want to): https://www.wadinginpodcast.com Facebook Minds Support the show! Episode 10: Interstellar Wanderers
We look at and listen to the night sky, wondering if we are alone. And UFO stories from Roswell to Omuamua reflect our anxiety if nothing else. But what about the possible "UFO's" some far off civilization might one day encounter that are of earthly origin? Only 4 manmade objects have left the solar system to become an "Interstellar Wanderer", and a fifth object is well on its way, all of them space probes with very distinct and important missions. This episode of Wading In looks at the Pioneer 10, Pioneer 11, Voyager 1, Voyager 2, and New Horizons missions, the first missions to explore the outer planets, and their ultimate fates as they drift into interstellar space where they will be ultimately be lost to time space, or perhaps become ET's "UFO"...........  Be sure to review, subscribe, and share if you like the show! Episode 9: Anubis - God of the Underworld
Anubis, with the body of a man and the head of a Jackal is perhaps the most visually striking of all the Egyptian gods. Who was he and what was his role in the ancient Egyptian religion? Was he a terrifying demon god, a benevolent helper, or both? This episode of Wading In takes a quick look at the ancient god and seeks to find answers those questions... Episode 7: Nikola Tesla and the Martians
As long as humans have been able to think, we've wondered whether or not we're alone in the universe. From gods descended from the heavens, to single celled microbes on Europa, space has remained at the forefront of human science and fiction. In 1900, Nikola Tesla would famously receive an unknown signal of celestial origin some 30 years before the "birth" of radio astronomy as we know it today. This episode takes a look at Nikola Tesla's first discovery, his thoughts about it, and where we have gone since, and ends with a discussion about the perils of signaling into the unknown! Gods, Aliens, real History, and an Abyss, its all here.  Turn the lights off, and be filled with wonder.....and terror....  Like, share, and review, it really helps the show!  Visit Wading In Podcast for additional content including links to source material Follow on Minds and Facebook Music in this Episode "Phantom from Space" "Sneaky Snitch" "Soaring" "String Impromptu 1" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Episode 6: Reign of the Bugs
Insects are the most diverse group of creatures in the entire animal kingdom and they've been around in countless forms nearly since the beginning of life on Earth. They can be found virtually everywhere and doing basically everything from pollinating plants to spreading disease. They are possibly the most "alien" group of creatures on the planet! As such, they've also managed to infiltrate our myths, religions, and our SciFi as well. Is it really our planet or is it theirs? This episode travels back in time to explore that question and in particular a time period wen call the Carboniferous, when the Reign of the Bugs was at its peak.....  Subscribe and Share if you like this podcast! Episode 5: The Nazi's Secret Space Weapons
The Nazi's, led by Adolf Hitler were one of the most notorious and brutal regimes of all time. But they're also famous for a fair amount of science and the mystic that surrounds them.  This episode wade's into the Nazi plans for space during WW2. A Nazi Death Star, a futuristic bomber, and the first man made object to enter space, the V2 rocket.  The Nazis were defeated but their science lived on (directly) in the USA and Russia and the space race, and their influence can still be seen on the spacecraft today, and was left behind on the moon by Apollo astronauts.   Mentioned in the episode is an engineering document by Eugene Saenger in regards to the SilverVogel.... here it is http://www.astronautix.com/data/saenger.pdf Visit Wading In Podcast for additional content including links to source material Follow on Minds and Facebook Music in this episode: "The Descent" "Shadowlands 7 Codex" "Drums of the Deep" "String Impromptu #1" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Episode 4: Saint George and the Dragon
The legend of Saint George and the Dragon, and an account of his martyrdom in the Roman Empire that wold get him canonized as a saint in the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. How much is history and how much is myth? George's story is one of archetypal good vs archetypal evil not unlike many others that came before it, down to the dragon and the spear. This story has inspired good for over well 1000 years, and will likely do the same for 1000s more.  Visit Wading In Podcast for additional content including links to source material Follow on Minds and Facebook Music in order of occurrence:  "Shadowlands-Codex" "Five Armies" "Gregorian Chant" "Lord of the Land" "Desert City" "The Descent"  by Kevin Macleod (incompetech.com)  Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Episode 2: CRISPR, Eugenics, Nationalism, and You
This episode dives into genetic manipulation of humans via CRISPR and Eugenics. Starting with the recent news story of a Chinese researcher editing embryos with CRISPR, we jump into history and the pitfalls of nationalism and genetic discrimination in NAZI Germany and around the world. From there its into the future portrayed in various science fiction stories and movies like Gattaca, Brave New World, and even Star Wars. How do we handle this new power? Can avoid the pitfalls of the past, and those that might be in the future? Should we let the genie out of the bottle or fight to keep him in?  Visit Wading In Podcast for additional content including links to source material Follow on Facebook  Follow on Minds Music in this episode:  "The Descent" "Sneaky Snitch" "Division" "Gregorian chant" "Drums of the Deep"  By Kevin MacLeod  (incompetech.com)  Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Episode 1: Coyote
Coyotes, hated by many, and misunderstood by most. A uniquely North American animal we've only just recently started to understand. Or, have we known for awhile just in a different format? The Native Americans had a remarkable and fabled relationship with the natural world. Maybe some of these myths and legends are on to something when it comes to our uniquely American friend the Coyote.
