Why I Stay Podcast with Lynzi ClydeMay 07, 2024
"We Know" - Shima Baughman
"Think of Jesus and his pace of life. He's four days late for Lazarus. He spent two days here when he was on his way somewhere else. It's okay if we take longer to do things and if we don't get all the things done... It's going to God's house that gives me that peace."
Shima tells how years of intense hip pain and infertility lead her family to a miracle, how she sees Jesus Christ changing the lives of convicts, and that Alma 7:23 gives her direction on how to become like Jesus, a little bit at a time.

"The Lord is Still Expecting Me" - Jonathan Jensen
"When that depression comes, it's like, 'Wow, I really feel like I don't know what I'm doing anymore, and I need to figure it out.' But part of that is learning how to adapt. And for me, part of that adaptation came after many, many experiences of this over the years, ... trying to be in close proximity to people that I know ARE feeling the spirit. It helps, it really helps."
Jonathan talks about how belief can lead to action, and when someone is depressed, believing Christ through past experiences and believing in someone else's belief is a valid way to make it through. He talks about his divorce, and how he tried so hard to pray and qualify for blessings and his marriage still ended, and how a simple question from his seven year old daughter got him back on spiritual track. 2 Nephi 10:20 helps Jonathan ask, "What's next?" and gives him courage to bring others along with him, too.

"I'm not afraid to ask why, because I always get an answer."
Karin talks about how she is not afraid to ask God "why," that serving others and letting others serve her LIGHTS HER UP and builds connection between us, and that flipping to a scripture in Mosiah (24:13-14) showed her that the Lord heard her prayers, and that her covenants with Him are what ultimately saves her.

⚡Why Hasn't Jesus Come Yet?⚡
If people tell you it's been long enough, and that the Second Coming ISN'T coming, will you believe them? In 2 Peter 3, we read about WHY it seems like the Lord is taking SOO LONG to come again, and WHAT we can do while we wait.
My witness is that Jesus WILL come, and that He will come "as a thief in the night" as the scriptures say. (2 Peter 3:10)

THROWBACK EPISODE FROM 2021!!
"Choosing faith is something that has brought me a lot of peace. ... Ultimately, no matter how you look at the gospel, eventually you're going to have to get to the place of faith: whether you believe it or you don't." Lindsey relates that moving home to Tennessee for a few years and having discussions with her family helped her mature in the gospel, how learning about our theology encourages her to continue to explore the doctrine, and that the importance of "giving way" for the children has impressed her recently.

"There is No Other Way" - Curt Bailey
"We're all human beings, and we all have thresholds of tolerance. And when we get pushed beyond those thresholds, we really have to learn how to turn things over to the Savior." Curt talks about his skiing accident at age 18, leaving him a T4 paraplegic and how it forced him to navigate life in a whole new way, that his patriarchal blessing is the anchor that helped him have hope for a future and a family after his accident, and how a few scriptures, (Matt 11:23, Alma 26:12, D&C 122:7) help him see that with the Lord, it doesn't matter what fierce winds come against us, if we know that we are nothing, but with the Lord we can do all things, we can hold on the way and "fear not."

"I find so much more fulfillment and so much more joy as I turn to the Savior and as I try to center my life on Him." Annie talks about the courage to stand up to say she wouldn't play soccer on Sundays. She also talks about realizing she wasn't spiritually in the place she wanted to be, and the steps she took to make that right. "I Could Not Leave Christ" - Raisa Rock
"It doesn't shatter my testimony [when God gives us changes in the Church.] I feel grateful that God feels like He can trust us enough now that He can give us different guidance and direction."

"It Changed the History of My Family" - Thalia Ulibarri
"[After my mother's death] I came home, and I had to go to church by myself with my kids every week, and I thought, 'I just don't think I can do it. It's just too daunting.' I just told Heavenly Father, 'I can't do this by myself. You're going to have to help me.'"
Thalia has experienced the heart-wrenching deaths of her mother and grandmother from cancer, and she shares her maturing process between those times, and how promptings from God helped her do what she needed to do, even when it was difficult. She shares about coming home after her mother's death, and that the grief and the "shutting down" made it very difficult to feel the spirit. She loves the scriptures and gives glory to God for how this Gospel has changed her life. Listen to the episode to hear how Jesus came through for her at her weakest moment.
