A private detective gets a mysterious package from a friend of his containing a bizarre artifact. When he discovers his friend has been murdered, he decides he needs to find out what happened and why.  What happens next takes the detective into a world of alternate universes, strange creatures and unimaginable nightmares. 

Living on an island is sometimes considered the ideal situation. Separated from the rest of the world, it can seem an idyllic setting. However, what happens when you are isolated from the rest of the world, when the rest of the world starts going to hell. The people on this small island are about to find out as the world dies around them. How far will they go to protect their isolated home? How far will they go to keep it a Safe Haven?

Oh, its so easy to say horrible, terrible, things when you can hid behind a microphone. When you can't see the people you're hurting with your words, then you can pretend you aren't hurting anyone. Except tonight. Tonight, one vitriolic radio personality is about to see words can come back to bite you and make you bleed - when the night comes out.

Do the dead speak? Do they reach back out to us from some other place just to say hello? Can they be summoned to help those of us still stuck over here? One little girl, with a powerful family history of magic she isn't even aware of, is about to find out. Because even a butterfly can mean something very powerful - when the night comes out.

Darkness comes early in the U.S. during the month of September. When the moon comes out, if you stand outside, you might hear the coyotes barking or dogs howling. Usually, they mean no harm - but not this time. Because up means down, left means right, good means bad in a place where - the night comes out.

It seems to be a foregone conclusion that children see more than adults do. Sometimes they see things we hope to never see. The small town of Knorr hides a lot of secrets. This is one of them. Because even the smallest of towns can hide the biggest secrets - when the night comes out.
