Walnut Wednesday

By Lara Gieseke

On a Wednesday, Lazz and her guests share how they had courage and 'walnutted', to encourage you to move, decide to be brave and be a part of The Walnut Tree.

Lazz is the creator, owner and life giver of Walnut Wednesday which is now so much more than a podcast.
It is incredible real-life humans, changing the world, one baby brave step at a time. She's been bravely walnutting and leading other women to grow their own confidence ever since.

"I am so many things, but if I had to narrow it down to a few I'd suggest, I'm a healer, self-leader, podcast host and more importantly, a Walnut".

#229 Don't Take Life Too Seriously

I completed a 365 days of reels challenge and nothing dramatically exciting happened...

Penny Lane from Almost Famous (2000) once said "I always tell the girls, never take it seriously, if ya never take it seriosuly, ya never get hurt, ya never get hurt, ya always have fun, and if you ever get lonely, just go to the record store and visit your friends." This week I am speaking with Kaya all about Body positivity and being compassionate to yourself when making lifestyle changes. I got some advice on how to think critically about the nutrition information we see online and get a glimpse of Kaya's story and how she moved away from her academic background and into the role model she has become.

Kaya is a nutritionist, helping people learn a sustainable, evidence based approach to eating and exercise. She's passionate about teaching people to take care of their bodies so that they can be confident, happy, healthy, and immune to nutrition bullshit!

#226 Feedback is a Gift AND SO IS HINDSIGHT

Walnut, I'm coming clean this week about an episode that has been sat in my drafts for over a year. I'm sharing my learnings from that episode, alongside the learnings and response I have about it over a year later. It's made me realise and given me evidence on the importance of the present moment (again), that time is not linear and to always back myself.

#210 Healing through Clay & Celebrating Self Love with Morgan Blixt

#210 Healing through Clay & Celebrating Self Love with Morgan Blixt

This week I have the gorgeous Morgan visit us, where we got to chatting all about retreats, empowerment and an overall theme of self love - this is a woman you'll want to hang out with soon!

A bit about Morgan: I am the owner of Mud+Woman Pottery where we focus on healing through clay and celebrating self love in all forms. For me, working with clay is reconnecting to the earth, grounding, embodiment and oneness with self.

Mud + Woman Pottery was inspired by 3 things I feel most connected to.

  • MUD - connecting to the earth through one of its rawest forms. It’s my form of grounding and creation.
  • WOMAN - to me this was addressing my own personal body issues head on. To love myself and heal through seeing how beautiful all body types are and how we’re all uniquely our own beautiful soul.
  • POTTERY - if you know me I have always had a creative spark. I started pottery in 2019 and haven’t turned back sense. I love to use earth materials to create something beautiful with my hands to share with others.

My pottery aims to inspire body positivity through workshops, events and the pieces I’ve created and sell. To genuinely share my love for art and creativity with others. And to create a fun and safe space for people to come and learn new skills.

Coming in with fresh water works this week, while the event is still raw. I’m reflecting with you on a time where I felt ashamed and embarrassed to be the host of Walnut Wednesday the podcast. This moment brought up a deep reflection as to why I felt I needed to make myself the butt of a joke in the first place and also elicited a brave conversation with an external party, simply explaining how something made me feel, without needing to know if that was the intent or not.

#189 Sitting in Sorrow and Letting Time Pass

#189 Sitting in Sorrow and Letting Time Pass

My car wouldn't start this morning. After a mass run around in a rush to get to work, anxiety of finding a carpark, all the 3D worries of the world. Everything got really heavy, so, instead of forcing myself to solve a problem (5/1 life lol) I sat in my cold lil ice box and cried for 30 minutes and let time pass. I literally blubbered and let it all out in my dead little car in the 6am darkness. I stared into space and at the sky and just LET IT HAPPEN, letting the minutes roll by.

It was pretty bleak and hopeless but also insanely cathartic to LET MYSELF just be present and depressed for 30 blubbery minutes. I reflected how much pressure I put on myself to be in certain places, put smiles on my face, keep healthy, wealthy, stealthy... and think I need to give myself a break(s) - and really embody the idea that I AM doing a good job (and that no one is mad at ME). I'm reflecting now, isn't it weird that letting myself just sit for 30mins is something I'd consider "wildly uncomfortable" - I'm "the fixer" in all aspects of my life, constantly in a state of feeling like there's not enough time. #185 The Divine Energies in Harmony

#185 The Divine Energies in Harmony

This week, Walnut, take a seat with me very early in the morning pre-coffee where I talk about my walnutting this week. In previous episodes we've talked about topics like the patriarchy, feminine rage and this week something that's come up is "the mental load" that all link to my walnutting this week. I experienced a wonderful harmony between both the masculine and feminine energies and am using it as an example for times when I've surrendered to "oneness".

#184 Use Your Walnut Voice

#184 Use Your Walnut Voice

I got a sacral hit from the TV Show on Amazon called "Good Omens" in the last epiosde where the Anti-Christ is being advised on how he should confront his father. It reminded me of how powerful our voices are, no matter the scale we measure ourselves on, either way it is important we use them. What do you think?

#182 Little Things Can Have a Big Impact

This week I talk about the symbolism of bees! New beginnings, hard work, wisdom and the reminder that small things can make a big impact on the world. Kevin has made an appearance on this episode as he so bravely patrolled and protected his house with his ferocious pug barking, I hope you enjoy this episode and if you have any bee stories to share, please feel called to reach out or share if this episode means something to you too!

#181 Things Will Keep On Changing and That's Okay!

This week is a back capture of how I went through various phases of my cycle recently and how simply having an awareness and shining a light on it for so long has led me to feelings of content within myself.
