Bank of America (Temporarily) Closes 100s of Locations: Blames Everything But Themselves
(Podcast contains explicit language, Listener Discretion is Advised) I made a prediction about 18 months ago Bank of America would love to "Try" to close down most branches in a market to see how clients would react and also to push their "alternative ways of banking agenda. Well, the mission has begun. Twitter was overrun with complaints of Bank of America being closed in Vegas and Bakersfield, CA during the beginning of July. Here is a report from 8 News Now in Vegas and 23ABC in Bakersfield that mentions the same issue in those two towns with the EXACT SAME STATEMENT from a "BofA Spokesperson". (You get to hear my banker impression again) They basically try to play the sympathy card and state that they do this "out of an abundance of caution for employees and clients" due to COVID-19 and allude to possible scenarios where employees had to call out to care for family members. This from a bank that once told a female coworker in front of me, "Ugh..again?" when she announced her 3rd pregnancy plus the fact that you can't take off on the first week of the month without a DAMN good excuse. Why the change? The thing not thought about? Both states do their unemployment system through Bank of America, and the huge impact millions of additional people frequenting those branches and their ATMs led to massive cash shortages. Couple that with CEO Moynihan's desire to cut back on some of those services (As he mentioned in a Fox Business Interview in July 2019) and you see a bank rather have pissed off clients because they are closed, rather than them being open and not able to give out cash. The branches don't have the capability at the branch level to facilitate more cash ordered thats not "forecasted" in the system. Sigh. I give examples of how those things happened over the years with me, and how the routines of ATM refills and cash ordering are set by the Bank which accounts for all variables, including the holiday that's been around for 244 years and the fact the 1st of the month is always busy! Plus I tell a little story about getting yelled at for hitting a button too many times, which proves my point that BofA monitors EVERYTHING, which tells me this was more calculated than unfortunate incident. Oh, and Atlanta, Tampa, Orlando, are some other cities with closed branches too. OMG. Listen to this today! The Notorious Banker Rescues $3490 for Victor from Zelle and BofA - A NYC-Style Recovery!
The Notorious Banker has conquered NYC. Yours truly helped Victor, an essential employee in NYC recover $3490 from Bank of America which was stolen from him with the use of their evil product, Zelle. In the podcast, I discuss (again) my dislike for Zelle, and how it causes so many issues for people, including Victor. Using it only for family purposes, he wasn't an active user of Zelle. But when nearly $3500 comes out of his account which wasn't his transaction, they made Victor feel like he was to blame for the money getting lost, and they ended up declining him without ever looking at any evidence that he obviously got hacked. Cue yours truly. The Notorious Banker comes in like a bat out of hell, and showed Victor how to press the issue, seeking guidance from a lot of BofA leaders in NYC. After initially helping they decided to use a tired excuse they have used before on clients of mine: "Have your cell phone company write us a notarized letter saying you were hacked" Something BofA knows they don't or won't do for obvious security questions and liability purposes. When it seemed like all hope was gone, I used some "creative writing" to scare BofA into passing the buck to a person who could actually help and within a couple days, Victor got his money back. I hope to interview him for a future podcast, so stay tuned for that. It was exciting. Victor was the 900th person I helped in one year, recouping over a million bucks in the process. The Notorious Banker Interviews Nancy, a Former Co-Worker - Part 1
After over 100 episodes, The Notorious Banker has his first guest. My old Co-Worker Nancy stops by and chats about our time at Bank of America. (Warning, it's a long one.. and there will be a part 2, but it is fun and interesting) We worked together for over 3 years (2014-2017), but we didn't become friends until the day after I had a life-changing moment while vacationing in Las Vegas.  In the podcast, we talk about how we got our start at BofA, old customers, how we knew that we were training customers to inevitably get rid of our jobs, and discussing how she feels about teaching her kids about banking. Plus we discuss how we became friends through two of the most stressful times in my life. A suicide attempt, and a home loan fuck-up that almost made me homeless and how the loan office played me and us like a fiddle, and how although we started at two different branches and BofA calls us all "teammates", we were rivals that didn't like each other. We also touch upon the benefits and perils of being bilingual in a branch and also why we still care about the banking world after leaving it and how people stay way too long in roles at the bank, which fucks up their customer service, because they stop caring. There will be a part 2 with listener questions, submit them today. I HAVE A NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH EXCLUSIVE VIDEOS AND QUICK HITS ON NEWS STORIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. So....What Exactly Are All Those Work-From-Home People Doing for Bank of America?
Bank of America claims (falsely) that 75 percent of their workforce is working-from-home. With hours long hold times, and a lot of apathy towards customers in need, I dispute that claim wholeheartedly.  Dean Athanasia, A big-time exec for Bank of America has his weekly column on BofA's internal website called "Dean's List" (How Original). In this week's edition, he outlined how Work-From-Home Associates are helping keep Bank of America  operationally excellent (laughs). We talk about what's in his column How people who are basically glorified tellers are propping up the PPP Loan Processing for BofA Helping people in the call centers with coronavirus related issues, like forbearance on home and auto loans, plus fee refunds That Branch Managers are helping answer social media questions on @BofA_Help on Twitter and Facebook, potentially interacting with me, haha. How they are tasked with helping with Estate Services, a department SORELY in need of an attitude adjustment How they turn delightful, cheery Relationship Bankers into working for the collections and recovery department where they will facilitate repos and charged off accounts. Those people are usually hardasses I discuss how I feel this is a placeholder until they lay off people. It only makes sense that this is the case.  I HAVE A NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH EXCLUSIVE VIDEOS AND QUICK HITS ON NEWS STORIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. Please like, subscribe and share. Make it HUGE! Bank of America Donates $25 Million to Fund An Important Discussion No One Will Be Able To Listen To
Bank of America patted themselves on the back again. One week after "committing" to a billion dollars to end racial inequality, they decided to put out another press release touting the donation of $25 million to the Smithsonian Institute for "“Race, Community and Our Shared Future” Initiative. While I am happy Bank of America wants to bring this conversation to the public, they brought a weird partner in for that with their tax break...I mean donation. Smithsonian says, "The initiative will launch with a series of virtual town hall conversations among global and national leaders in civil rights, social justice and economic mobility to help drive meaningful change across policy. Programming will be presented nationally and in local markets, engaging people in communities across the country on issues relating to race and equity." So why do they need money? Why can't they use zoom or skype like we all are now to interact. Why do they need "programming" that takes time to develop? Plus why are they...? Having it on the Smithsonian Channel, a $5/month subscription service which I am sure is not readily subscribed to by minorities Having exhibits in a museum where 74% of museum goers are white, only 7% black and 5% Hispanic, and nearly half hold a master's degree or higher. Wow. I discuss how they can better have these conversations in their own communities using their own damn branches and not on a paid TV channel. I also discuss stories of how they tried these assembled events at one point to talk to students, where I was hung up on, despite the fact I was bearing gifts to give. Plus, I sing the song "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly"...What? Plus, I also criticize Bank of America for not mentioning George Floyd's name, despite the fact all this philanthropy is because of what happened to him, and I rail against that weak sauce. Oh.. Plus the museum isn't open because of Covid-19. Sigh. Plus I give you a preview of my Premium Podcast Available with a $2 or more donation on Patreon: Sex Work and Banking, where I discuss issues the Adult World has with big banks and doing simple things like trying to get their money. Bank of America's Billion Dollar Lie - My 100th Episode
Congrats to myself for making it 100 episodes. Tells you there is a lot to talk about with big banks! This topic is hard for me to talk about, because it's about racism and discrimination, but it needs to be told. Bank of America put out a press release Tuesday announcing a "Billion Dollar Commitment" to end racial inequality. When I woke up, I got 15 DMs all asking me if it was BS. Well... The Billion Dollars isn't a donation to charities (mostly) They do give to some medical facilities in Chicago, DC and LA, but Only 0.02% of it is going to that ($2 Million) to be spread out over 38 locations! The bulk of it is committing to lending to African-American owned businesses and for African-Americans to get home loans, or in other words, so Bank of America can give them money to borrow, which was the law already (fair lending) so black people can pay it back with interest. In other words, BofA is actually going to MAKE money on this..  Second, Bank of America is touting "Further recruitment and retention of teammates in low-to-moderate-income and disadvantaged communities to build on work the company has already done to serve clients locally." Meaning? They are spending money on themselves to hire and keep their people. What?!?! Plus, they are including an already promised and enforced pay raise to $20 an hour as part of their "Giving" here (from what I gather with the wording of it) Check out my twitter thread about it here! They refer to the death of George Floyd and Protests as "The events of the past week".  Look, giving people jobs and pay raises internally is NEEDED AND DESERVED, but it's not charity because you worded it that way (thats why I hate BofA pr).  There are some parts of the $1 Billion commitment I don't understand, but some are crystal clear.. $1 Billion is not leaving BofA's pockets!!!! To capitalize on George Floyd and the hurt the country is going through by giving people the impression you are actually giving money away is gross. I went off on the podcast. How the Protests Across The Country and Big Banks Intersect
We talk about George Floyd on this podcast. We don't talk about the incident on Monday so much as to the environment that society is in with discrimination and frustration, especially as it pertains to dealing with banks when you are a person of color. I discuss my outlook on how we shouldn't paint all job lines with one broad brush, whether it's cops or lawyers or bankers even, yet it is our duty to point out when something is wrong. I get into detail about discrimination I've seen and felt for employees and customers during my time in banking, and I talk about vandalism of banks during this crazy time, and how I understand it, especially if you have had incidents with a big bank, as most lower class people and minorities do. I am not equipped to talk about all the stuff with the case, but I am equipped to discuss with you how banks make certain people feel, and that I can understand the pain given by banks which can add on to pain from other aspects of life. I send my best wishes out to whoever is hurting at the moment. Take Care I HAVE A NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH EXCLUSIVE VIDEOS AND QUICK HITS ON NEWS STORIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. The Notorious Banker Rescues $7600 from Bank of America for "B" from Arizona!
Yours truly has done it again. The Notorious Banker has rescued $7600 from Bank of America for fraud committed on a customer. It was fraud which Bank of America did not want to refund despite overwhelming evidence proving it wasn't him! I received a random Patreon donation and message from "B" in Arizona, who searched for "BofA Fraud" on Apple Podcasts was sent to me on a Wednesday night while I was on a mission to buy the cheapest kitty litter possible, even thought I don't own a cat.  He mentioned that while in Arizona,  his account was used to cash 4 $1900 checks in Long Island NY one day, and New Jersey the next day without ever presenting ID. All 4 banks cashed checks without a hitch. When the fraud was eventually caught, they told "B" that they could not give temp credit and he would have to wait up to 60 days for the claim to process, despite giving a signature sample to a local police dept, getting a police report, and proving he was at work at the time, with backup from his employer as well! Reaching out to me, the message sounded similar to all the other fraud I have dealt with over the last few months, and I claim to my wife, "I bet I can get this done in 1 day" without seeing the check images. When I do see the images, I affirm that statement and help B write a detailed letter calling out BofA on their fraud protection and pointing out all the errors. B gets an exec's phone number, an apology and his money back in one day. B rewards me with a nice donation, which I am thankful for. Bank of America, you can't stop me. My Wife's 30th Birthday: How I Oversold Her At Bank of America + Empty ATMs in Vegas and California - A Mailbag Podcast
I celebrate my beautiful wife's 30th birthday on Tuesday with the story how my sales goals at Bank of America made me oversell a then college student Gabrielle with a checking account, which led into a credit card. That also led to my dreaded home loan with Bank of America in 2016.  Learn how the overselling never really benefited me, but merely the branch so they can hit their goals. Listen to how getting her a savings account one day, given to my coworker Nancy led to a chewing out of me for not getting sales, which also happened with the home loan as well. Learn about the origins of my analogies "Bank Car Wash" and "Crackers (Bread Crumbs) in the meatloaf accounts" as well. Plus, I touch base with a follower who mentioned the money is missing from ATMs in Nevada. I elaborate on the shortages Bank of America ATMs are going through in some big states with a high unemployment rate, because BofA issues unemployment debit cards in that state. Learn why BofA does not give two shits about you not getting money, making you want to swipe your card in lieu of cash! News Story Here. The Notorious Banker: PPP Loan Champion + Bank of America Exec Sends The Most F**king Ridiculous Email to Customer
The Notorious Banker has helped 3 people get PPP Loans through Bank of America's gauntlet this week. My sincere thanks to the following businesses who I helped get through the hard stuff and get these loans White Spider in Portland, OR Maine Academy of Gymnastics in Westbrook, ME Isabel O'Neil Bridal in Tampa, FL Working on 5 more across the US. We will work hard to get this done for these amazing American small businesses :) I discuss why BofA's decision to donate all PPP Profits kind of influences how hard they work, since they are working for nothing. Plus, I get into how their low-ball offers for applicants mimics how they do auto loans, or should I say discourages clients into getting auto loans from them. Finally, I discuss a news story in Tampa, FL where a customer held a "sit-in" for 6 hours to get help with a PPP Loan, and BofA BS'ed the client and the reporter with the phoniest email address ever: ppp_help@bofa.com.  LOL Then, I get into the worst email a BofA exec has ever sent my follower. My friend Seth asked New Hampshire Market President Ken Sheldon for $14 for a monthly fee refund, and the reply back essentially tells Seth that because Amazon, Netflix, Peloton, booze distributors and baking companies (Not banking, BAKING!) are succeeding that using the Coronavirus as an excuse for a refund is not valid. Plus he mentions that since BofA is investing in charities nationwide, that they NEED Seth's fee to make that happen. He also mentions BofA PAYING for employees lunches somehow keeps them safe from the virus. (???) Here's a sample quote: "to broadly waive fees to even those that don’t need the help at this time would be impractical and disable our ability to help those in true need." You gotta listen to my bank voice version of this! Haha Email screenshots are here and here I HAVE A NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH EXCLUSIVE VIDEOS AND QUICK HITS ON NEWS STORIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. Taylor Made: The Notorious Banker Rescues $1200 from Zelle and Bank of America in Vegas, Baby!
