026. The 3 Bs of Salary Negotiations: Focusing on Total Compensation
Let's get into Salary Negotiations! This season, we're digging in deeper with salary negotiations.  Why?  Well - did you know that statistically speaking, only 7% of women negotiate their salaries in comparison to men which is at 57%?  WOW!  We've got to raise that number!  In this episode, I discuss the 3 Bs that can help you focus on total compensation.  The 3 Bs are: (1) Base; (2) Bonus; and (3) Benefits.  Whether you are starting a new position, moving laterally or simply wanting to reassess where you are, you can use the 3 Bs to help you discover more and ask clarifying questions through your research and discussions. I. AM. EXCITED.  This is my first episode discussing the workplace specifically but it will not be my last.  I am so incredibly honored to talk to Praise Mok, Deputy CEO of ROHEI, a leading Learning and Development organization based in Singapore.  I had the chance to work with ROHEI's colleagues on the ground for six weeks and it truly was a life-changing experience.  It helped me find my purpose in helping people resolve to win and gain clarity on so many other things.  In this episode, Praise talks about the importance of establishing trust, how leaders can address fractured trust and what employees can do to flex their courage muscle.  Be sure to listen and share with your friends and colleagues!   Connect with Praise Mok and ROHEI https://www.rohei.com/ https://www.rohei.com/resources/what-it-takes-to-be-a-safe-and-trusted-leader Connect with me: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/weresolvetowin/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/WeResolveToWin We Resolve to Win Private Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/weresolvetowin My Coaching and Consulting Services Website: https://www.avinuconsulting.com/

What a delight it was to talk to Shable Harris, a Software Engineer and Creative Director based out of Miami Beach, Florida.  In this episode, Shable shares her journey, what she learned along the way and the importance of learning how to fall in love with failure.  What I was most excited about this episode is how Shable talked about the importance to make room for yourself and not being "quiet about it."  She also speaks of tribe, community and the things that being in tech taught her as an African-American woman.  Her advice is wonderful and her heart is sincere!  Enjoy the episode! Preparing for non-negotiables: the death of Kobe Bryant.
I think it is safe to say that Kobe Bryant's death rocked the nation.  I grew up watching (and crushing) on Kobe Bryant.  I specifically remember when he took Brandi to prom.  I recall when he married Vanessa and the scandal broke.  And I will forever remember the gut-punching sensation I felt hearing about his death just yesterday, Sunday Jan. 26th.  We cannot negotiate with death.  We all have our time.  In this episode, I list 3 things you should consider so that you are prepared for the non-negotiable.  I love you all.  Be well. Continuing with our #DiversityInTech series, I interview B. Pagels-Minor who works as a Senior Engineering Program Manager based in San Jose, CA.  When B. reached out to me to chat about being diverse in tech, I jumped on the opportunity because they have held great positions in several large companies.  Who else, if anyone would be able to speak to being diverse in tech than someone who has such a wonderful resume such as B.'s?  Yet, when I talked to them, I learned so much about individuals that are trans/non-binary and their ability to leverage their unique experiences for companies.  I believe this episode will be educational for individuals inside and outside of the LGBTQ+ community that want to create business value for organizations of every size.  Be sure to share.
