In the height of his profession Larry Pfohl was known as Lex Luger, “The Total Package.” For 15 years Lex traveled the world as a WWE and WCW professional wrestling superstar.
From the outside it looked as though Lex had it all; the body of a comic book super hero, fame, fortune, family, and a future that promised a full life in every way… Until it didn’t.
Lex was at the ultimate peak of perfection when it came to his wrestling career.
However, nothing could be further from the truth. In 2004 Lex would encounter a series of events which promised to reshape his life entirely.

If you’re not careful (read “full of care”) about your holiday habits the holiday season can become a big trap leading to a big hole that you have to dig out of when the holiday “party like it’s 1999” phase is over.
Then come the New Year’s resolutions that you feel really good about cuz this is the year that you’re really going to do it! Right? Well, maybe - if you’re in the 20% group who go the distance. Within six weeks 80% of those who made lofty “gonna make a change” commitments have completely abandoned them. It’s just one of the reasons I think making New Year’s resolutions is stupid, because it’s stupid to keep doing things that don’t work. Insanity anyone?
Becoming a happier, healthier, goal achieving version of yourself isn’t going to just happen by wrapping up the current year the same way you always have and kicking off the new year declaring the same resolutions you did the last few years. You need more than declarations & willpower to make the next best year of your life a reality.
It’s why I believe “PreSolutions” are far more effective and realistic than resolutions. I fill you in with the deets on this week’s podcast. Cheers!

Episode 144: Stop Choosing The Easy Life – Start Choosing The Best One part 2
The 21st century has presented us with an interesting conundrum. On one hand, the world around us has evolved exponentially in technology & connectedness. We've never had so much technology at our disposal and the ability to instantaneously connect with others thousands of miles or even oceans away.
However, on the other side, we as humans still rely on our primal instincts to think and react. Everything we do is still influenced by our innate "fight or flight" response and other prehistoric conditions.
This is known as The Evolutionary Gap: A huge divide between what the world can offer versus what our human minds and bodies can handle at this point in our evolution.
The result? A population who has not been trained to understand or manage this large divide. And when it’s not handled properly, the result is a life of stress, overwhelm, busyness and falling short of achieving your innermost desires and dreams.
Lions and tigers and bears show up in other forms nowadays, but the reaction is still the same. Only in this case, the reaction is unnecessary. Eric EdMeades comes back this week to tell us how to close the gap. It starts with being aware of the process. Recognize it. Be willing to disrupt it so you can face the scary thing in a reasonable manner.

Ep. 140: How to Get the Healing You Deserve
Alec Zeck grew up in a beautiful home in the suburbs with everything a kid could want, including a father who coached his basketball team. But Alec’s home was also a narcissistically abusive environment, a place he was always fearful & where he began believing the things he was told about himself.
As an adult, he attended West Point Academy, becoming an Army Captain & playing on an Olympic sports team. Alec had found new labels to identify with, but was still externalizing his self-worth based on how others saw him.
What Alec experienced in his childhood would resurface continually, causing chaos in his life. He was forced to search inward for the healing he needed. That’s when this soldier took on another label—‘survivor of generational trauma.’
Healing begins when we reframe the past & apply new meaning to it. That will generate different thoughts & emotions. Alec’s journey to self-love began when he realized he deserves to heal.

Ep. 139: Your Body is Always Right
Right now, the realization that humans don’t know everything is staring us in the face. We’ve been trained to rely on external sources like the Western medical system to bring us optimal health & wellness.

Our bodies are miraculous. They do the work to keep us alive, healthy, & thriving. Yet we betray their wisdom by silencing any uncomfortable symptoms with pharmaceuticals.
70% of Americans are on prescription drugs. It’s as if people believe eventually needing medication is the normal course of action for the human body. I see this in many of the clients who come to me for holistic health coaching. They think their meds will be part of the plan—until they realize they don’t need them anymore.
Body connection coach & author Lauren Geertsen speaks on this from experience. Having chronic health issues while growing up, she was provided with an arsenal of medications. They did nothing to heal what Lauren now understands were her true ailments—stress & anxiety.
Taking a pill instead of eating differently or making other lifestyle changes is pretty extreme. Lauren & I are suggesting some alternatives that anyone can do, & are not expensive or time consuming.