Vigilante Customer Service Strikes Again. One of my most satisfying rescues ever. Yours Truly, The Notorious Banker RESCUES $1200 from Bank of America and Zelle and gives it back to Taylor in Vegas. This was a stressful one, but we got it done. Taylor only uses Zelle for one person. One day, her Zelle is hacked, and $1200 is stolen. BofA tells her to wait 10 days (a lie) before filing a claim, and then denies her, citing they sent an authorization text. This is where I get involved. We reach out to Al Welch, who is best known for taking pics of him "building houses in a full suit with shoes not even the slightest bit dirty" and we get nowhere. So we reach out to someone named Chris Godbey. He seems nice at first: Email here Chris Godbey, the market leader then "ESCALATES" it to someone with absolutely no resources to help Taylor, and is stuck in an office on the phone for an  hour to be told that they can't do anything without proof that she never got the text. When she provides phone records showing no text ever happened, they change their story, and say that it was "her IP address" that showed that she in fact initiated it. A claim never before heard. When She emails Chris Godbey again, she is met  with a brick wall, citing the company line that she in fact got an authorization code for the stolen Zelle Transfer Email Here of Godbey's Robotic response Seemingly hopeless, Taylor and I contemplate giving up, until we reach out to 8 News Now in Vegas, and their Investigative Reporter, Vanessa Murphy with a letter that I crafted and had her send, CC'ing Bank of America in it stating all the bullshit things we know about Zelle and BofA claims. Bank of America bowed down like the dogs they are, and didn't even have the courtesy to call to say it was refunded. She had won.  In two days, she gets her money back, and here we are celebrating! It's a long story, and I spent over an hour on it, because it was the most meaningful rescue in a long time, because we went from hopeless to finding a new way to scare Bank of America.  BANK OF AMERICA FEARS THE NOTORIOUS BANKER $660,000 RESCUED SINCE 4-1-19 I HAVE A NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL WITH EXCLUSIVE VIDEOS AND QUICK HITS ON NEWS STORIES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. They No Longer Want The (Regulation) D: Major Rule Change in Banking Affects a Lot of Bank Clients!
Woke up Friday Morning to a press release from the Federal Reserve that was Retweeted out by Notorious Banker Follower @kentumin which mentions the suspension, or at least the recommendation to suspend Regulation D, an 80+ year old rule that actually impacts more bank customers now than back when. Ken's Story Long story short, it eliminates the penalty of using your savings account more than 6 times a month, a penalty that happens a lot more often with the advent of mobile banking and the relative ease of moving money around with that tool. I discuss my very first bank account when I was 15 years old, which introduced me to Regulation D to the tune of $81 the first month I had the account. How that delinquency actually delayed my employment at Bank of America ever so slightly, and how I used to find creative ways to circumvent the rule with the customers I opened accounts for. Regulation D was a big reason why I dislike savings accounts, and now, it's likely gone for good, although big banks don't have to abide by the recommendation! Discrimination, Firings, and Suicide: 3 Bank of America Small Business Issues I Witnessed Personally + It's My 37th Birthday!
With the Paycheck Protection Program loan program in shambles and awaiting money for the next wave of loans, I reminisce about 3 different small business stories I witnessed in my 13 years of Bank of America employment. - How Bank of America seemed to always close Asian nail salon business accounts, leaving some of them with the inability to bank. - How an ex-coworker and friend of mine had her side hustle, Cutesy Cakes, squashed by a irritable manager who tried to suppress her fiscal independence fight, writing her up and firing her. - How one of my favorite customers committed suicide 4 days after I put in a request to have a Small Business Loan Specialist call him to discuss loan options for his Hot Dog restaurant, Chicago SW. That one still haunts me to this day.... More info Plus, I talk about my upcoming 37th Birthday on April 21, and just think back to all the birthday interactions with my branch coworkers and how it was tension filled and uncaring the way the "office birthday" scene was created. Big Banks Give Payday Loan Style Refunds During Stimulus Deposts + More PPP BS
We had a record breaking week discussing all things stimulus checks. People waiting for a long time, people blaming the bank and people just waiting to catch up on their bills. One follower tweeted at me about a weird credit that came with his stimulus check, and it blew my mind. Bank of America fronted him the money that he was overdrawn to make sure that he got the full amount of his stimulus I have never seen that before. Here's a video of me talking about it, with my mind blown. Now, all big banks are doing it, creating a payday loan style credit, which will be due in a month, when theoretically we can still be broke and in quarantine! It's insane. Story by Imami Moise from Reuters Here. I talk about how more overdrafts can happen because of autopays that will happen from certain companies like Netflix or Gyms. It's a scary notion, and I call for banks to permanently credit these differences! Plus, I talk about the PPP Loan and how the loan dollars dried up, with BofA customers stuck in "processing". Twitter was ablaze with angry people who were stuck in limbo, with BofA being accused of ignoring calls, emails and questions about what documents were needed to fund these loans. Now, with the money gone, BofA claims apps will still process. Reminds me a lot of my home loan process in 2016. I discuss my thoughts about how BofA impacted their loyal customers and don't give a shit about loyalty. So maddening. Newsday Story about PPP Here. MY PATREON Page! Stimulus Week - $1200 Never Made People So Crazy + I Rescued $2000 for Jennifer from Arizona!
Stimulus Checks are coming!  $1200 is coming to all of you who are expecting it from the Coronavirus Economic Relief Learn how a STUPID TWEET from the IRS has made people insane on Twitter this weekend! Money doesn't move on Saturday! I also give some big brother-ish advice on what to do with your money. News about the Stimulus Deposit PLUS My Vigilante Customer Service has recovered over $640,000 including nearly $2,000 for Jennifer from Arizona. She had her card stolen, Uber charges racked up, and Bank of America BLAMED her for logging in too much to her online banking. BS! I fought for her, and two days later, BofA submitted, and she got money back into her account. Vigilante Customer Service Strikes Again!!!! Video here! MY PATREON Page! Poo Pooing the PPP - Small Businesses Everywhere Get Royally Hosed by Bank of America & Wells Fargo
What a crazy last 4 days! Thursday Night - Bank of America suddenly lists requirements for the Paycheck Protection Plan Loan (PPP) on its site, and they aren't good. They require a longstanding "CREDIT" relationship with BofA on top of an account with them. Nearly all of the business clients I dealt with in the past couldn't get approved for lending with BofA, so they were being shut out. I was pissed.! In 3 hours, I got hundreds of thousands of hits on that post, and Twitter became madness Friday morning, with hundreds if not thousands of BofA Clients voicing their anger. 3 hours after that, CEO Brian Moynihan on CNBC mentions, they have "relaxed their requirements to getting the PPP Loan, eliminating a credit requirement" but the damage was done with all the bad PR. Score one for The Notorious Banker who's millions of tweets and RT's helped make that anger go viral! :) Article detailing Friday's Issue From the Inquisitr I also talk briefly about how President Trump and his Tweets and remarks supporting BofA caused work for The Notorious Banker to be screwed up because Twitter was a mess of pro and anti-Trump people arguing about non-bank stuff on a BofA tag...No politics, just my frustration by the flood of tweets. Plus, I discuss how Wells Fargo closed their PPP Window before it ever freaking opened on Sunday, and how it left thousands of SB owners stuck. I also talk about how they are blaming the government for punishing them by limiting their assets for their fake account scandal as a reason they aren't helping. BS! A really complicated affair. Plus I talk about my upcoming video content. Stay tuned for that! MY PATREON Page! My Relationship with Alcohol and Bank of America: A Personal Story
I decided on April Fool's Day to tell the most personal story of my journey.  Wanted to share it after a poll about people drinking on the job STUNNED me on my Twitter! My relationship with alcohol is a weird one. I never drank in high school or college, and barely drank as I got into the working world. Wasn't for me. Then I worked at Bank of America  and the stress-induced environment led to parties with co-workers that got people arrested and forced them to quit. I used alcohol to fortify my self-confidence, as I was overcoming shyness with women, sales, and the banking world. I partied too much as a kid, to the point of a nervous breakdown and starvation.  After a move to Las Cruces, NM, I used alcohol to make me forget of the verbal abuse the bosses of Bank of America launched on us on a daily basis. I would go on these benders with an old co-worker, Annette where we would drink to forget how much we hated it. That manifested into a weird personal relationship we had that was around for years until my November 2015 Suicide Attempt in Las Vegas, spurred on by a text message from Bank of America managers on my vacation.  I then talk about my fight to get rid of booze from my life then, as I only used it to numb the BofA stress.  One relapse since then. After my niece died, and they refused to let me leave the branch because no one was around to open accounts, I binge drank the day after she died and didn't face the issue face to face. Last drink I ever had except for other Vegas trips with my wife, and that was the day I stopped caring about Bank of America. Bank of America was nearly the only reason I drank from 2005-2017. I'm a teetotaler otherwise. Thanks for listening. MY PATREON Page! Ex Wells Fargo CEO Says Get Back to Work & Possibly Die + Bank of America Coronavirus (no) Relief?
Thanks for the 150 new followers @BankBetterGuy!  I discuss a freaking insane news article from Business Insider that was shared with me by a follower (Thanks Jerry) about Ex Wells Fargo CEO Richard Kovacevich mentioning we need to "get back to work" in the wake of the Coronavirus Scare and that "Some may get sick, some may die". Learn why I think (as if you don't realize yourself, that he's batshit crazy. Plus, I talk about Bank of America's insane week of talking about Coronavirus Relief and the things they offer in their news release. Of course everything is on a "case-by-case" basis, and doesn't actually promise you anything other than you can request help (Doesn't mean you will get it.) Learn how everyone found out skipping 3 months of payments with no negative impact is good, but that you would owe 4x your payment amount in 3 months!!! Learn How California Governor Gavin Newsom lit into BofA, sending Twitter on fire, and getting me restricted See how British Comedian and CBS Late Night Host James Corder got into the debate with Tweets Here and Here I also talk about a claim made to me by a teller that BofA is burning them out of their hazard pay. New Coronavirus Bank News (Hours, Sales & Bonuses) + I Rescue $5000 from Bank of America for Jessica
More CoronaVirus News from Bank of America and Chase. Both Banks gave "hazard pay" to it's front facing associates. I was appreciative of the gesture, but at the same time skeptical of their claims. Bank of America and Chase Limit Hours, But yet they are still Sales Pushing! I discuss that, and solutions to fix that! A East Coast Banker leaked a outbound call scripting from Bank of America reeking of phony empathy and even INVITING PEOPLE INTO THE BRANCH SO THEY CAN SELL THEM STUFF!! Yes, inviting them into the bank in the midst of all of us self-quarantining!!!! Unreal. Please check out the link above. Plus, I got to rescue a big amount of money from Bank of America Jessica had money for her business payroll stolen by evil a person through evil Zelle. Bank of America never bothered to look at her claim, denying it immediately, despite the fact Bank of America never saw that she never used online banking!  I play a voicemail she left the VM Line! Complaints from Employees and Customers About Coronavirus Concerns + A Leaked Memo
I went on a rant about Bank of America's coronavirus gameplan. I have received several DMs from angry Bank of America EMPLOYEES (Not Just Customers) about the conditions in the financial centers, call centers, and other places. Some bank branches are told to wear gloves, some aren't allowed to. Some places Lysol can't be used, because people are allergic, and a lot of people have just had it with Bank of America's handling of it. I discuss their frustration, plus some ideas of how they can use all their fancy equipment to get people out of their bank to provide a first-class experience without having 30 people in close quarters in a branch. Plus, I talk about a leaked email I got from a Bank of America associate that mentions Bank of America talking points on what to say to clients who ask about coronavirus issues. You guessed it, It reads like a sales pitch. Emphasizing digital banking. Never saying that they wouldn't close, and feeding them lies about cleaning protocols, whenever we didn't have a true janitor in my branch the last 3 years. (Note, most property management companies handle janitorial work, not the bank) Plus "restricting travel" for bank associates who never leave the branch usually. Ok. go to twitter.com/bankbetterguy, and I will be glad to share the document in private. MY PATREON Page! The Time I Almost Got Fired For Having Chubby Fingers (A True Story) + Coronavirus BS from Banks
I wanted to lighten the mood of all the CoronaVirus talk by talking about one of the 15 times Bank of America threatened to fire me. This story is 11 years old next week. I discuss how a random interaction with a stranger on a Thursday afternoon that took 15 seconds led to a terrifying 2 weeks where I thought I would lose my job. It all has to do with my big, chubby fingers. I am not kidding. Listen to how one of my insecurities almost made me job insecure. This is sadly a true story. Plus I talk about some ridiculous sh*t I saw on Twitter from a Wells Fargo PR spokesman, who basically sales pitched online banking off of CoronaVirus Tweet with the screenshots here Plus, I got a DM from an insider who is a banker at a BofA branch back east venting her frustrations because her manager just yelled at her for having a slow sales day in the midst of a Coronavirus mandated closure of a lot of schools/stores/etc. I discussed how she is forced to call people to invite them in, plus getting yelled at for not selling a credit card to a widow who was doing maintenance on her deceased husband's acocunt. Total BS, but we knew it was coming Her DM to me is on this Tweet MY PATREON Page! Bank of America Holds FEMA checks for Nashville Tornado Victims. What A Shock.
