Itzulia Basque Country Stage 6 2023

Primož Roglič and Remco Evenepoel did an incredible performance on Lo Port in Volta a Catalunya Stage 5 2023. Joao Almeida, Marc Soler, Lenny Martinez, Cian Uijtdebroeks, Mikel Landa, Michael Woods and other closer finishers also did tremendous performances in perfect conditions.

Tadej Pogačar showed impressive performance on Paris-Nice 2023 stage 4, winning the stage and becoming the new race leader, while his rival Jonas Vingegaard lost more than 40 seconds.

2022 Tour de France Champion Jonas Vingegaard and 2020-2021 Le Tour  Winner Tadej Pogačar both will ride Paris-Nice and they are in great shape. This race will be must watch. Tadej Pogačar won five races in February - Jaen Paraiso Interior and  Vuelta a Andalucia GC and three stages. In this episode we tried to do a tier list of more than 50 climbers for the 2023 season. This list included many climbers such as Remco Evenepoel, Jonas Vingegaard, Enric Mas, Jay Vine, Juan Ayuso, Primož Roglič, Tadej Pogačar, Ben O'Connor, Carlos Rodriguez, Geraint Thomas, Jai Hindley, Landa, Carapaz, Adam Yates, Simon Yates, Dani Martinez, Haig, Almeida, Bardet, Kuss, Vlsov, Plapp, Gaudu, Miguel Angel Lopez, Quintana, Majka, Higuita, McNulty, Lutsenko, Taaramae, Meintjes, Hirt, Caruso, Mader, Izagirre, Carthy, Kruijswijk, Sivakov, Poels, BIlbao, Verona, Buchmann, Ciccone, Fuglsang, Woods, Padun, Kamna, Chaves, Guillaume Martin, Uran.

Tom Pidcock pushed 386 watts for 22:46 which was enough to break Ed Laverack's Sa Calobra Strava KOM by 1 minute and 50 seconds.

Astana terminated Miguel Angel Lopez's contract over a probable connection to a doping doctor. Colombian website suggest that Colombian might have abandoned Giro d'Italia because of menotropin. Astana Statement on Miguel Angel Lopez "Astana Qazaqstan Team discovered new elements showing Miguel Angel Lopez' probable connection with Dr Marcos Maynar. Accordingly, the team had no other solution than to end the contract between team and rider, based on breaches of said contract and internal team rules, with immediate effect. To preserve the rights of the team and the rider no further comments will be made."

Watt Police is back with the Top 10 Climbing Performances of 2022 including few honourable mentions like Ruben Guerreiro on Mont Ventoux, Mauricio Moreira on Senhora Assuncao, Remco Evenepoel on Collau Fancuaya, Remco Evenepoel on Penas Blancas. In the top 10 is included Jonas Vingegaard, Plateau de Solaison, Jai Hindley on Passo Fedaia, Remco Evenepoel on Gaustatoppen. Tour of Norway Stage 3, Remco Evenepoel on Les Praeres, Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard on Mende, Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a Espana, Brandon McNulty, Jay Vine and Remco Evenepoel on Pico Jano, Remco Evenepoel Erlaitz, Jonas Vingegaard on Col du Granon, Tour de France stage 11, Jonas Vingegaard on Hautacam Stage 18.

Tobias Foss beat Steffan Kung and Remco Evenepoel to get his first pro  win outside of Norway. Jumbo-Visma rider unexpectedly won World  Championships 2022 Men's Time-Trial.

Remco Evenepoel finished first on Les Praeres climb from the GC group, breaking Simon Yates' 2018 record. Enric Mas, Juan Ayuso, Carlos Rodriguez, Primož Roglič followed after Evenepoel from GC riders. The stage was won by Louis Meintjes, which was his first World Tour win.

Jay Vine won his second Vuelta a Espana stage, while Remco Evenepoel was the fastest from the GC group with Primož Roglič and Enric Mas. Carlos Rodriguez did his best climbing performance so far.

Jay Vine won Vuelta a Espana Stage 6 2022, beating Remco Evenepoel, Enric Mas, Primož Roglič and other GC riders from the GC group

Joao Almeida Won on Lagunas de Neila in Vuelta a Burgos Stage 5 2022, beating Miguel Angel Lopez in the sprint. INEOS riders Pavel Sivakov and Carlos Rodriguez finished behind them. Ilan van Wilder was 5th, with a shocking performance, Ruben Guerreiro 6th, Jai Hindley 7th.

Annemiek van Vleuten won Tour de France Femmes Avec Zwift Stage 8 2022 and secured the GC win on La Super Planche des Belles Filles, dropping everyone. Demi Vollering finished 30 seconds after Van Vleuten.

Annemiek van Vleuten was flying in Tour de France Femmes Avec Zwift Stage 7 2022, dropping everyone except Demi Vollering already on the first climb of the day and later went solo, winning by more than 3 minutes over Vollering. Cecilie Uttrup Ludwing lost 5:16 and finished 3rd with Juliette Labous and Katarzyna Niewiadoma. Silvia Persico, Elisa Longo Borghini, Urška Žigart, Evita Muzic and Pauliena Rooijakkers also were in the top 10.