Ep. 134: Bulletproof Your Mindset
Do you want to be fearful & riddled with anxiety? Of course not! But living in that state is a choice and you can choose to free yourself from it by bulletproofing your mindset.
That’s simply a memorable way of describing what happens when we shift the disempowering thought patterns that keep us stuck. Our thoughts & beliefs are real things. They generate very real emotions.
This week I’m addressing the top three questions on my clients’ minds right now. Like, “How can I get back to normal & feel like I have my life under control? The world is such a mess & it seems like everything in my life has been turned upside down.” That thought on repeat will definitely make you feel anxious!
Fueling the thoughts we dwell on with heightened emotion results in a self-fulfilling prophecy, whether it’s good or bad. Like attracts like. That’s why our mindset affects our physical health too. The theory that disease begins in the mind is backed by research & some of our oldest spiritual philosophies.
I’m also sharing an interesting phenomenon—the nocebo effect. You’ve surely heard of the placebo effect. The nocebo effect is kind of the opposite, but says just as much about the power of our minds over our bodies.

Ep. 133: Making Health Choices Requires the Wisdom You Have Within
Dr. Christiane Northrup is a board-certified OB/GYN, New York Times Bestselling Author, & formerly one of Reader’s Digest’s “The 100 Most Trusted People in America.” But as she continues to teach patients everything that can go right with their bodies, Dr. Northrup has also been attacked for her integrative approach.
She believes our mind, emotions, spirit, & physical body must work together for optimal health. Seasonal affective disorder, postpartum depression, & menopause are examples of the kind of wake-up call we get when these parts of ourselves aren’t unified.

Ep. 131: Helping Kids Navigate 2021’s Challenges

Ep. 130: Reverse Autoimmune Disease & Stop Suffering

Ep. 129: Why You Should Get Curious About Mom
Each year we designate one day to show appreciation for our mothers. One day—for the woman who gave us life. One day—for the person who many years ago made a decision that quite possibly changed the trajectory of her entire life.
If you’ve lost your mom, as my sister Teresa & I have, one more day together would mean the world to you. How would you spend that precious time, & how should you spend it if you’re lucky enough to still have Mom with you?
My sister & I sat down and talked about what we wished we would’ve said & done, shared what we knew & what we have no idea about, regrets, & what we’d do differently if we had a do-over.
This episode is filled with some great ideas on how to make the most of the time you have with your mom now. It’s about way more than brunches & bouquets — although there’s nothing wrong with those things — but I’m inviting you to really level up this year. I think you’ll totally get it once you listen.
We’re all busy managing our own lives & a lot of things can get by us that we later wish we would’ve been more present to. Take us up on our suggestions & you’ll quickly realize Mom handed down more than biology. You may also meet a woman you’ve never met before.

Ep. 128: The Miracle of Becoming Self Worth Wealthy
Our bodies constantly respond to the outer world. If it’s cold we shiver, if there’s a bus coming we stop from crossing the street. But guess what has the biggest influence over our body’s responses? Our minds!
We’ve all created our own unique inner world based on what we believe about ourselves & everyone/thing else. These core beliefs are rooted in either love (aww!) or fear (ahh!). So it’s important to investigate where yours are coming from to discover any aspects of your life that need attention or healing.
I like to look at 3 main aspects of ourselves I refer to as our 3 Pillars. Each pillar has the power to support or sabotage the others, so it’s important that we tend to each one, making sure it’s strong and doesn’t compromise the other pillars.
I’m sharing some quality questions you can ask yourself to assess your pillars strength.
You deserve to do this work for YOU! When your pillars are all strong you feel more balanced & your sense of self-worth is fortified. This makes reframing negative thoughts, overcoming challenges or bouncing back from adversity much easier. That’s a huge shift!