Just when I didn't think Bank of America can stoop any lower... I got word from a friend of mine, Sebastian in tornado-riddled Tennessee about a radio talk show host named Phil Valentine who was talking to a caller who had their FEMA Emergency Disaster Relief Check held by Bank of America for 10 days! Utterly ridiculous. Here's my Tweet sharing the original tweet I located on Twitter In today's podcast I will talk about How Bank of America's "customer migration" leads to this issue. ATM deposit not being able to be reviewed by an in-person banker. How customer calling customer service may recieve an assoc. uneducated about current events/disasters and a policy to not remove any holds at all costs How Sebastian mentioned to me that Bank of America was the only company wearing logo-branded shirts in his area How I think Bank of America needs to handle disasters instead of just throwing money and dead social media links to their followers. How FEMA outlines you spend this check for an emergency need that Bank of America is unwilling to help with How Bank of America has a goddamn ATM on wheels that they bring out for disasters, instead of people actually willing to help with real-life issues (not all issues are cash related) This is a topic that pisses me off. Yes, I did a Coronavirus Podcast...
Coronavirus is real, scary and has caused 9 deaths as of this podcast. I feel that it could be the biggest illness in a long while, or just more hype by an overactive social media. Only time will tell. However, banks are talking about it and people are talking about it. People are also asking me my thoughts on Coronavirus and banking. I decided to talk about 3 things in today's pod. The "possible" (speculation by me) things that a company like Bank of America can do with its employees. Read: Close bank branches like they already wanted and make call center jobs become work from home. The emergency interest rate cut, and the immediate desire to want to talk about loans for some reason in this time of the epidemic. Interesting Barron's Article that I refer to in the segment. My experience with Bank of America and germs. From shaming employees who go home sick to sweaty money all the way to simple handshake personal banker protocol, I discuss BofA's shortcomings on this, and I reference my hero George Carlin's Germs Bit MY PATREON Page! Wells Fargo Settles For $3,000,000,000 and All I Got Was This Lousy -- Nothing!!!
Wells Fargo made up for a decade and a half of treating it's customers like crap and overselling accounts, and creating phony accounts to hit their sales goals by giving those customers absolutely nothing, and giving $3 Billion to rich people who invested in it, and the United States Treasury.  I'm sure looking for a positive in all this, but I can't think of one. Wells, who pushed their bankers to the brink of a nervous breakdown, called them names, and overall just made a mockery of banking, got off relatively light, and without a sincere apology News Release from Wells Fargo Here My podcast breaks down how goddamn nerdy their news release was, even renaming the scandal to make it sound like some rite of passage. I talk about how some of their past ways of "making it up" aside from the money are facetious, and hell, even make Bank of America look better by comparison. I then break down how a random media source covered it. I picked NPR  (Link to Article Here) No political bias or anything...It was literally close my eyes and point. I talk about how we as consumers and how I, as a former banker look at this scandal and can't help but chuckle at how surreal it is. Wells Fargo give 10-figures as a result of this, and you, Mr. or Ms. Listener don't get a damn thing, unless you are a significant shareholder. Sucks to be you-- I mean all of us :( MY PATREON Page! My Bomb Threat Story at the Bank + Listener Q&A about Large Amounts of Money & Betty Boop (???)
Ever wondered how to get yelled at and nearly written up by your boss during the moments that a person on the phone called the bank claiming there was a bomb that was going to blow up the bank in five minutes? Well, have I got the story for you... Haha Listen to my detailed account of the one bomb threat we had at Bank of America while I worked there, how my manager and regional managers screwed everything up, and how Bank of America Corporate Security yelled at us for "NOT BEING CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE BANK" while we were evacuated. (WTF?!?!?!) Plus Two Listener Questions about large transactions/amounts of money I handled + The dumbest reason someone ever closed out their account. Pay Hundreds To Get Your Tax Refund Check Today, Bank Still Holds the Check 10 Days (Refund Anticipation Loans Suck) + BofA Sticks it to Venmo Users
Tax time was always important to me at the bank. It is one of the busiest new account times at the bank. So many people setting up bank accounts in anticipation of or after the receipt of their income tax check. One of the things that I saw in 13 years of banking are Refund Anticipation Loans, where people pay a little extra to get a paper check to "cash" that same day. It involves a credit pull and a big fee usually. Well, Banks for years have screwed over those who get those Anticipation Loan Checks by holding checks up to 10 business days after deposit.  I called it a scam then and now. Tax preparers sell you on the quickness of something they can't verify with a big bank like Bank of America and Wells Fargo. I discuss the process and tell some stories from my past. Then, I also got a couple DMs about Bank of America now charging Cash Advance Fees for people to use their Credit Card for Venmo Payments. Venmo actually updated their terms as of 4 hours ago on Feb. 14, mentioning the updated policy. I get into  how I believe that it's a method to get people to use Zelle more often, and to discourage use of competitors by penalizing something that wasn't penalized before. A lot of millennials will be impacted by this! Not cool, BofA. My Visit Inside a Phoenix-Area Bank of America Branch. It Took Them 20 Seconds to Try to Get Me Out of There!!!
For the first time since 8-17-18, the day I got fired, I went into a Bank of America Branch. This one is in Tempe AZ, and boy, what an adventure it was. Going in to close out my accounts that were charging me $37/month, I decided to take care of business while on vacation. I set an appointment, which is what they want you to do. I show up early to give them something to process, and in an empty bank, with 5 bankers standing around not doing anything, I was referred to the 1-800 number within 20 seconds of walking in. You will hear audio of the beginning of my interaction with a woman named Naomi. She did a great job, though her training has taught her to not care about customers needs and to pawn them off to somewhere else. I talk about the survey I left her, and why I gave her a 9 because anything lower, and she would get yelled at/written up. I talk about my feelings of seeing how the service has changed, and overall my observations of a bank in crisis in person. Non-Disclosure Agreements: Not Just For Harvey Weinstein Anymore! Bank of America's Attempt to Shut You Up When Fraud Happens!
I think that this new rule I had never heard about is about me and The Notorious Banker Project, along with Why Your Bank Sucks and how I help people publicly fight back against BofA when they deny your fraud claim and claim to help An Awesome Story by The WSJ's Sarah Krouse detailing a new rule that Bank of America has. Basically, before they help you with fraud, they make you sign an NDA to keep you from talking about it, and also give you talking points to say to people when asked. This is insane. The WSJ story covers an old man who got swindled, and their attempt to "help him".. Gives you insight onto how the elderly are duped, but BofA is not there to protect anyone other than their self interests. I helped people with claims in a branch 13 years, and I have never seen this level of secrecy, and not to mention the disclosure that Bank of America "MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RECOVER YOUR MONEY" WTF?!?!? My Favorite Kobe Bryant Story (Business Related) and How My Boss Got Mad At Me Because of College Football and Alabama (What?)
Today's podcast is so different. I decided to share my favorite non-basketball Kobe Bryant story. I get criticized all the time for not seeming like I like big business and capitalism.. I love it, as long as it is responsibly done. Kobe Bryant passed away Sunday and all I could think about is something I read the week I got fired. He invested in a company. Put $6 million in, walked out with $200 million. Amazing story about the drive to be successful. Link is for article about his investment. RIP KOBE. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2791197-report-kobe-bryants-6m-investment-in-bodyarmor-sports-drink-now-worth-200m Plus I didn't know where else to put this BofA story, but I talk about an interaction I once had with a family from Alabama in my office. My regional manager was observing my sales skills right behind me, and I ask a question about Alabama college football that endeared that family to me the entire time I worked at BofA that made me seem to care about them, which I did. I get nothing but love from the family, and I get a chewing out from my boss and nearly a written warning. I asked a simple college football question that someone from the state of Alabama has an answer to. Haha. Listen to how I felt. Wells Fargo CEO Fined $17.5 Million for Fake Account Scandal - Is it enough? Thoughts on INSANE OCC Report on Wells Corruption
https://www.occ.gov/news-issuances/news-releases/2020/nr-occ-2020-6.html Read the OCC Report on Wells Fargo Scandal. John Stumpf, Fresh off his $9 Million home purchase "his wife" made for them in Phoenix, got fined $17.5 million and banned from Banking. Damn, that fresh faced youngster is only 66, whatever will he do for a career? I share my thoughts, and my parallels during my time at Bank of America, along with commenting on some of the interesting notes in the report. From an exec oversold and told to shut up about it, to a veteran of war saying the stress was worse at Wells, to a threat of sending someone to a "Wells Fargo where someone was killed" as a punishment for poor performance, it's all there. BofA CEO's Insane Interview with Financial Times + Leaked Video Shows Bank of America Denying Black Customer Trying To Cash Check
I had to do this podcast due to the overwhelming DMs I got asking me my opinion on these two things. https://www.ft.com/content/a1a25664-38ff-11ea-a6d3-9a26f8c3cba4 https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bofa-bac-double-domestic-consumer-132001358.html CEO of Bank of America, Brian Moynihan discusses his desire to double Bank of America's Market Share in this interview.  Learn why that doesn't mean more customers. It means less of you and more of rich people. Learn also why he thinks him visiting branches to learn more about the customers wouldn't work, and "be a distraction" as if he is widely known by the general public. Give me a break Plus I got over 100 DMs about this Video from Worldstar Hip Hop about a business owner confronting Assistant Manager of a BofA in Los Angeles, Christopher Gomez for cashing all of the checks for his employees, except for the African-American Employees check I will discuss how we were told to "verify" checks for non-clients, making it extremely uncomfy to be there, and then when we would try half-assedly to verify the check and not be successful, we could tell the person we couldn't help them. Learn the tricks they made us use to do this denial of service. Learn that most non-customers going to cash checks were people of color.  You also will hear my thoughts as the audio plays out about what is happening, including the cops being called. Source: Bank of America to Make It That Much Harder to Deposit YOUR Check (Or Cash It) -- Leak From A Current Pissed Off Banker
I have dozens of people who work for Bank of America filling me in on the ins and outs of what's happening to impact the customers of the bank. I have Personal Bankers (RMs), Call Center employees, both BofA in-house and outsourced, one Financial Center Manager in Vegas, and One former manager in Vegas, plus I am friends with several employees in the Las Cruces/El Paso/Dallas areas who still work there. I was tipped off on a "Need to Know" training that is describing a policy that is ending at BofA really soon. In the immediate future, Bank of America will cease giving immediate credit for check deposits at the ATM citing "security reasons". The policy, which has been around for 15 years is ending, despite customers being proactively pushed to the ATM to make said deposit. Also, check cashing will be "discouraged" as an alternative as "policies on check cashing will continue to evolve". The tipster said, "As we continue to push direct deposit" (Their Words) In reality: It's to keep more money in-house longer The policy on not trying to cash people's checks coincides with a desire to scale back cash logistics to "save money" To dissuade people from utilizing checks at Bank of America To goose people into enrolling into direct deposit when possible (this is a bonus metric on bankers and managers goals) Those who get paychecks, those working class folks will have to wait at least one day, whereas they could have their money immediately most of the time, and those checks very well could be subjected to holds going forward, which I believe will prompt a lot of the lower-income population of BofA customer to consider leaving, which is really what I believe Bank of America desires.  I discuss this in great detail. Any further info employees want to drop off... Bank of America: "We Invite You to Use The Convenience of Our ATMs to Bank on Your Time....Unless You Are Black. If So, Then Please Do So By 6pm!"
