In this episode, Wes Hofmann is joined by guest, Ruben Escobedo III, a comedian out of San Jose, CA. Although Ruben is not particularly a big sports fan himself, he was a great guest for this podcast. Wes and Ruben talk about how Ruben got started with stand-up, how he started to produce his own comedy shows, and how he became a beloved mascot for a local minor league baseball team. 

Wes Hofmann talks comedy and baseball with comedian and musician, Danno. They talk about how they basically started comedy around the same time and share stories. They then dive into baseball as Danno shares his appreciation for the Oakland A's even though he is a San Francisco Giants fan. Danno shares a funny story about a photo he once took dressed in Giants gear in a ballpark full of Dodgers fans in LA.

Wes Hofmann discusses performing stand-up comedy for the first time since before the Pandemic shut everything down in 2020. He also discusses how the Bay Area sports teams are struggling, the continuing MLB lockout, and more. 

MLB is still in a lockout but Commissioner Manfred claims the MLB and owners have "good proposal" for the MLBPA on Saturday. We shall see.
Wes comes across some devastating news about a former A's player while recording this episode.

Joke Strap finally reaches episode number 100 on a day that will always be remembered. The MLB playoffs are about to get under way, NBA and NHL seasons are about to start, and NFL is in full swing. It is a fun time to be a sports fan.  Will the SF Giants continue to win every game they play for the rest of the year on their way to another World Series title? Who should win MVP in both the AL and NL?

There is one week left in the Major League Baseball season, do the Oakland A's still have a shot at making the playoffs? Mathematically yes, but it won't be easy. Also, the battle for first place in the NL West between the Giants and Dodgers should be fun to watch. In the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers are 2-0, but like last season, they're going down like flies. And will Evander Kane be playing for the San Jose Sharks in the 2021-22 season or not?

It feels like Oprah Winfrey is telling all MLB players they are an All-Star these days. Many players selected to the team are unable to play due to injury or have opted not to play so end up having to be replaced on the team. How can this process be cleaned up in the future? MLB is telling the Oakland A's to start exploring other options outside of the Oakland area as City Council Officials don't all seem to be on board with the A's plans to build a new ballpark at the Howard Terminal site.
