For this episode, let’s call this the precursor to the essays that will be up on my Patreon in June. At the time of this recording Orenthal James Simpson, known in this lifetime is O.J. Simpson, has died at the age of 76. It is not possible to eulogize him… We must just accept what is.

S4.8: LIKEABLE vs. PALATABLE

S4.8: LIKEABLE vs. PALATABLE

What I am determined to stamp out is this idea of being a “likeable” as a Black woman. The RIGHT kind of Black woman not only DOES NOT EXIST, there is no way to exactly REMAIN her if you ARE her (which I assure you, you not sis). Note: I misspoke; her name is PEARL MOORE. Pearl Moore of Francis Marion has the overall women's record with 4,061 points from 1975-79 at the small-college level in the AIAW. Moore had 177 points at Anderson Junior College before enrolling at Francis Marion. This was BEFORE those records were incorporated into the NCAA.

E3.5: Irredemable Fumbles

Dating is trash and I’m really still not sure why this LEVEL of trash exists! For this particular show, I talk about a blockspinner, an ex, and why it’s important to keep choosing yourself. Sometimes, the best revenge is not just a glow-up… it’s to let people miss you. LET. THEM. MISS. YOU.

On this day, three years ago, we lost Chadwick Boseman. It seems odd to refer to him in an ancestor capacity, but yet here we are! Bonus #11: ROLL TIDE (Or ROLL JORDAN, ROLL!)!

The Battle of Montgomery on August 5, 2023 is a watershed moment in Blackness. It truly is! As HILARIOUS as this is, as needed as it was, it shows that we have more power than what we think, White people gon’ White people, and there is a whole purpose for anger (thank you, Audre Lorde!”). There is a quote from WARNING POEM by Langston Hughes mentioned in this episode as well—read ANYTHING by him. We are now the evidence of our ancestors’ sacrifice and faith—let us not forget that. 🖤🖤 *Note: “AquaMayne, Michael B. Phelps, Mike Tyson Phelps, is name is Aaren. With all that is happening with Carlietha “Carlee” Russell, there is almost a Cthulhu nature to what is happening now. Within almost a week, this woman’s life (for good or ill) will never be the same…ever again. Yet, the darker thing is THE WHY.

There is a power in admitting what you cannot do…and what you failed at. It is never a bad time—or too late—to start over. S2.10: Black Like Us

Being Black is lit, and not everybody can be it! You all have heard me say this on multiple platforms. And yet with the continuous deaths of young Black men, I believe it will be a violence for me to be silent. From the words of #BlackAdam, my own experiences, my cultural awareness, and being a student of history, I believe it would be a violence to stay silent. Just because Carolyn Bryant died, doesn’t mean her kids, the bitter root, by which she came, in the evilness that still surrounds us is all gone. In fact, far from it. Black women will always be too much for world. That is undeserving of them! We see how, for the want of the preservation of white women, mediocrity, and other vivid peoples opinions that Angela Bassett did not win best actress at this year‘s Oscars. We also see that a Angel Reese is still seen as the villain in the Cinderella story of the University of Iowa. For this show, it must be reminded to all of you that are listening: Black women don’t owe you nothing.

S2.7: Paging Mr. Majors

For this episode I give my reaction to this whole Jonathan Majors situation. It is heartbreaking to me as one who identifies herself as being a patron of the arts, and I support are there in. Well, none of us were there, historically we all were. And that we is… Black people. I was Jonathan every success going forward. And if it is found at this woman was lying on him? It wouldn’t be the first time, a White woman lied on a Black man and cried, would it?

Yet, in this discussion, I believe there are key things which need to come to the forefront: investment in community, why HBCU’s matter, an what it takes to leave a legacy.