Bank of America turns off ATMs at 6pm in black neighborhoods for what they describe as "safety reasons" https://www.kmov.com/news/bank-of-america-shutting-down-some-atms-early-in-north/article_d815659a-30d2-11ea-8f41-4be1dd20b3aa.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter This has been the topic I was the most nervous talking about. But a news story from St Louis TV Station KMOV made me decide it needs to be discussed. This has a section in my upcoming book Here's the thing: Bank of America managers are tasked to thin out the line in the branches, and are even incentivized in their bonuses by it. They call it "digital migration". When you tell a client to go to the ATM, the expectation is they can do it anytime. Tell that to the folks on 29th and Crenshaw in Los Angeles Tell that to the folks in North City in St. Louis Their ATMs close at 6, leaving one of two options:  To use a non-BofA atm for a fee (plus a $2.50 fee that BofA charges) Or: Go to the nearest open ATMs sometimes up to half an hour away...In a white neighborhood, which African-Americans can tell you for obvious reasons, they will not want to go These are Facts that a Bank tells people, FORCES people to not bank inside a lobby and gives them one less option to do so past dark. It reeks of suffocating people from their money to get them to leave.  It will happen in all places that BofA no longer wants to be. I will also talk about how Crooks will realize they can't rob people at those ATMs and will just read on the screen where TO go to rob someone. Safety can't be a concern unless you CLOSE THEM ALL EVERYWHERE!  I discuss how they closure of the ATMs is setting a false narrative when St Louis police mention only 1 incident has happened city-wide in the last year. I include portions of a news report from KMOV in the second half of the pod breaking down what is being said by Bank of America and what is said by those interviewed for the story, including commentary on visuals I saw in the piece.  patreon.com/notoriousbanker - Donate to the pod - Help Me Fight Back!!!! james@notoriousbanker.com - email if you have more info on more locations 575-322-4127 - VM Line. @bankbetterguy on Twitter - DM ME

Wells Fargo Execs FINALLY Facing Charges? (Yay!) + Adventures in Business Travel: Follies From My BofA Dallas Trip in 2012
Wells Fargo execs may be facing charges in the next several weeks. The fake account scandal is being discussed and people might be led away in handcuffs. I am excited! I discuss what it means to even just have a perp walk for these guys, and how I was told how brutal the sales goals were at Wells by old colleagues. I discuss this in detail. Link to article below https://www.americanbanker.com/news/former-wells-fargo-execs-may-face-criminal-charges-in-coming-weeks PLUS I talk about the 8th anniversary of the most interesting week of my BofA career: The week I went to Dallas, TX to train to be a fierce personal banker. I discuss all the non-work stuff like how Bank of America decided that paying 700% more for a plane ticket was ok, despite me finding an amazing deal, and I discuss the food.. Oh, my.. the food. From bland late-night room service, to having to cross the interstate to get dinner, to being forced to go to walmart for bologna sandwiches, it was unique to say the least. I talk about why I had more than a half dozen "loaded mashed potatoes" one night, to nearly getting written up and having a stern talking to, because I decided to spend fifty cents more on a better milkshake. I Don't Like to Bank That Way, but $15 is $15: Bank Bribes Customers to Go Online + Year in Review & The Year Ahead in Bad Banking
Bank of America has a promotion the next couple of weeks where it will gift you $15 for using Zelle, Mobile Check Deposit and Online Bill Pay. Sounds good, right?  Well, yes and no. Bribing you with money in order to get you out of their line is one thing, but in this podcast, I will discuss how they are using it to inflate their online banking numbers to prove they are a "digital bank" in order to lessen more teller roles and close branches. Consider this a push to get old people online to slowly phase out service to them and others where it's needed. Bank of America Wants You to Know That They are Diverse and are Spending Millions to Prove It!
Such a unique story. I talk about a subject that can be uncomfy to talk about: Diversity and Banking.   I never accused BofA of not hiring a diverse group. Hell, an Indonesian Woman and a woman from Mexico were my first bosses.  I was always so proud of having a unique support structure with my company. Fifteen years later, Bank of America is spending millions on an ad campaign airing during football to tell you that they hire people from all races, as if we didn't know that already.  I talk about these twitter posts and commericals and the millions of dollars of spending Bank of America is doing to show you that it really likes other people not like them.  Cringe-worthy.  https://twitter.com/BankBetterGuy/status/1204810973808218112?s=20  https://twitter.com/BankBetterGuy/status/1206661283870756864?s=20  MY PATREON Page! Questionable Write-Ups: Two "Fun" Stories of Getting in Trouble for Stuff Beyond Your Control -- A Personal Story
How many write-ups did I have with Bank of America in 13 years? Probably 2 dozen. Although it sounds like I was a problem child, write-ups are done so often at Bank of America to hold down organic advancement based on performance, limit or eliminate quarterly or yearly incentives along with merit wage increases, and just to plain freaking show you who's the boss! Today's podcast is about an email I got from Mary Webb who asked me about disciplinary action at Bank of America. I answer honestly. I talk about the two write-ups in my time there which were the most ridiculous. I discuss a fun story where I got a write-up for someone in Dallas, TX 11 hours away losing something that once touched my hands. I also discuss a ridiculous incident where an insurance scammer faked an injury in my office, sued the bank, and I spent the better part of the day talking with an insurance investigator, missing a mandatory meeting that my manager wouldn't vouch for an excused absence for me. Haha. Fun Stuff. My advancement to success was stunted before I was 30, and by the time I was 35, I was number one in my market, and fired for no reason and without any write-ups current at the time of termination. Go Figure. MY PATREON Page! John Stamos has the #PowerTo Sell Out: Banks Paying Celebs & Influencers for #ad posts on Twitter and It's Helping...ME!!!
I am well aware that Bank of America and Wells Fargo knows about my project. How could they not? I have noticed a lot of weird things that Bank of America has done. They Started 4 Podcasts (I have 2) They sometimes proactively refund people before I fight for them They are trying to post local interest stuff nationwide on their social. But the last couple of weeks, they started this ad push on Twitter. Using influencers who do art, photography, mommy blogs, financial blogs, entrepreneurs, Youtubers, and other things, they are pushing #ad posts to Bank of America potential clients. Using the same robotic scripting, they aren't engaging people and with the help of some commenting by me, it's actually driving my twitter impressions by a lot. Thank you Bank of America for making me famous with your overspending!!! I break down some of the hilarious sponsored posts and posters.. BUT BREAKING NEWS: As I finished this pod, John Stamos, Actor mostly known for "Full House" was hired by Bank of America to do an online banking commercial for Bank of America with Josh Peck of "Drake and Josh" fame.. Bizarre and they have a combined 4 million followers. Time to make me more famous HAHAHA. How I Rescued Thousands from Bank of America for Sarah: A Story of a BROKEN Fraud Claims System & Vigilante Customer Service
I stumbled on a tweet from a person named Sarah in California on Black Friday. She was railing against the fraud department that told her their investigation of fraud and identity theft which happened across the country would take 60 business days! That's 3 months!  Someone went into Bank of America Branches in NYC claiming to be her, and cashing checks totaling thousands without an account number, debit card or a teller viewing an ID. I reached out to Sarah, who seemed hesitant to believe I can help. She finally took a chance and talked to me after being stonewalled by Bank of America. Armed with only the information that BofA supplied her, most of which was blocked out by Sarah for security reasons, I took a look at what happened and in one hour, I saw what the crooks did, and what Bank of America DIDN'T do for their customer. Being an employee in NM, you are cross-trained on everything, because there are no people helping at times, so I taught myself how to pinpoint fraud and honestly when Bank of America is lying and screws customers with these fraud claims. I have 179 people who I've helped since the year started with similar stuff. Bank of America - I paid attention to my training, and will use it to prove you burn your own clients! I promised Sarah I would get her money back in one week... How about one day!?!? HAHAHA VIGILANTE CUSTOMER SERVICE GOT HER MONEY LIBERATED, AND SHE GOT AN APOLOGY from Bank of America for what happened. I did what 100 fraud claims analysts couldn't and wouldn't do.. Help Sarah. I am simply the best banker, and BofA, you will regret letting me go. It will continue like this. THIS IS SARAH'S STORY. LISTEN TO HOW IT UNFOLDED!!!! https://youtu.be/32ScTb6_KHg Though it's spelled differently, I've been hearing this damn song in the back of my head since I started my job helping Sarah VIGILANTE CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS HELPED CLIENTS OF BIG BANKS RECOVER $360,000 THIS YEAR WITH MORE TO COME!!!! Wells Fargo and their Opportunity (Checking) to Fleece At-Risk Clients. Congress is watching!
Phenomenal Article in the Washington Post about Wells Fargo receiving scrutiny for the accounts yet again. In today's podcast, I discuss how I learned about the "Opportunity Checking" account as an employee of Bank of America, and how my homeless client told me about it. Learn how I actually opened the account for her, walking her through the application online. Learn how I understand how those at-risk will get hit with fees simply based on their preferences and spending habits. And finally, learn why I think a simple refund is more than a little complicated for Wells. Learn why I think they should refund every penny they ever charged. How I Oversold You #1 (Role Play) - Single Mom Waitress - How She Walks Out with 4 Accounts She Didn't Need
Note:  This is not a real person. This is not real information for someone. This is a role play of a scenario that I would see as a banker at Bank of America. Tina Jones DOB 11-10-1986 1100 N. Main St Apt 1 Denver CO 80014 (303)555-5555 TJONES420QUEEN@icloud.com (fake email) Walks in 1 kid - Kalie (3-4yo) Job: Waitress at iHop - No Direct Deposit available/paper check every week/worked there 2 years Lots of cash tips - barely making ends meet/Minimum Wage for Waitress - $2.13/hr for tipped employees Screwed up credit in college with a credit card we sold her over 10 years ago. Wants to buy a house Wants to save for Kalie's college tuition early on. See how I use my bank skills, use the account opening my system, and a little empathy to get 4 accounts out of this lady. Learn how even though I was told that she doesn't have direct deposit, I give her the form anyway with "advice" on how to get money faster during tax time, which will benefit my bonus as well. Learn how we make a deposit into one account, yet move money all over to the other accounts to activate them for sales credit for me, and tell her to move it back, knowing it may never have money again. Learn how I hatch a plan to use her 3-4 yo girl to be added to all her accounts to avoid the monthly fee, and to earmark 2 of those as "Kalie's college fund" which will give her no value at all. Host Note: I was emotional and physically ill after recording this podcast. This took me to a place of sales pushing and "finding value" in even the most problematic of customers, and recommending 4 products when recommending a bank better suited for her needs is better. I will be doing more of these over time, different scenarios in order to help you realize everything about your interaction at a big bank is an upsell for more products. Bank of America "Business Decisions" a former CFO of Paypal, Twitter Storm Hits Category 5
https://twitter.com/roelofbotha/status/1196234200665346048?s=20 Roelof Botha, A venture capitalist, a former CFO of Paypal, and all-around majorly successful businessman, the type Bank of America should want announces on Twitter that Bank of America "fired" him as a client. Why? Who knows? The fact that Bank of America did this to one of the best and brightest caused millions of impressions of this tweet and thousands of rt's and comments.  I tweeted some reasons that BofA normally "business decisions" people, and @BankBetterGuy got over 130,000 tweet impressions, nearly 100 followers and a lot of discussion in the last 24 hours. Simply amazing This conversation has led to a bigger discussion as to why Bank of America does this to people less successful than myself or Roelof Botha. Thankfully starting a debate. Bank of America Raises Minimum Wage to $20/hr, Opens Up 4 Employee-less Branches in Houston. Really.
Bank of America, just one week after the massive outage to its system decided to create a diversion, and do two things: Give everyone a $1000 bonus, and raise their minimum wage to $20 a full year earlier than anticipated...2020. 20 in 2020, symmetry Barbara Walters can appreciate. But a Houston Chronicle article from Andrea Leinfelder discusses how Houston will be blessed with 8 new branches in their area....with half of them being unstaffed!!!! Yes, Raising the minimum wage and getting rid of the job that would benefit the most all at the same time. That sounds like the most Bank of America thing to do...and THEY FREAKING DID IT!!!

