EP 21: The Barefoot Forge
EP 21: The Barefoot Forge
A few weeks ago, I met Craig Cowan at The Barefoot Forge. I found him by looking up the #pittsburghwelding to find someone local to me to visit. Little did I know that I was going to be exposed to a whole other side of the industry, the maker community. Craig not only offers intro to welding classes, he also has date night/girl's night classes such as making a rose, a railroad spike bottle opener and his most popular Damascus wedding rings. Couples can actually travel to his location (which is about to be an even bigger space) and create their own set of wedding rings. It is one of the most creative ideas I've ever heard and just makes the meaning of the ring so much more. We are excited to get more involved in the maker community and share more about forging, woodworking and how that applies to welding and everything in between! Find Craig @thebarefootforge on Instagram or visit his site https://www.thebarefootforge.com/

EP 20: Metal Shop Masters - Tom Patsis from Cold Hard Art
We have an exciting episode this week featuring Tom Patsis from Cold Hard Art based in Brownsburg, Indiana. Tom was a contestant on the Netflix show, "Metal Shop Masters" and I couldn't help but binge the whole season in a day. If you didn't finish, don't listen to the end of the podcast quite yet. Tom has a very interesting story from making 330 mph race cars and working on the race tracks, working in a fab shop and then going full time making Cold Hard Art! He's a really passionate guy (and a girl dad) who loves making replica cars, trophies and other cool art. He talks about his experience on the show and I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did! As his CEO, Luna, would say, that's my friend Tom! We hope that this show on Netflix serves as a way to get more younger people interested in skilled trades! Find Tom on IG @coldhardart

He shares how he got started in TIG art and some advice for anyone interested in getting started. P.S. you need a chill block.  We also are excited to share about "The Hooded Heroes Foundation". Their mission is to be a hand up, not a hand out to students who are in a financial position that doesn't allow them the proper PPE necessary for welding class. For more information, you can visit https://www.thehoodedheroes.org/ to learn how you can give back to the welding community or if you should have the need to apply for help as well.
