S4.9: “I’m Just A Black Woman Trying To Get Free.” #3 (feat. Akira, Your Confident Internet Cousin)
Our most excellent cousin Akira has graced this space to bring her level of joy and smoke to this conversation. As you all know, THE NECROMANCY OF BLACK WOMEN essay talks have been going on since February 2024. Yet, it is never a bad time to remind Black women, they are more, immaculate, and special than they could ever imagine. And freedom is for you too! Purchase the essay here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CSBD9FB6?ref_=cm_sw_r_mwn_dp_50T0ZSPHHN5YZVZZV1H8&language=en_US Follow Akira here: https://msha.ke/akiraelaun.

Bonus #24: “I’m Not Black I’m OJ…OKAY.”
For this episode, let’s call this the precursor to the essays that will be up on my Patreon in June. At the time of this recording Orenthal James Simpson, known in this lifetime is O.J. Simpson, has died at the age of 76. It is not possible to eulogize him… We must just accept what is.

Apr 12, 202429:49
S4.8: LIKEABLE vs. PALATABLE
What I am determined to stamp out is this idea of being a “likeable” as a Black woman. The RIGHT kind of Black woman not only DOES NOT EXIST, there is no way to exactly REMAIN her if you ARE her (which I assure you, you not sis). Note: I misspoke; her name is PEARL MOORE. Pearl Moore of Francis Marion has the overall women's record with 4,061 points from 1975-79 at the small-college level in the AIAW. Moore had 177 points at Anderson Junior College before enrolling at Francis Marion. This was BEFORE those records were incorporated into the NCAA.

S3.6: Moving Floors, Glass Doors & Slappin’ People Back
Rho (TT: RhoReports) had to prove her injuries because people said she was lying. It is easier to trust a lie than a Black woman—and that should not be so. E3.5: Irredemable Fumbles
Dating is trash and I’m really still not sure why this LEVEL of trash exists! For this particular show, I talk about a blockspinner, an ex, and why it’s important to keep choosing yourself. Sometimes, the best revenge is not just a glow-up… it’s to let people miss you. LET. THEM. MISS. YOU.
Sep 07, 202333:48
Bonus #13: Jenny From The Block
*Note: This episode was filmed in New York, on Labor Day Weekend 2023. My Trip to New York as an adult was a reminder that I had a whole other plan for my life — and God had another. My mother was right. Had I left Missouri, I would never have come back. I would have NEVER come back! I would BE home. And I still am home…
Sep 04, 202323:59
E3.4: This Dude Named RICO…
For this particular episode, y’all know I had to weigh in on orange Danos, and this mug shot! Yeah, there a deeper things are foot! With this we commemorating the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington… It’s just some people who would rather have air on the plantation them to be free of it.
Aug 29, 202326:51
Bonus #12: Chadwick.
On this day, three years ago, we lost Chadwick Boseman. It seems odd to refer to him in an ancestor capacity, but yet here we are! As an easy as it is to speak about him, I really believe that the lasting artistic legacy we have keeps him close to us. Besides, how can you bury a king, we have all seen him rise?
Aug 29, 202322:47
E3. 3: What You Call History, I Call Memory…”
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HIP-HOP! This genre of music has shaped my life, and that is not an understatement. For this bonus episode, I remember people who introduced me to this genre, special memories, and why I think it’s important we never forget why this genre is as powerful as it is. Aug 24, 202327:35
Bonus #11: ROLL TIDE (Or ROLL JORDAN, ROLL!)!
The Battle of Montgomery on August 5, 2023 is a watershed moment in Blackness. It truly is! As HILARIOUS as this is, as needed as it was, it shows that we have more power than what we think, White people gon’ White people, and there is a whole purpose for anger (thank you, Audre Lorde!”). There is a quote from WARNING POEM by Langston Hughes mentioned in this episode as well—read ANYTHING by him. We are now the evidence of our ancestors’ sacrifice and faith—let us not forget that. 🖤🖤 *Note: “AquaMayne, Michael B. Phelps, Mike Tyson Phelps, is name is Aaren. Thank you to Phil Lewis for that confirmation. Correction: the lyric I quoted was actually from Jay-Z (song: IZZO)