BofA: 1 in 6 Millennials has $100k Saved, and 5 in 6 Millennials Spend Too Much on White Claw
Bank of America commissioned a survey a couple years back that has to deal with millennials and banking. It was published Feb. 2018 and CNBC did a report on it. For reasons unknown, it went viral on Twitter last week, leading to one of Why Your Bank Sucks Biggest biggest weeks ever. A couple hundred thousand twitter impressions later, we debunked the supposed "scientific" survey. Learn how I worked as a banker in a college town where I never met one wealthy student. Learn how 300 millennials were surveyed, but it took Bank of America 3,525 times to get enough millennials to consider it a decent sample size. Learn how Bank of America polled millennials in major cities with a lot of high paying jobs to get the info they wanted out of the survey, and learn how all of this was just supposed to be a sales driver for bankers, and a "reality check" for millennials. Bank of America twists the numbers to make them look like the caring older brother in another episode of "Why Your Bank Sucks" https://www.cnbc.com/2018/02/05/1-in-6-millennials-have-100000-heres-how-much-you-should-have-saved.html?__source=twitter%7Cmain CNBC ARTICLE https://bettermoneyhabits.bankofamerica.com/content/dam/bmh/pdf/ar6vnln9-boa-bmh-millennial-report-winter-2018-final2.pdf Propaganda Bank of America "Better Money Habits" Survey Data on Milliennials MY PATREON Page! Why Your Bank Sucks Rescues $21,000 from BofA for a follower + When Bank of America Divested from Small Town New Mexico
I'm back after Vegas and illness.  Back to take on big banks BS. First, I talk about how our Vigilante Customer Service rescued $21,000 from Bank of America for a follower named Royce. Royce was a small business owner who had a great business going, until BofA saw him as competition and froze his account with his money in it, leaving it frozen for 3 months. We fought hard to get it back. I explain how! Plus Bank of left a lot of cities in NM on November 1, 2013. I worked at one of the branches in Socorro, NM that got sold to Washington Federal because Bank of America claimed to be "successful in teaching residents about the benefits of digital banking. Learn how Bank of America spun the sale, and sold a bunch of banks to a smaller bank with lesser quality. When Bank of America says "We Made a Business Decision" - 5 Words that Leads to Unbanking of Thousan
On vacation in Vegas so I bring you Part 1 of my 2 Part Special Podcasts: Bank of America will mysteriously close out accounts of clients it no longer wants, and when asked why, Bank of America will say the dreaded 5 word phrase, "We made a business decision". Learn how a certain homeless shelter in my hometown showed me how Bank of America unethically targets the people they no longer want to bank with them. Also learn how incentive payouts are influenced by home bankers help (or don't help) people stuck in this position. It's certainly frustrating as heck, and I saw it with my own two eyes. We must stop the unbanking of millions of people. Why Your Bank Sucks is here to fight the battle! MY PATREON Page! Wells Fargo Breaks Ground: Hires Old Man Bank Exec to be their CEO! (Sigh) + Bank of America Floods Your Earhole w/ Radio and Podcasts!
Wells Fargo names Charles Scharf as their CEO. After months of debating whether they would think outside the box in hiring the next head honcho, which included token female applicant Cathy Bessant of Bank of America, Wells went with a man who was an "outsider" despite the fact he freaking ran VISA AND BANK OF NEW YORK. He must be like a TV rerun, if you haven't seen him, he's new to you. Plus I will talk about the weird media blitz of Bank of America on pop radio stations all across the country and their HILARIOUS podcast network. I WAS HACKED: Why Your Bank Sucks Has $250 Stolen Using Paypal!!! (How Paypal Impressed Me and How Twitch Disgusted Me!!!)
Your Host James had his Paypal account hacked and over 200 Euros (yes, Euros) were stolen from him in a brazen attack. The money was taken to pay someone off on Twitch, the millennial version of crack this morning.  Learn why my OCD Checking my email every twenty minutes paid off in spotting it! Learn how Paypal surprised me with their fraud process compared to BofA (51 DAYS LESS OF A TIMEFRAME! HOLY CRAP!) Why @TwitchSupport is no better than Zelle when it comes to accountability when crime is being committed on their end. Learn how Paypal amazed me by getting stuff done in 9 short hours! I was impressed. Thanks for helping me Paypal. You don't suck (at the moment!) Plus, I will go into a deep dive of all my future projects as we come upon the final month of my unemployment savings. We Rescued Another $2500 from Zelle!!! + BofA Under Fire For "Phony" Unauthorized Accounts! Watch Me Defend Them (What?!?)
Why Your Bank Sucks and Our Vigilante Customer Service has "Rescued" over $130k since April 1!!!! We discuss how I rescued $2500 from Zelle for a customer in just one evening. Customer never heard of Zelle....Account hacked, and Bank of America didn't give them credit for the fraud claim. Bank of America asked this person for a "virus report" on their computer, which ended up being a 51 FREAKING PAGE FAX!!! With a little firm talk online, Why Your Bank Sucks helped recover that money. Hear the whole story! Plus I discuss a news story that hit the financial world. Bank of America is under investigation from the CFPB for "Phony Accounts"... Learn why I hate the phrase, and that it was "Unauthorized Accounts" Also, I discuss the time frame, 2014, which it allegedly happen, and yes, I even defend Bank of America on how they would have handled that in 2014, although the fact they are fighting releasing info on their processes, and lawyering up makes them seem more guilty than they are. Learn about my suspicions on who oversold and created unauthorized accounts... Guess? No, not me. I almost got fired for poor sales in 2014! So much fun today. Please listen in!!!!! MY PATREON Page! BBQ & Corporate Downsizing: My Meeting with a Bank Exec + Bank of America Hates Your Grandma and Her Jitterbug Phone: Text Banking is Gone!
We celebrate 1300 Followers with a funny story. The home opener for college football in my town gave me a flashback with a Bank of America Exec who I met at an Awards Banquet that was being held for us that they conveniently scheduled during my work hours. He used a story about him learning how to BBQ correctly which led me to a one-on-one interaction that I thought would lead to at least a connection with a higher up. A second meeting with same exec happened a few months later, and his fake smile told me something was up. Learn how his BBQ Wisdom couldn't save my branch and how that same smile told me that all my hard work meant nothing to Bank of America.  Plus, BofA decided to take away a thing that is used by old people who are trying to use technology, but are not all in with online and mobile banking. Bank of America ends Text banking, where you can text "bal" and "hist" and learn a lot about your account without putting you at risk for a compromise.  Learn why it's one part sales ploy and one part finding a way to further alienate the most at-risk group at Bank of America, the elderly. Prescilla, Queen of the Fraud Claim - Why Your Bank Sucks Rescues $1,000 from Bank of America for a New Mexico Customer!
Fun podcast today, as I discuss the Liberation...the "Rescuing" of money that Bank of America nearly stole from Prescilla, a person from my neck of the woods in central NM. With her card duplicated, crooks used her card to steal nearly $1,000 in goods from Smith's Grocery Store in Albuquerque, NM while she was nearly an hour away, card in hand. Our mutual friend Dorella connected us on Social Media, and James for Why Your Bank Sucks was on a mission to get her money back. Learn how text alerts for fraud don't really work, as several transactions still went through. Learn how customers trust too much in how banks handle fraud these days. You will also hear a tangent I have about listening to friends about your bad bank experience, and how it can impact how you deal with it. You will learn some insight as to how I  use all the data given to me to help my clients escalate to the very top of BANK OF AMERICA. Plus you will learn about how execs see fraud transactions more logically than the actual fraud department. PLUS.. I TALK ABOUT THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW... IN-N-OUT BURGER and a lot more. (What?!?) It is a fun 40 min story about how I helped someone I kinda know with a bank problem I know far too much about. It was truly a blast. Bank of America Freezes Accounts of Customers with 5 Simple Words: Do You Hold Dual Citizenship? + Farewell, Virtual Credit Cards... On To Something Less Safe!
Why Your Bank Sucks went viral this week. Quarter of a million tweet impressions in 48 hours, because of a retweet by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus about a Sacramento Bee story which detailed customers getting accounts frozen for not answering a contoversial question. The question is: Do you hold dual citizenship? Twitter was up in arms, thinking it's a debate on immigrants. It's not. It's the bank's war on the poor people, at-risk people, clients that provide no value to Bank of America. Learn how that question actually gets international customers and born and bred American customers to leave the bank for vastly different reasons. Hear me talk about that the warning to answer this question is sent in English to Spanish Speaking customers! I was there to see it. You will also find out it is a way of getting another at-risk group out of Bank of America, the elderly. Learn how system changes in the bank wipe out data and lead to older folks with decades long relationships to be alienated by the bank by them asking a question they should know the answer to, which is...Who are you? Just because Democratic Hispanic Congressional Members tweeted about it doesn't mean it's just in their interest. Why Your Bank Sucks is here to explain how it will impact you, as it is STILL going on!!!! Shopsafe is a virtual Credit Card system that allows you to generate one time use cc numbers to use online or for trial subscriptions. Learn Why Bank of America said it's gone. Bank of America Screws Topeka, KS 2 Times in One Week + Trespassing at Zelle and more in Phoenix!!!
Today's podcast is a US Tour for how Bank of America and Zelle screw over so many clients. First up, An amazing story out of the state capital of Kansas, Topeka. Bank of America announced in May that it was closing the 3 branches there effective August 27th. Bank of America's propaganda press release stated that one of the reasons they were closing was that people were doing so many more mobile deposits and deposits at the ATM.  So what if I told you the week that Bank of America closed it's doors in Topeka that under the cover of darkness, they removed the freaking deposit ATMs as well, leaving only one-trick-pony ATMs that only withdraw cash? Is Bank of America so cheap that it can't pay a couple extra bucks to have someone pull the deposits from the ATM one time a week and take them 24 miles away to Lawrence, KS? (Spoiler: Yes) Learn how this story was told to me by 4 people on Twitter as I headed on my vacation this weekend! News article about Topeka BofA's closing with PR Quotes from BofA included! https://www.cjonline.com/news/20190517/bank-of-america-to-close-all-topeka-branches Also, my vacation took me to go see a Heavy Metal show and to go swimming in a nice pool. But it also served dual meaning. I got to drive around the Phoenix Metro Area and see two things near and dear to my heart. I was one mile away from the home loans department that nearly made me homeless in 2016. They have an In-N-Out Burger by them. #JEALOUS!!! Hahaha Plus, I got to trespass on private property at Early Warning Services, LLC, Better known as ZELLE!!! I will tell you my impressions about an unimpressive looking building that literally controls the world's money by real-time payments. I took some really good pictures for my Zelle book, BTW! It was cool to see all the places I complain about in one day. Now let's fight to make them empty buildings! MY PATREON Page! Employee Training in Banking (Or the lack thereof...) How Poor Training Leads to Bad Experiences.
I learned all I needed to know about being a teller at Bank of America by reading a 20 year old binder of procedures and watching a tape that discussed Bank Robbery Protocol on a 19" TV/VCR Combo. Actually I learned nothing. In today's podcast, learn about my experiences training for my jobs at Bank of America and learn how I was thrown on the teller line, expecting to know everything after three days in a boiler room in December with old resources. Learn how through trial and a hell of a lot of error, I survived. You will also hear how Bank of America restricting internet at the branch made me smarter, because I "Goofed off" by reading their policy and procedure manual, all 10000 pages, up and down on my downtime. You will also hear about the best training I ever had at Bank of America in Dallas. Learn how Bank of America paid $1400 for an in-state flight, but couldn't get me a rental car to drive to my training, causing me to walk on a busy Dallas Highway in 2012. Learn about my experience with in-house classroom banker training, and how I feel it was the best thing I ever did at BofA, because it gave me superpowers of selling and confidence. Learn how that stopped with my class, and bankers, tellers, and managers from here on are now training in the same place they eat their cold lunches in a glorified chat room where a "Teacher" spends more time asking what your favorite colors are than actually helping. Finally, learn about how little Bank of America cares about their compliance training, never setting time away from your clients to do it, causing associates to literally click their mouse through the training as fast as they can to "finish" between customers, plus taking tests, failing them, and sharing answers and writing down answers to share with others in the name of time and availability. It's really ridiculous. You'll now understand why people in branch don't seem as sharp as THEY SHOULD. MY PATREON Page! I'm Applying to be the Next CEO of Wells Fargo - My Plan to Turn that Dump Around!