Remco Evenepoel did his best under 20+ minute climbing performance in Clásica San Sebastián 2022, winning the race for the 2nd time. The young Belgian dropped everyone on the Erlaitz climb with 46km to go. Pavel Sivakov finished 2nd, Tiesj Benoot 3rd, Bauke Mollema 4th, Carlos Rodriguez 5th, Simon Yates 6th, Toms Skujiņš 7th, Mattias Skjelmose Jensen 8th, Rigoberto Uran 9th, Lorenzo Rota 10th.

Jonas Vingegaard continued to show his impressive form on the final mountain day of an enthralling edition of the Tour de France. Stage 18 finished with the legendary Hautacam climb where Jonas Vingegaard took a big leap towards the overall victory by putting more than a minute into Tadej Pogačar. The Dane did not break his compatriot Bjarne Riis’ record time (34:41) but still did the fastest climbing time since Lance Armstrong in 2000.

Chris Froome is back. Froome finished 3rd in Tour de France stage 12 that finished on Alpe d'Huez. Froome beat multiple high level climbers from the breakaway and proved he still is competitive. Tom Pidcock became the youngest rider ever to win on Alpe d'Huez. Jonas Vingegaard, Tadej Pogačar, Enric Mas, Sepp Kuss and Geraint Thomas finished together. They climbed Alpe d'Huez in 39 minutes and 12 seconds, which is the fastest time since 2006.

Jonas Vingegaard cooked Tadej Pogačar on Col du Granon, taking a spectacular victory on Col du Granon. Vingegaard broke Greg LeMond and Urs Zimmermann record by more than 5 minutes, producing world-class w/kg at high altitude. Jonas Vingegaard was not far from beating Tadej Pogačar up La Planche Des Belles Filles, which was the first mountain top finish in this Tour de France. Pogačar eventually won the stage but by a slim margin over Vingegaard, while Primož Roglič finished 3rd.

It was a rainy start at Tour de France 2022 stage 1 in Copenhagen. Yves Lampaert from Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl took a surprising win by starting late. Wout Van Aert made a big mistake at the end of the Criterium du Dauphine stage 3, celebrating too early. David Gaudu at the last moment surprised him and won the stage. Jumbo-Visma with Jonas Vingegaard and Primož Roglič worked hard for Van Aert in the final kilometres but the Belgian let down his teammates. Chris Froome finished 35th, losing 31 seconds to Gaudu, which shows he is improving. Victor Lafay finished 3rd, Ruben Guerreiro 4th, Kevin Geniets 5th, Nick Schultz 6th, Damiano Caruso 7th, Dylan Teuns 8th, Matteo Jorgenson 9th and Brandon McNulty 10th.

Criterium du Dauphine 2022 preview. We discussed stage 7 and 8, which will be the hardest days of this year's race. Stage 7 includes Col du Galibier, Col de la Croix de Fer and Vaujany climbs, while stage 8 finishes on the mighty Plateau de Salaison (11.4 km, 8.9%). GC favourites are Jumbo-Visma riders Primož Roglič, Jonas Vingegaard and Wout van Aert. No views 29 May 2022 Jai Hindley on stage 20 was unstoppable, destroying Richard Carapaz on the steep gradients of Passo Fedaia, dropping monster 6,51 w/kg for almost 19 minutes. Hindley won Giro d'Italia 2022 GC, the first win for Australia in this race. Richard Carapaz finished 2nd in GC, Mikel Landa 3rd, Vincenzo Nibali 4th, Pello Bilbao 5th, Jan Hirt 6th, Emanuel Buchmann 7th, Domenico Pozzovivo 8th, Hugh Carthy 9th, Juan Pedro Lopez 10th.

Remco Evenepoel won Tour of Norway stage 3 mountain top finishing, producing 6,50 w/kg for 30+ minutes, which is the best climbing performance of 2022. Remco beat Jay Vine by 27 seconds, who also did a great performance. In Top 10 also finished Luke Plapp, Tobias Halland Johannessen, Laurens Huys, Cian Uijtdebroeks, Esteban Chaves, Marco Brenner, Magnus Sheffield and Tao Geoghegan Hart.

Giro d'Italia stage 16 was the most difficult day for the climbers so far in this Giro. The stage was one by Czech climber Jan Hirt, who outclimbed on the steep Santa Cristina climb Thymen Arensman, taking a big win from a breakaway. Meanwhile in the GC group Mikel Landa, Jai Hindley and Richard Carapaz all finished together. They all broke Santa Cristina's record, improving Marco Pantani's time from the 1994 Giro by 9 seconds.

Giro d'Italia stage 14 was an intensive stage with Bora-Hansgrohe exploding the peloton and pacing hard, creating a strong leading group with strong riders such as Joao Almeida, Richard Carapaz, Mikel Landa, Jai Hindley, Vincenzo Nibali, Domenico Pozzovivo and many more. Juan Pedro Lopez after 10 days in the maglia rosa lost the lead, while Carapaz became the new leader of the race.

Strong GC riders like Simon Yates, Giulio Ciccone, Wilcon Kelderman all lost more than 9 minute to the fastest guys and finished their fight for the GC, while Jai Hindley won a bunch sprint, beating Mikel Landa, Romain Bardet, Joao Almeida and Richard Carapaz.