Aug 01, 202332:24
Bonus #10: The Underside Of Safe (NSFW)
*Note: Carlee Russell has been found and is with her family. As we let the rest of this matter unfold, I will believe Black women until I have no reason NOT to! With all that is happening with Carlietha “Carlee” Russell, there is almost a Cthulhu nature to what is happening now. Within almost a week, this woman’s life (for good or ill) will never be the same…ever again. Yet, the darker thing is THE WHY.
Jul 19, 202332:13
Bonus #9: MS. COOKI ANN SAID #3: ROW YOUR BOAT!
“And Imma keep saying it!” It is always an EXPERIENCE when Ms. Cooki Ann is on this platform! She has declared her to be a free Black woman, and encourages other Black women to follow suite! She is not a public figure, a mammie, or a judge of your past—yet, this portion of wisdom shared here is a reminder that you will never be too old to be poured into—or be confirmed you are going in the right direction. In my Big Freedia voice, “YOU BETTER ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!”
Jul 15, 202301:16:21
S3.1: What’s Up, Danger! (Part 2/2)
*Note: This is the second part of the 2-part episode of the Season 3 Podcast. Pick up VENGEANCE IS THE BODY here: https://a.co/d/gP3HcNH.

With this conversation, Ms. Cooki Ann gives us this phrase: “journeying towards freedom”. From mental health, dating, and freedom for Black women, she reminds us that freedom is a moving target, and we as Black women must purpose to choose ourselves…daily.
Jun 01, 202357:56
Bonus #7: TINA.
Tina Turner is an ancestor (1938-2023). Read it again. I have never lived in a world where THERE WAS NOT TINA TURNER. She is--and always was--a FORCE OF NATURE. I hope she knew how loved she was.
May 30, 202318:43
Bonus #8: LeBron.
As we creep toward the end of the NBA season, the conversation of GOAT is occurring… Again. And I feel compelled this point to speak my piece about LeBron James. Comparison is the thief of joy, and sometimes… Heavy is the head that wears the Crown. CORRECTION: CoCo’s last name is Gauff.
May 30, 202320:59
S2.11: The Great Startovers
There is a power in admitting what you cannot do…and what you failed at. It is never a bad time—or too late—to start over. Some of the instances here will be mentioned in my new memoir THE WEEK THE WORLD ENDED (October 2024). This show isn’t meant to shame anyone…but it is to show I survived—so you know you will.
May 18, 202350:41
S2.10: Black Like Us
Being Black is lit, and not everybody can be it! You all have heard me say this on multiple platforms. And yet with the continuous deaths of young Black men, I believe it will be a violence for me to be silent. From the words of #BlackAdam, my own experiences, my cultural awareness, and being a student of history, I believe it would be a violence to stay silent. Just because Carolyn Bryant died, doesn’t mean her kids, the bitter root, by which she came, in the evilness that still surrounds us is all gone. In fact, far from it. Shouts to BLACK FLUID POET, BlackAdam, CFStory, and my brother Thomas The Villain. Love y’all so.
May 05, 202337:01
S2.9: Feminism, Womanism & The Madame Complex with Imdavendrew (Part 1)
Femininity is complex for Black women. With all this blame and dogging of Black women of what we are, are not, and cannot hope to become—I introduce “femininity coaches” into this convo. With the help of TikTok Good Sister Imdavendrew, we’re about to get to the bottom of this here! ***Note: PART TWO IS TBD.***
Apr 25, 202301:19:45
S2.8: Angela, Angel & Err’bady Else
Black women will always be too much for world. That is undeserving of them! We see how, for the want of the preservation of white women, mediocrity, and other vivid peoples opinions that Angela Bassett did not win best actress at this year‘s Oscars. We also see that a Angel Reese is still seen as the villain in the Cinderella story of the University of Iowa. For this show, it must be reminded to all of you that are listening: Black women don’t owe you nothing.
Apr 19, 202327:13
S2.7: Paging Mr. Majors
For this episode I give my reaction to this whole Jonathan Majors situation. It is heartbreaking to me as one who identifies herself as being a patron of the arts, and I support are there in. Well, none of us were there, historically we all were. And that we is… Black people. I was Jonathan every success going forward. And if it is found at this woman was lying on him? It wouldn’t be the first time, a White woman lied on a Black man and cried, would it?

Feb 17, 202327:41
S2.3 This Bridge Called My Back
I’m tired of black and sell culture. I am tired of police violence. This episode I discuss how these events are along the same spectrum. Both of these are fueled, and fostered by socialization expectations and experience. Healing have to start… And it’s gonna be uphill and hard.
Feb 08, 202329:16
S2.2: Black Teachers Have Entered The Chat (conversation with Dr. Angeline Williams-Jackson)
I am proud to call Dr. Angeline Williams-Jackson sister. She is brilliant, beautiful, and about that life!