Ep. 127: How Do We Know A New Virus Exists?
Most of us have a general knowledge of medicine & science. We think a lot of people getting sick at once or sickness spreading is proof that a virus exists.
Dr. Tom Cowan is an M.D. with over 35 years experience treating patients. But in the past year he has pivoted to focus his research & expertise on the many claims made about viruses—yes, specifically, that virus.
Dr. Tom insists the most important question we should be asking right now is, how do we know a new virus exists & causes disease? After all, if experts don’t know what it is, how can they create an injection?
He explains that, beginning over 150 years ago, scientists doing disease experiments couldn’t find the bacteria causing a certain illness. So they hypothesized that there must be something smaller than bacteria & labeled it a virus.
Dr. Tom calls this “scientific fraud,” adding that once the microscope was developed, researchers discovered the thing they were calling a virus doesn’t exists.
Being well-informed from a variety of sources is the only way to figure out what kind of heath shift you need to make. This episode is a great start!

Ep. 126: You Are Everything You’re Looking For
You know that gut feeling. It’s more than just a thought or emotion. It’s your intuition.

Stress is like poison to our bodies, causing fatigue, anxiety, & illness, which just lead to more stress! How do we put this exhausting cycle to rest for good?
Unity Radio host & author Dr. Dravon James has some reasonable remedies to help manage stress. First, you must understand that it’s your brain’s way of protecting who it cares about most—you!
Fear is at the root of stress. Acknowledge that & kindly ask yourself why, what’s scaring me? Then take a timeout!
What was a punishment when you were a kid is a useful emotional health tool as an adult. The child in us wants our attention. So be as loving & kind with yourself as you would a 5-year-old.
Take the time to explore what’s triggering you. You will likely realize that it begins with your internal thoughts that then manifest externally. It might be ‘all in your head.’

Ep. 123: Smoothies Versus Green Juice: Everyone Is A Winner!
Many of us are focused on upleveling our health right now. There are tons of products & people out there promising to help us do that. But like with most things, the answer to maintaining health & wellness is quite simple—drink your vitamins!
I make myself a protein-packed, veggie-ful, delicious, nutritious smoothie every day. When done right, smoothies, or protein shakes as you might call them, are a meal replacement. My coaching clients always rave about the benefits they realize from adding my smoothie recipes to their daily eating regimen.
So I wanted to share my favorite smoothie recipe, along with some tips for customizing it to your health needs. Personally I love to add superfood chia seeds, which are a complete protein, complex carb, & have essential fatty acids. That helps me sustain energy throughout the day.
Juicing is another easy way to ingest the vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, & live enzymes that keep our bodies ticking. Juice is like a liquid supplement containing several servings of fruit & veggies. It’s easy to digest & offers up what we need in the most bioavailable form.
There are some other things you should know before becoming a devoted juicer. I’ll tell you how to best concoct your juice recipe (80% greens always!) & which type of juicer may fit your needs.
Consider making this health shift to drinking your vitamins, in whichever form you choose. When smoothies & green juice go head-to-head in a nutritional smackdown, we all win!

Self-awareness is a continual practice. There’s always room to grow. Mentally strong people can quickly determine how urgent a situation truly is, then take care of it with their feelings in check.
For those who are really brave, I suggest stepping outside yourself & asking someone close to you if they find any of your character traits difficult to deal with or be around. But you must give them permission to be honest!
There are also a few things we need to stop doing, because they’re chipping away at our mental strength. Victimhood, negative self-talk, & feeding self-destructive beliefs are at the top of the list.

EP. 115: How to Mind Your Mind
You can determine whether someone is physically strong with one glance. But what does mental strength look like?
Fearlessness, adaptability, & emotional maturity are characteristics of a mentally strong person. Just like with our biceps or triceps, we can develop that mental strength by exercising our minds using the techniques I’m sharing.
Learning how to manage our thoughts puts us in control of how we feel & behave. Emotions can be reigned in with simple tools like deep breathing, counting to ten, or even singing & dancing!
Emotions really spiraling out of control? Listen to hear one of my favorite tricks for regaining self-control.
When we change the meaning we’ve attached to a situation, our feelings around it change too. Remember, we are in control of our thoughts, emotions & behaviors.