After reading an older article about how it's nearly impossible for Wells Fargo to hire a CEO because of the issues it faces, coupled with the thought that whoever they pick, it would not be a long-lasting tenure because of said struggles, I came up with a plan. I DECIDED I WANT TO APPLY FOR CEO AT WELLS FARGO!!! I never want to work in banking again, but maybe, just maybe I can mold the bank in the way that I think would be beneficial to company and clients.  In this fun (yet totally serious) podcast, I discuss my history of working in banks, my salary demands (really reasonable for CEO standards) and my outlook for the future of retail banking. Learn how I can make banking fun and worth the while of an average customer by instituting no-fee banking, while having an " Efficiency Credit" system that I ripped off from hotels not wanting to wash dirty towels (what?!?!?!), a Starbucks Card-Like rewards system that rewards you for making Wells money with your money-making and saving methods of payment they provide you. I talk about a dividend pool that will reward customers who help spread the good word, while freeing up lines in banks for people who want to continue to do old school banking.  I also talk about a bi-annual review of one's work ethic and entusiasm for a fast-paced job. No more phoning it in at James's version of Wells Fargo. Learn something about a real person with real ideas. https://www.housingwire.com/articles/49319-who-wants-to-be-ceo-of-wells-fargo-no-one-apparently MY PATREON Page! Breaking Down the Amazing Wells Fargo NY Times Article by Emily Flitter
@flitteronfraud on Twitter - Emily Flitter of the New York Times came out with an amazing Wells Fargo piece about supposed "Closed accounts" that were still getting fees charged to them, and it shook up Wells Fargo Twitter for a weekend. So much resentment came back, and for good reason.  I recommend you set up a free NYT Account, and please read this article and listen to this podcast.  Wells Fargo Closed Their Accounts, but the Fees Continued to Mount  https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/16/business/wells-fargo-overdraft-fees.html  I will break down segment by segment the things I agree with, some I didn't (which is weird that I found disagreement about how crappy WF is!) and I add personal experiences and opinions from dealing with issues like this at Bank of America as a banker. It's so interesting. Learn why having 13 accounts and a lot of money is considered a bad thing for big banks. Learn how zombie accounts generate $1000s in fees. You will also learn that WF has a garbage PR person like BofA (haha), and learn where the threat of un-banking you scares a lot of people who don't know about banking away from banking! And towards the end, you will hear me vehemently disagree about the final woman in the story's account of her final experience at Wells Fargo. Learn how there's no way a manager would give her $40k, much less in a paper bag and much less generating a CTR form for income reporting. Also I argue with myself over what the definition of brunch is (what?) An amazing article. My 8000+ listeners must read it and listen. How I Recovered $4000 from Bank of America for a Fraud Victim, While BofA Fraud Claims did NOTHING!!! (Brian's Song)
Why Your Bank Sucks has rescued $81,600 since April 1st from Bank of America and Wells Fargo. Unethical fees, extended holds and fraud claims are what we go after. Today's podcast was probably my proudest moment so far. I recovered $4000+ from Bank of America to help Brian from Chicago, a victim of fraud who was being screwed by BofA. Identity stolen, his name, ss number and account were used in another state to cash over $4000 in checks while he was hard at work in Chicago. Bank of America denied his claim, stating it was him making the transaction. Through the fortunate circumstance of Brian retrieving images of the checks from a banker, I was able to identify the fraud, spot oversights the teller and bankers made in the branch, and proved that he wasn't the perpetrator. After several days and peppering several execs, Brian got his money back, I made a friend for life, and I lose that much more trust in Bank of America. Learn in the podcast how the tellers didn't view ID, how claims dept didn't file a freaking claim (literally their only job) and how a company plays PREVENT Defense to keep you from getting your money. From impacting bonuses to victim blaming, BofA pulls no punches. Luckily James at Why Your Bank Sucks loves boxing and will KNOCK OUT THESE BANKS! Shout Out to Brian. Cash is King in a Small Town, Despite What Banks Say + Limit 1 Per Customer? A Bank Screwed US Voicemail
I have been off a week, thinking about the tragedies in my home area of El Paso and of course Dayton, OH But I come back with 2 great stories! Learn about how my anniversary trip to Ruidoso, NM (Pop. 7700) showed me that despite what banks say about the world going cashless and digital, cash is king in a small town. From casino slot machines to food trucks, and even campgrounds, paper currency is still ruling the day. Listen on how a trip to Walmart for snacks at 9pm gave me a window into the world of cash vs card. It surprised even me. Also, we have a voicemail that literally stopped me in tracks during my trip. Our caller alerts us to a Bank of America in California that is limiting clients to only one transaction per day in their lobby. Learn how it has nothing to do with short staff, and everything to do with fudging the numbers to earn bonuses. How does a bank use the same lingo as a free alternative newspaper? El Paso Strong- Understanding Charitable Donations, and Gofundme During a Difficult Time
Our minds are with the city of El Paso, TX after this weekend's tragic events. I know the town is resilient, and we will be thinking about them often. To begin, I discuss how I was feet from that Walmart last week, and I discuss another unfortunate mass murder I was within a mile of a few years back. This podcast mainly is more about citizens understanding how to effectively contribute. So many people will create fundraisers or "charities" in the wake of this shooting, and Why Your Bank Sucks wants to tell you what to look out for. GoFundMe's are as prevalent as memes on social media. I discuss what differtiates one from the thousands of others when doing your research I also talk about big banks having a lack of contribution accounts for their clients and need, and I share an uncomfy story from a few years ago about a client I unfortunately lost. Hard podcast, but talking about banking is important to me, and it's my honor to fiscally protect you! I also announce I will figure out how to get proceeds from my books and other projects to some worthy charities. Yours truly worked for 2 Branches in 13 years at Bank of America, and he's seen his bank leave his hometown three times! (Huh?) Bank of America announces the closure of the machines that were so popular and successful according to them in my hometown of Las Cruces, NM.  Learn how I predicted that my clients would be fed the lies of "alternative ways of banking" taking over. How about a discussion of an abandonment of thousands of customers in a college town where it is 80% Hispanic and 50% in poverty? I have it here...with a heavy heart and a loud mouth Plus... Iranian-Americans, Iranian Students, and Bank of America - How BofA Discriminates Against a Group of People + A Zelle VM
I worked in two college towns in my tenure at Bank of America, and one of my greatest joys was meeting all the new international students each semester. Students from all over the world would attend school in my hometowns and new friends were made. Iranian students were always regulars in my banks. Helping them as a teller all the way up to manager, I noticed Bank of America started treating this great clients, who had excellent deposit histories, and accounts with very few issues really harshly.   Account openings became epic, lasting over two hours, while I had to call a secret dept. within Bank of America to get "Approval" to open accounts for people with valid IDs. Random freezings and closings of their accounts, leading to times where money was not available and bills had to be paid.   How can a bank treat a group of people so bad? I worked there 13 years, and I don't even know. This podcast is a really serious one, spurred by a recent Twitter post of a letter from the NIAC (National Iranian American Council)  https://www.niacouncil.org/niac-letter-ofac-iranian-american-bank-account-closures/#ofacletter  I discuss my history in helping Iranian Americans and Iranian Students both as a teller and seller,  what I saw transpire with BofA, and how I felt as a banker who had no control over their treatment, and ultimately because of the documents I had to sign to get an account open, theoretically a person who can get fired for simply opening the account because all my fingerprints were one it.  Even someone who can't relate or who has a view about people emigrating from another country or coming to school from another country that I don't agree with should listen to this, because the question about citizenship and "DUAL" citizenship is being asked of every client, and if you are non-compliant in responding, you will be treated how these awesome Iranian Americans were treated. No matter your politics, you have to worry about this scary treatment from BofA. Reach out to NIAC if you have any people who had similar treatment. Plus, not to underscore, but we have a voicemail call about a Zelle horror story from Olivia. It's a long pod, but one full of information and frustration. Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan's Interview on CNBC: Too Dull For Cable TV
Brian Moynihan, the CEO/Scarecrow of Bank of America showed up on CNBC's Mad Money with Jim Cramer to discuss BofA's record qtr. What I got was a 10 1/2 min interview that I was able to do an hour podcast on. This is part 1 of 2 media interview podcasts I will do on Moynihan. Among Interview Topics: How Bank of America is a leading "Technology" company (What?!?) and how only 1/2 of their clients have adopted online banking. They are a regular Apple or Google. How he is proud that Bank of America's Technology is something to be proud of because they build building to keep the technology from... Being wet? How making money by "Retooling Branches" is code for "Getting rid of tellers and pushing people to mobile" and how he doesn't even know how many branches they've opened last year. How Brian Moynihan says that millennials are the bread and butter of the company, although he includes 41 year olds as millennials. How his spiel on millennials only would mean they are still the 5th or 6th biggest bank is foreshadowing what they think of older folks. How he mentions wages grew by 6% year over year for lower-end employees (Though I never made more than 3.8%) Average salary at BofA IS $150K?!?!?! How BofA's "Life Event Services" is a total joke. Where it literally almost got me killed in an ice storm, and also his companies supposed focus on mental health and stress is a very comical thing when they are the instigators of mental health issues and stress. How he mentioned that Domestic Violence is a focus at BofA, yet 1500 people who have been supposedly helped by BofA probably had their domestic situation worsened by Bank of America's striving for sales and pushing workers to the brink. Bank of America Made $7.3 Billion This Quarter, But Was Too Cheap to Buy a $2 Box of Rubber Bands For Us 5 Years Ago
Bank of America made $7.3 Billion, Wells Fargo made $6.2 Billion, and JP Morgan Chase made $9.7 Billion in the last three months. Cause to celebrate? Sure why not? It's America and they are doing the America thing: Making Money. On today's podcast, I decide not to talk the technical aspects of the earnings report, I just reminisce with a few stories about how goddamn cheap Bank of America was during my tenure over there, nearly putting 2 eyes out over a matter of $2. I discuss office supply cheapskated-ness along with depriving children of the one thing that silences them when going to the bank, all in the name of penny pinching. I try to make my horrible experiences there a little entertaining for you. Plus, we have an email from a fan in Minnesota who is wondering why his cards never seem to work in another country, despite telling the bank where he's going. I have an interesting theory on why this happens. Guess why? Money Money Money. Bank wants to keep more money. My theory will surprise you, and I discuss international fees in general. A podcast all about fake belt-tightening Bank of America who will in fact starve with its projected $30,000,000,000 in profit this year. Divorces, Single Parents, & Banking
Growing up poor and in a single parent household, I saw the financial struggles of how it's hard to make it in this world. In this podcast, I share my experiences growing up, and how single parenthood and divorce really impacted my mom's finances. This includes a home loan that my mother got from.. Countrywide Home Loans, which became a subsidiary of Bank of America a dozen years ago. Learn how sub-prime loans took my mom's dream and foreclosed on it, all while I was working for Bank of America. I also share what I applied to discussions with single parents and people divorcing/breaking up in my office as a banker for BofA. I discuss how I even took advantage of these "horrible life events" for the purposes of sales growth. I also share some interesting stories of what I saw personally between people that made me reevaluate how I banked as I got married. Controversial but necessary topic to have. P.S. Screw Countrywide for stealing my mom's home and wrecking her credit just to get an incentive.   MY PATREON Page!  For as little as $1, you can help James Baca in his fight against big banks. http://www.patreon.com/whyyourbanksucks Donate to Why Your Bank Sucks on Cash App $TheBankerDude   Sponsors - James@WhyYourBankSucks.com  - Advertise your business with a growing, cutting edge podcast. 575-322-4127 is our voicemail line to share your bad banking experience. 3 min limit.  Our website www.whyyourbanksucks.com for more info on our podcast, store, sponsorship info and much more! James & His Personal Debit Card Hell
I have have debit cards since they have been called "Check Cards". They were my first conduit to banking, and now all these years later, the bane of my existence. Though I love my debit card, it has brought so much undue stress over the years. I recently had to get my card replaced after 8 years of having the same number because of a BS charge (don't buy magazines), and it gave me flashbacks to 2011,  when Bank of America decided it would be cool to charge $5/month for your debit card which already makes them money. It was a horrible to time to work at BofA, and even worse that I became a supervisor on that same day.  https://www.reuters.com/article/us-bankofamerica-debit/bank-of-america-to-charge-debit-card-use-fee-idUSTRE78S4GQ20110929  (Announcing the fee September 29, 2011)  https://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/02/business/bank-of-america-drops-plan-for-debit-card-fee.html (Wimping out and backing away weeks later) Learn about the backlash, and how BofA finally backtracked a few weeks later, but the damage was done, and how bank branches going away just means even more fees can happen like this in the future without old James to complain to! Plus, I walk you through my experience in getting a digital debit card from BofA while BofA is mailing me the permanent one. Weird and full of disclosures (11 pages worth) This is what will replace the temp card in most locations! It's garbage. Read more about that here! Bank of America Takes A Stand Against Loaning to Private Prisons (Right After Loaning $90M) + Hungry, Hungry ATMs
Bank of America ticked off so many people on the conservative side when they were the last major bank to take a stand against Private Prisons that have been in the news lately with the immigration debate (No politics on this podcast) They promised not to loan any money.....one week after they loaned $90 million that will essentially make them $1.7 Million in interest a year.  James Baca will tell you how it's possible to piss off both sides of the debate with the same action. BofA did it! Plus, I go over an epidemic with ATMs accepting cash deposits without crediting clients. What's worse? BofA is declining these claims in droves. My vigilante customer service is working hard to figure out why this is. Learn about my theory in this podcast. A Notary Seal of (Dis)Approval - How Big Banks Blow Off Notary Service + Emails
Today's Podcast discusses something I practiced against my wishes at Bank of America, and which is going on at branches across the land. The denial of a simple free service, notary public service, because it "diminishes sales opportunity". Learn how I, along with the bank as a whole found reasons to blow off those in need of a simple stamp, citing "things wrong with the document" and refusing to do it for anyone who didn't have an appointment. It's the most f-ed up thing for people who are agents for their state Plus a couple of emails about Why the phone is never answered and what I think is the "Mount Rushmore" of crappy departments at BofA. Bank of America CEO Says He Wants "A Cashless Society" - He Must've Just Watched "Demolition Man"
Brian Moynihan was channeling his inner Dr. Cocteau last week when he announced at a conference that eventually he would like a "cashless society". What happened after those comments were made was simply astounding. Crypto advocates saw it as BofA coming to their side, and other news sources mentioned that cash is still king in a lot of places.  But did he really mean what he said? I think so, but not in the way you think. He wants us all to be Swedes... What? People think he meant crypto, but he really meant... your kids piggy bank? Machines that shake pieces of paper to eliminate people shaking paper deposits? Surge pricing for illicit purchases or late night purchases? Declining what BofA THINKS you don't need? He who has the controls of Cashless Society can make the decisions. Your money is at stake, you should listen to this somewhat humorous perspective from someone who used to get bonuses for making you cashless! Be well and don't violate the verbal morality statute! Bank Fail Pod #4: Chase Interrupts Millennials to Inform Them that Finn by Chase is Shutting Down! (No One Cares)
Less than a year ago, Chase decided to try to CON....(Cough)... convince millennials that they were cool by setting up a mobile app only bank account called Finn. Finn sounded like the kid with the drugs at a party. It was cool for a while. Access to a lot of ATM's. Emoji (WTF?!?) used to help manage your money. Sounds neat-o, cool kids.... Then they realized only 47,000 people signed up for it, a lot of them mainly for the $100 bonus they were offering. To put into perspective, BofA has about 65,000,000 clients. Wow. What a bomb. Today's podcast is about the failure of Finn, but more about why you shouldn't BS young kids who are fierce on social media about products and services and lose trust very easily. Learn how banks ignore the fact that young people CAN have a lot of money and a lot of reasons you should want them, even if they don't go to college.  Learn how Chase probably did themselves a favor by giving these young cats a free account (for now) and invite them into the branch to learn more about the Finn expats. I Hate Zelle, Part 1 (Anthony's Song)
Part of my Podcast and Twitter Project has a goal: To get Zelle eliminated as a service option at all banks. It's a scary, scammy way that banks concocted to have people transfer money person to person. Today's podcast will mainly discuss the lack of support that Banks have for fraudulent activity that happens to their clients using Zelle, citing their non-association (omg) to the third party application THATS EMBEDDED AND PROMINENTLY Advertised in their app and all their banks!!!! Our voicemail caller Anthony, shares his ordeal, and how Host James Baca found a way to rescue his money from Zelle Hell(e). Also, how do I equate Zelle to the rise of the adult movie industry? What? A Little Bit of Erica By My Side: Can You Celebrate When 1 in 10 Adopt Something?
