Joe Kruse - Big Woods Bucks

Joe Kruse - Big Woods Bucks

Hunting vast, desolate land is a bit different than what we're used to here in the midwest by and large. This week on the show, Greg and Eric are joined by Joe Kruse from Big Woods Bucks out of Maine. Joe breaks down how they go about tracking deer, doing more of a still-style all-day hunt rather than sitting and waiting like a lot of us are used to.

We talk about their approach to hunting both whitetails and also moose. Moreover, Joe talks about what they consider to be a trophy animal, and also how they pack out when they're deep in the backwoods of Maine, what to wear, and also some of his favorite wild game meals.

Big Woods Bucks also has their own podcast in addition to guiding, lodging, and outfitting - be sure to check them out!

Chris Whitley - Get Outdoors 2Day

Are you on TikTok? If not, you might be missing out on some really practical and entertaining deer hunting content! Not to mention, a ton of young hunters are on the platform. Chris Whitley with Get Outdoors 2Day thought the TikTok was just a social platform for people to goof off among other things, but it turns out there's an appetite for more hunting content. Rather than watching a 20-minute how-to YouTube video for 2 minutes of what you really needed to learn, Chris has created several dozens of short-form, quick-hit practical tips for hunters on the platform. New hunters are highly engaged in learning more from this new platform.

More than just social media talk, we do dive into talking turkey and as a competitive caller, Chris brought along some turkey calls to demonstrate some of the ways he's successfully called in turkeys!

Nic De Castro - LandTrust

Nic De Castro - LandTrust

Nic De Castro with LandTrust joins us this week to talk about their new platform. LandTrust is a marketplace that enables sportsmen to book hunting trips on private lands across the US. They hope to increase quality, private-land access for hunters and create a new, profitable revenue stream for rural landowners like farmers & ranchers to keep rural lands intact & in family hands, rather than being sold off for more and more development.

It's a very interesting topic, and our listeners added a ton of value and perspective to the conversation with their questions during the live broadcast.

We're LIVE every Tuesday, from 6 PM - 7 PM CST if you'd like to tune in and join the conversation we'd love to hear from you!
