Thanks as always for being apart of the WE DREAM family, if you've been with us for a while, you know we stay busy over here at Men's and Women's Leadership Academy! And of course, we gotta take breaks to make sure we are pushing out the best content we possibly can. With that said, there are some special things we are working on behind the scenes and can't wait to share when we come back. Welcome to another WE DREAM Podcast episode! This week I go through virtual "boot camp" by learning the ins and outs of military life with Matteo Gomez. Matteo graduated from West Campus High School in 2018 and enlisted in the Army right after. He has had many positive experiences from getting an education paid for to smacking on some fire food while in the service. We sincerely hope that by sharing some of the knowledge he has acquired, we might inform anyone out there thinking of going down the path Matteo went on. Sit back, tune in, and DREAM on!

Besides sharing his dope Mixcloud page with us, he also shares some insight on what it's like to be an established DJ from Sacramento. Luis covers how he got started in turning his interests and love for sound into a career. We learn all about the expertise he uses while controlling a crowd to keep the party liiittt!!! From spinning at Kings games to broadcasting over the air, Luis is a DJ by night, and a high school math teacher by day. This one is so crazy, as we have the experience of getting to talk to the broadcast legend Damian Barling, who runs a sports talk-show on ESPN and who created the Be Heard Platform. I get the chance to ask Damian what Be Heard is and what it means to him. Also I ask about being a person of color and how he has had to navigate that in the industry he is in. To sum it up - Dame stays true to himself and if you don't like it, it just aint for you fam! Find out exactly what that means as Damian breaks it down for us and shares his DREAM with the one and only WE DREAM Podcast.

Join us as we continue on our college knowledge journey! This week we highlight a former community college student who not only has experience taking classes at multiple JCs (Junior Colleges) but also transferring over to a CSU. Steven Baul gives us his advice on what to watch out for if you decide to go the JC route. We also discuss some stigmas about community college you may have heard and why these schools have a lot of "bang for your buck". Who better to talk to than a stellar student who goes to one of the best private schools in Cali? That would of course be Amantina Rossi in her first year at Stanford University! Tina shares why the hardest schools might seem hard to reach, but it's all worth it in the end. Which is exactly why we encourage students to shoot for the stars on their path to one of their DREAM colleges!

The team over at the RAGE Project is extremely proud to present their newest project - The Power of Now Docuseries. Come along with us and explore youth activism in Sacramento through the lens of local youth and past activists. Today’s guest Sydney Butler was on board with the project from the very start, so she gives us some insight on what this film was created to do and how it will inspire its viewers. For all the listeners out there who are looking to get outdoors a bit more and staring at your screens a bit less, this episode is just what the doctor ordered! Today we have Kyle Murphy the outdoors-man to help us out! Kyle has gained experience in the wilderness by leading river rafting trips, taking hands-on courses, and really just spending a whole lot of time in adventure recreation activities. And of course, on the social justice side of things, certain populations haven't always had the time or resources to enjoy the outdoors, so Kyle sheds some light on how that has changed and some uplifting programs. As proud owners of their own podcast in addition to being NBA G-League color commentary and play by play analysts, Deuce and Mo have been serving the sports world quality content for a minute now, so tune in to hear where this prominent duo got their start and the future they have in store. We also get to talk about equity issues in the career field of broadcasting as well as our BeHeard platform that aims to change such norms one engaging conversation at a time. The New Year is the perfect time to break some bad habits, but that isn't the only thing that the WE DREAM Podcast thinks about breaking, we also support Jackie and her team as they aim to Break The Gap! Listen to today's great conversation with founder Jackie Meza to find out what her organization is doing to unite all walks of life together, no matter how rich or poor one may be. It is especially awesome to highlight a program that was started by a 19 year old and has grown into something special with profound DREAMS for the future.