Bank of America celebrates it's virtual assistant, "Erica's" one year anniversary by giving a bunch of stats to the general public. Although the stats show that it isn't a success at all Learn in this podcast that only 10% of the customers at BofA use the tool that will eventually replace customer service. You will also learn that a lot of people over 40 are not adopting it, which causes the long lines and poor service at understaffed branches. You will also hear how "insightful" Erica is about your money, and learn how 37 million people have mobile banking, yet 27 million use it. Those 10 million people... Hmm..Something unethical happened! Also learn that Erica has jokes but barely tells them, and that Erica doesn't give a damn, or at least shouldn't give a damn about your birthday. I waste a lot of breath talking about something that is a waste of phone space :) Links included are BofA's press release and PDF about how "awesome" Erica is...  https://newsroom.bankofamerica.com/system/files/Erica_by_the_Numbers_Infographic_%28May_2019%29.pdf    https://newsroom.bankofamerica.com/press-releases/consumer-banking/bank-americas-ericar-completes-more-50-million-client-requests  Our podcast today is brought to by our friends at KASASA! Death and Banking - Preparing For The End and Handling the Bank's Efforts to Have You Suffer More
Warning: This podcast has a lot to do with death and planning for death as it pertains to finances. Very sensitive subject. Today's podcast was brought on by some personal loss. I lost my Grandmother 3 days ago, and a Great Uncle a couple weeks ago. I discuss how an observation in my grandmother's house the final time I saw her brought on memories of how my former company, Bank of America handled deceased customers account. Learn how the phrase "Eew" is apropos for their Enterprise Estate Unit (EEU) which handles their deceased clients accounts. I share stories of customers I lost, and using those stories as examples for what you should do if you are preparing for end of life, or having a family member prepare for it. THERE ARE 2 VERY IMPORTANT SUGGESTIONS TO HEAR IN THIS PODCAST!!!! Learn how Bank of America held $29 for several months because my client chose to accidentally die in another state, and learn how Bank of America asked for a 40 year old death certificate from a person that was never technically their client. This was a tough podcast, but I think you should learn something. Our podcast today is brought to by our friends at KASASA! The Fresno Drop - How Bank of America Forced Credit Cards Down the Throat of a Small Town in 1958
Today we touch upon the interesting subject of being introduced to credit cards. I discuss how my grandma overspending in the last 1980s was my first introduction to credit cards, and how her use shaped my life going forward.  Then, I discuss the most interesting Bank of America story I read in a long time. Did you know that Bank of America invented the credit card? Did you know that Bank of America sent 60,000 credit cards with today's equivalent  of $4,000 on them to people who didn't want them, ask for them, or even knew they existed? Did you know they sent them to one small town in 1958 where people weren't as financially savvy as a big city would be? Did you know that although the initial project failed, it led to a world where we OWE BANKS NEARLY 1 TRILLION DOLLARS? Poor Fresno, CA. They didn't know what hit them. I discuss how the hell something so bizarre in forcing credit onto people led to the way you now bank! It's an interesting listen to say the least.  Works Cited:  https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/magazine/1994/11/04/the-day-the-credit-card-was-born/d42da27b-0437-4a67-b753-bf9b440ad6dc/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.8e14aad763cf    http://mentalfloss.com/article/63342/disastrous-story-first-credit-cards   https://www.mercurynews.com/2008/09/12/50-years-later-how-the-credit-card-has-changed-america/   https://99percentinvisible.org/episode/the-fresno-drop/  Our podcast today is brought to by our friends at KASASA! Mental Health & Banks Part 2 - What Drives Us Crazier...
Before we discuss Mental Health & Banks for a second time this Mental Health Awareness Month, Host James Baca talks about how he decided to start this podcast after his firing from BofA. James also is proud to announce the partnership with our friends @kasasa! Today's podcast hits deep, where we discuss moments of pure despair while working at Bank of America and how that severely impacted my view of working there, showed me the apathy of unscrupulous sales managers, and showed me that even when things are great, they will tell you that you don't pass the smell test (sigh). A very hard but necessary part 2 to this podcast I started a couple weeks ago.   National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Call 1-800-273-8255    Our podcast today is brought to by our friends at KASASA! The Bank Screwed US: 3 Customers Share Their Horrible Experiences + Win a Google Home Mini
Paul leads off our Bank Screwed US VM line with an interesting story of how he has one credit card, 2 different numbers and 2 different balances, and also how a BofA associate pleaded for a good review. Host James Baca will explain the credit card scenario that stumped him the most, and also explain why that associate was pleading, and shares a story where a bad survey that wasn't about him cost him several hundred dollars. Mason and Roland, two younger guys tell their tales of bank holds placed after the fact causing chaos, and overdrafting while at work with no help from BofA in sight. I also discuss how to win a Google Home Mini as well. Wells Fargo LITERALLY Names Your Savings Account After Their Sales Goals & More Fees Will Be Charged + Teen Accounts for Adults + Google Home Mini Contest
Wells Fargo as of next month will officially become META. They will rename your basic savings account the "Goal Savings" as in.. "We make our quarterly sales GOAL offering you a GOAL Savings Account." Although it's not the most obvious changes, a little rule called Reg D created so many years ago will actually be enforced more due to the newer "lenient" rules that Wells Fargo put on this account. A scheme Madoff would be proud of! https://imgur.com/X60cjMN (Thanks @acerunner_kj) https://imgur.com/bLYafvs  (Thanks @Internettab) Then, per a tweet by @erdiemert, we come to find out people in their 20s have been getting their fees waived by having a Wells Fargo "Teen Checking Account" opened earlier in the decade. Well, the bean counters of Wells caught on to the dirty little secret (It's really not that bad) of getting a free account and will now charge them $10 if they don't meet requirements. Listen to why this isn't about the 10 dollars or the Teen Checking Account, it's about something much more seedy. Plus, I am giving away a Google Home Mini!!! Listen to the secret word at the end of this podcast, and next week's podcast. How I Got Fired from Bank of America for Less Than a 20pc Chicken McNuggets from McDonalds + Sean on Voicemail
May 3rd was the 1 year anniversary of me meeting the client that ultimately got me fired last August. Bank of America makes $28.1 Billion Last Year in PURE PROFIT, and I get fired for $4.95. How? Why? Where? Huh? Today I discuss how being short-staffed and empowered to make decisions on the fly got me a conversation with a scary looking lady from BofA Investigations for the doing the most egregious thing, which was help a twenty-something waitress get an account that she asked for and wanted. I will discuss the details of the day, the subsequent stress of knowing that I was being targeted for termination, and my theory of how BofA overempowers certain employees with supervisory tools that they can retroactively go back and nail you on. Tried not to make it personal.. But you know... I got fired for a silly reason. Plus, Caller Sean makes it personal as he explains the $30 stop payment scam that BofA did to him, which I elaborate on, and how his divorce was prolonged by a decision made by  a back office hold on a deposit. Mental Health and Banks - What Drives Us Crazy (In Honor of Mental Health Awareness Month) + Vegas Road Trip BofA Closure
Serious Topic: May is National Mental Health Awareness month, and I have been excited to talk about the topic of mental health on this podcast. I will discuss my own battles with depression, stress, binge drinking, and other issues that stemmed from my time at Bank of America (More of the serious stories will appear in my book) I will tell you how banks make employees feel like you are obliged to accept their abuse of power and incessant nitpicking. Plus I will also discuss the impact on customers, where working in the branch became a petri dish of crazy human emotion that was spurred by the policies and decisions that banks made to their clients. You will also hear me discuss how I witnessed threats of domestic violence while sitting in my office helping that was brought on by the unhelpful attitudes of Bank of America, and most certainly copied every other bank. (Some Adult Language in that discussion) Really Hard Podcast to do, but it needs to be done. Plus I announce how I am going to give back to charity for every part of my project. Plus one fun, if not sad, topic. Bank of America used to have a bunch of locations on the way to Vegas in Arizona. Learn about two more closures happening soon that impact how people just outside of Phoenix and Vegas will bank. It's snake eyes for BofA in Bullhead City, AZ. The Bank Screwed US Voicemail Line + Bank Fail Pod #3: Bank of America's eBanking Account - Kicking You Out of The Branch Since 2010
THE DEBUT OF OUR Bank Screwed US Voicemail Line where we have 3 callers share their experiences with Bank of America, and I provide insight into what's happening, and how I fixed it or at least helped out. LEAVE A VOICEMAIL WITH YOUR BANK OF AMERICA ISSUE AT 575-322-4127 Instructions on the line. Please call!!! (Note, some of my audio quality was not the best. Working on how I push out these voicemails in crystal clear quality) Plus, @jenkonocase, my first caller is an aspiring musician. Follow him on Twitter at that handle, and Listen to his music on Souncloud. Link Below.  https://soundcloud.com/jenkonoscale/feeling-the-buzz-prod-by-dvtchie-x-nonbruh  Plus, I talk about another Bank Fail Product: eBanking. Bank of America introduced this product as a free account as long as you didn't bug them inside the branch. You can go to the ATM and do your business and get electronic statements. If you bothered them, they would charge you $8.95 to do your banking inside. Learn why I believe this planted the seed for future non-teller banking, and helped eliminate a lot of "problem" customers in the eyes of the bank. Those who stuck around years later then found out, that not bugging the bank actually was charging them, and even more than the original eBanking account itself Link to old article about eBanking:  https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20100809006034/en/Bank-America-Introduces-New-eBanking-Checking-Account  eBanking ending:  https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/banking/article195981344.html    ONE PENNY IS DONATED TO CHARITY FOR EVERY PODCAST PLAY!!! Bank of America Raises Minimum Wage to $20
Bank of America announces that it will pay a $20 minimum wage. Sounds good right? Even I can't think that's bad...Right? Haha Yes, I can. Not for reasons why you think. PRESS RELEASE  https://newsroom.bankofamerica.com/press-releases/corporate-and-financial-news/bank-america-raise-minimum-wage-20-hour  In this podcast, I will explain why the entry level positions deserve so much more. How I went from a bank with 12 employees to 4 while my pay doubled, and how it'll likely be 2-3 when the raise takes effect. I also mention about a previous program BofA had a decade ago to share profits with employees that went away when they started making serious dough. I also mention, be ready for a $50 overdraft fee, no sales bonus for bankers, and higher goals for bankers. Towards the end of the podcast, I will explain where I was when I heard the news, and why I couldn't just run out and do this pod. Hint, it involves blood. Modernizing The Bank: We Are Replacing Tellers with.... Couches and Wi-FI???
