Prior to being elected on November 13th, 2017, John was the 45th mayor of Provo City serving two terms. Known for his personal approach to city government, Mayor Curtis prioritizes his outreach to residents of Provo by utilizing various channels including his popular blog. He was named the #1 Top Elected Official on Social Media 2015 by the Government Social Media group and has been recognized by Forbes for his commitment to citizen engagement. Curtis was re-elected for a second four-year term as mayor in 2013 with 86.49% of the vote. As mayor, he averaged an approval rating of 93%.

During his terms in office, the city of Provo ranked #1 in the nation for Business and Careers by Forbes as well as #1 for Well-Being by Gallup.

John was recognized by Silicon Slopes this year as their first Community Hero Award recipient. Other personal awards comprise of Civic Innovator of the Year by Utah Valley University, Thayne Robson Award for Leadership in Economic Development, and Outstanding Citizen Award from the Office of Civic Engagement Leadership by Brigham Young University

Before becoming mayor, John built a world-renowned multi-million-dollar business Action Target where with he led sales and operations strategy as COO. Curtis and his wife Sue have six children, five grandchildren and a closet full of stately socks.

And Boggs — a man who does not own one pair of jeans — is very serious about his suits.

“I’m either in sweatpants working out, or I’m in a suit. There’s really no middle for me. I’m very comfortable in a suit,” he said with a chuckle.

Walk Like Beggars | Dean Karnazes, otherwise known as, "Ultramarathon Man" has completed hundreds if not thousands of endurance events. A father, author, and sponsored athlete, Karnazes is a man in motion! A few of his achievements are listed below:

- Ran 350 miles (560 km) in 80 hours and 44 minutes without sleep in 2005
- Single-handedly completed "The Relay", a 199-mile (320 km) run from Calistoga to Santa Cruz, eleven times
- Ran a marathon to the South Pole in −13 °F (−25 °C) temperatures without snowshoes in 2002
- Ran a marathon in each of the 50 states in 50 consecutive days in 2006

Other athletic achievements include:

- Winner, Badwater Ultramarathon (135 miles (217 km) across Death Valley in 120 °F (49 °C) temperatures), 2004 (with five other top-10 finishes from 2000-2008)
- Winner, Vermont Trail 100 Mile Endurance Run, 2006
- Overall Winner, 4 Deserts Race Series, 2008  

- American Ultrarunning Team, World Championships, 2005, 2008
- 148 miles (238 km) in 24 hours on a treadmill, 2004
- Eleven-time 100-Mile/1 Day Silver Buckleholder at the Western States Endurance Run[16] (i.e., better than ten twenty-four-hour finishes), 1995–2006
- Ran 3,000 miles (4,800 km) across the United States from Disneyland to New York City in 75 days, running 40 to 50 miles (65 to 80 km) per day, 2011[17][18]
- Swimming across the San Francisco Bay