So the solution to making the bank modern is to not have your butt hurt on a lumpy couch or chair apparently. Bank of America's Press Release on April 5th about the drive to modernize 2500 branches made me laugh and cringe, as you should as well. In today's podcast we talk about how they twist words in the press release, essentially telling you that wi-fi and comfy couches will silence your complaining while waiting for limited staff in the "new bank model" Learn how, despite surveys saying demand for in-person banking fell in the last two years, Bank of America is "growing" by 500 branches, despite the fact they have closed as many, if not more, in the last few years. Learn how when they max out a market and/or train clients to not go in, they move on. Also, discover how the new banks are a godsend to BofA as they get a clean slate to train their clients not to be reliant on teller transactions. I analogize it to potty training.. SEE HOW! Finally, a second insane statement about helping Low to Middle Income folks. Learn how it almost reads like a free health clinic in it's description, cites accessibility to bankers as "moving forward with technology" and how tailored "financial solutions" is basically you and a kiosk, with the promise of "seminars" that just sound like timeshare pitches to poor people. YIKES! Bank of America Commits $5 Billion to "Help" Low and Middle Income Home Buyers aka Countrywide Part 2, Electric Boogaloo
So... Bank of America decided to give away $5 Billion of its own money today to the same people it doesn't want in its bank anymore so they can buy a house? Sounds legit. Bank of America, the same company who bought you Countrywide, which was the worst thing to ever happen to home loans is back for a sequel...AND THIS TIME IT'S PERSONAL! Learn how D. DILLY DILLY, THEYRE GRRRRREAT!  https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/02/bofa-says-it-will-make-5-billion-in-mortgages-to-under-served-people.html  https://newsroom.bankofamerica.com/press-releases/consumer-banking/bank-america-launches-5-billion-affordable-homeownership-initiative Learn how a $10,000 grant is only made possible by an insane interest rate that will give them multiples of that initial investment Learn how the phrase "UP TO" is important, as the number advertised is not accurate. Learn how they will encourage minimal down payment to make the properties more valuable in the event the sell mortgages to other companies. Also, why are they reinvesting into communities and people that they have been abandoning???? How do I compare this to Kohl's Buy one Get one Free sales? Find out in the podcast! How Bank of America Treats Older People
Don't you immediately think of older folks when you walk into a bank?I do. As a former banker, older clients were about half the people I saw in a given day. I loved talking to them and dealing with them. I wish the same could be said about Bank of America In this podcast, I will discuss Bank of America's treatment of older clients. There are so many reasons, so this may be part 1. Topics Include How Bank of America gouges older clients for the one thing they use: Checks and all the services that come with check writing How Bank of America's closure of a lot of Drive Up Windows, and lack of staff in the lobby is actually detrimental to the health of a lot of older clients. How Bank of America sees lending to older folks How Bank of America's updated ID Policy has ended a lot of relationships with older clients.  I will also discuss why I believe the last bullet point was malicious by Bank of America to rid itself of high maintenance older clients that  "provide no value" to Bank of America.      It is a topic that a grandma's boy like myself pulls no punches with, as you will hear my anger on this subject matter.  Our website www.whyyourbanksucks.com for more info on our podcast, store, sponsorship info and much more! Keep The Change - An Effective Way to Make Money...For Bank of America! - Bank Fail Pod #2
So.... You have a savings account with about $2 in it? It's because Bank of America probably sold you one you didn't need. Learn how that $2 account can cost you hundreds even though you are "saving with every swipe of your card"! My second installment of my Bank Fail Podcasts on Why Your Bank Sucks looks at BofA's Keep The Change Program Learn how I got introduced to it along with everyone 15 years ago, and how it was a pretty effective tool...that is until the advent of digital banking! In this podcast you will hear how a now-retired savings account was always set up for someone with a checking account for KTC Purposes. You will hear how that account converted to a less-than-favorable type of account that charged client and changed again last year, costing a client nearly $100 for a "free" account they previously signed up for Also, learn how digital banking has caused the savings account to be a big moneymaker for Bank of America by exploiting Reg D, which is an outdated Regulation that Banks exploit today. Plus I will tell you how my bosses pushed me to offer a savings account as part of a "package" and I will explore my use of the program when I was dirt poor. PLUS... YOU WILL HEAR HOW I EXPLOITED A PROMOTION FOR KEEP THE CHANGE TO SEND ME TO VEGAS FREE! I use the word Exploited a lot, so this program must be bad!!!!!! Wells Fargo Scandal - Relating it to my experience at Bank of America
Wells Fargo's scandal in 2016 rocked the banking world. Well..Everywhere except Bank of America where we would do that type of stuff all the time under the radar of Wells Fargo's issues SALES PRESSURE, THE GOAL TO SELL EIGHT PRODUCTS TO EVERYONE, AND THE EXPLOITATION OF HOMELESS AND OLD PEOPLE made the whole situation disgusting as all hell. James Baca, your host, will explain things that are similar at Bank of America, things that probably couldn't happen at BofA anymore, and how the internal pressure of working at a branch leads to a lot of unethical things being attempted by employees There will likely be a second episode of this topic soon!   Visit our Twitter Page @bankscrewedus and @banksuckspod, Our website www.whyyourbanksucks.com for more info on our podcast, and follow host James B on Twitter @jamesbisright. Bank of America Gives $100 Million Dollars Away To A Foundation, So Someone Else Can Decline A Loan
How can Bank of America possibly give $100 Million away, and yet I still find a crappy thing about that?  HAHA I DO. This host is 100 percent applauding the gesture and the great amount of money given to awesome female entrepreneurs. BUT.... Listen to a 13 year Banker explain why BofA gets out of doing ANY Small Business Loans, yet gives a ton of money away to a foundation so that foundation, with similar requirements will likely decline the loan as well Hear how Entrepreneur somehow means being in business for two years with no other synonyms. Listen as well to my experience trying to acquire loans for Bank of America to only get declined for 13 year straight, What everyone sees as a great gesture, I see as BofA talking out both sides of their mouths. Also.. Learn how Bank of America really only gave the equivalent of what the Average American pays for a steak dinner for a family of 4 to the org.   Sources: https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/on-small-business/bofa-pledges-50-million-more-to-tory-burchs-program-for-women/2019/03/07/7f48a1dc-4124-11e9-85ad-779ef05fd9d8_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.32638a515055 https://newsroom.bankofamerica.com/press-releases/community-development/bank-america-makes-100-million-capital-commitment-support https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/07/bank-of-america-tory-burch-to-offer-100-million-in-loans-to-women.html Visit our Twitter Page @bankscrewedus and @banksuckspod, Our website www.whyyourbanksucks.com for more info on our podcast, and follow host James B on Twitter @jamesbisright. Bank Fail Pod - Bank of America's Nuevo Futuro Checking Account (2004)
Ever want to see outright stereotyping of a race and culture? Look at these pics of Bank of America Branded Maracas (Musical Instrument) https://imgur.com/mQvdZXQ https://imgur.com/DUDMYrn Bank of America came out with a horribly offensive account for Hispanic Immigrants in 2004 called Nuevo Futuro Checking (New Future). Offensive in that in its promotional giveaways for the account, all of them were stereotypical. Even how you would target this account was stereotypical for a seller. Although Hispanics are a huge part of our American fabric, it seems that Bank of America was nearly trying everything just to get people in the door, and what they offered was a free way to send money to Mexico if you brought everything over to them. Worked so well that I could only find 3 pages online that even referenced this account, One of them on BofA's Page...all others have been scrubbed clean. http://investor.bankofamerica.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=71595&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=590750#fbid=qyZkf_aoi_J https://adage.com/article/hispanic-marketing/u-s-banks-chase-mega-billion-hispanic-money-transfer-business/39818/ https://juantornoe.blogs.com/hispanictrending/2004/09/banks_courting_.html Learn how I came across the magical maraca, and hear annoying rattles as I discuss a topic one part funny, and one part horribly offensive to some people. College Students (And How Banks Treat Them)
I got my job at Bank of America solely because I walked in to cash a financial aid check one day. I was treated with a little respect then. Now.... Students are finding themselves in a love-hate relationship with a bank that really doesn't want them On today's podcast, learn about the desire to be the "official bank" of a university and what it even means. Learn how banks fight for accounts for college students to fluff up their numbers, and how that also leads to overselling of credit cards without proper conversation about the responsibility on how to use it. Learn how financial aid checks are being held a ridiculous amount of time these days, and how that leads to irreperable damage between client and bank, and learn that this is why I truly miss working at a bank. I miss teaching people how to be responsible with their money. If you are a college kid, listen to this. If you have kids that are going to college, listen to this. GO GO GO FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT! Why Does It Take So Long For You Guys To Answer The Phone? - Crappy Call Center Service Explained
Ever call 1-800-432-1000 with BofA for service, and you literally could bake a wedding cake in that time you waited? You and me both. With a conversation that started on Twitter with Twitter User aurora_nightly, I discuss the horrible wait times and service that is going on with BofA's customer service on the phone. I explain how Preferred Customers get to "cut the line" when it comes to phone service. I explain how BofA is treating phone service the same way a high-end nightclub treats VIPs and Regular Folk. I will tell you why Bank of America doesn't have branches in Alabama and Montana, but their service is coming from there in a call center that is not owned by Bank of America. I will explain to you why only 20-30 people are handling the bulk of calls for the whole country, and how long wait times actually cause disciplinary action for its associates who have no help or support. And finally, I will tell you that estimated hold times only work when associates are given tools to help clients, and how the bank's call back feature doesn't work if everyone says, "Screw That, I'm Not Waiting". It's a podcast that will make you not want to use the phone again.  Visit our Twitter Page @bankscrewedus and @banksuckspod, Our website www.whyyourbanksucks.com for more info on our podcast, and follow host James B on Twitter @jamesbisright. Rich People Get Rebranded - Bye, Merrill Lynch and US Trust
Bank of America decided to take Merrill Lynch to the back of the barn and put it out of its misery... At least the name that is. In my latest podcast, I touch on the news that Bank of America is rebranding Merrill Lynch and US Trust and what that means to the average client. I will also explain that this is merely a better way for bankers to properly indentify wealthy people when they are in the wilds of branches. New names help sort out who is REEEEEALLLLY Important and who isn't worth your time. Learn about what I would and wouldn't do for $20 (Sounds dirty) and also my feelings on the "multiyear advertising campaign" that this triggered that will kill many many trees. I also compare Bank of America's product to Natural Light Beer and Whopper Jr's from Burger King. Bank of America Digital Mortgage Experience and How it Will Discriminate Against You
Want to buy a house, but hate that pesky talking to people thing? Bank of America has a deal for you. It's digital mortgage experience will allow you to apply for your mortgage, lock in your rates, and do all the hard work yourself. Buying a $300,000 house will be as convenient as going to a Walmart self-serve checkout kiosk...Only with higher stakes. Oh, and there's the whole, de-incentivizing the people trained to walk you through the process, which will lead to a bad experience. Forgot about that. Learn how the process will not only discriminate against the people who need the most help buying their first house, but essentially alienate them into not doing business with BofA again. Learn how it's not about quantity, it's about only helping the most valuable home loans possible with this new tool, and learn how your host was both a facilitator to their unethical ways as an employee, and nearly made homeless by Employee Banking's Home Loan "Specialist" and learn about my one and only experience with a Top 5 Bank Executive. Nearly an hour of craziness, but not nearly as crazy as BofA itself.  Visit our Twitter Page @bankscrewedus and @banksuckspod, Our website www.whyyourbanksucks.com for more info on our podcast, and follow host James B on Twitter @jamesbisright. Cash Deposits Not Accepted!
This is a newer problem at bigger banks. Banks, including Wells Fargo, BofA, and Chase no longer accept cash deposits from people who aren't on those accounts. So if Dad wants to put cash into son's account, dad is screwed! Find out why and learn that this new policy actually makes overdrafts more likely for some clients. Learn about how "for our customers protection" became a blanket reason for not letting cash go into those accounts. Learn how the "risk" of handling cash is too much for bank managers to entrust with their tellers, the cash handlers. Finally, learn how it's all a setup for a sales pitch for online banking and transfer services such as Zelle, which in reality is a third party company that a bank will use to absolve themselves of any responsibility should something go wrong. Learn why people leave the bank pissed, and then send money thru non-traiditional methods like Cash App, Venmo and other non-bank things, further endangering banks stronghold on younger clients. ...Oh, and learn how supervisors will get into trouble if they have a heart and accept a cash deposit for someone not on an account. It happens. WHY YOUR BANK SUCKS #3 Visit our Twitter Page @banksuckspod, Our website www.whyyourbanksucks.com for more info on our podcast, and follow host James B on Twitter @jamesbisright. Bank of America's ATM Cash Debacle
My very first episode of Why Your Bank Sucks is an interesting one. This past week, you may have seen a story on the news about a random Bank of America ATM in Houston mistakenly dispensing $100 bills, causing a commotion. A good laugh was had by all in the media and general public with the story. But with my years of insight on how ATMs are managed, I will give you the real story of what is probably going on behind the scenes when it comes to those responsible for the error with their job security, the reason for the unorthdox statement of Bank of America to allow the customers to keep the extra money they recieved it, and just the overall stress that leads to a major screw up like that with a lot of money.
