Season 3 : Episode 21 - Amanda Quick's Journey from Sex Trafficker's Wife to Empowered Energy Healer

Season 3 : Episode 21 - Amanda Quick's Journey from Sex Trafficker's Wife to Empowered Energy Healer

NSFW and NSFkids Alert - On this Episode Amanda Quick, a Quantum Energy Healer and author of  The Sex Trafficker's Wife  reveals the whole spectrum of the power of transformative spirituality.  Amanda vulnerably shares what it is like as a very young woman to have your  family and life BLOWN apart by her husband's criminal behavior.  She is transparent about her initial unwillingness to accept the horrific reality led her to make some mistakes, which she had to pay the price for.  And what was the turnaround?  A psychic's revelation that her inability to SEE the truth was a Karmic result from a past life entanglement with her husband. This realization sends her into the quagmire of challenging social worker's lawyers and the system to keep her children safe from the man who is their father.  It is a wild ride and even has a Hollywood Happily-Ever-After ending.  This is the perfect show to watch for anyone who is in an abusive relationship and needs inspiration to get out, who wants to understand how to protect kids from SA or help them if you suspect something.  Amanda's story reminds us that messy realities take a fierce dedication to resolve but can absolutely lead to a much better life, if one is willing to go through the fire of the discomfort zone.  From the shadows into the light, Amanda also shares her wise insights and the beautiful work she is now doing helping to her clients heal their trauma.

Season 3 : Episode 20 - Giving Voice to Adoptees with Lorah Gerald

Season 3 : Episode 20 - Giving Voice to Adoptees with Lorah Gerald

Challenging the typical adoptee narratives, The Adopted Chameleon community activist and trauma-informed yoga therapy instructor, Lorah Gerald shares her experiences healing from adoption trauma. Creative Wellness Coach, Leela Davis and Expressive Arts Coach, Kelsay Myers get personal, political, and spiritual with Lorah in this episode. We discuss the power of adoptee stories in correcting social myths around the idea of being “grateful.” We explore the need  to “fix” things or “figure it out” because adoptees are always searching for their identity, their biological family, or a therapist to connect to! We cover surrogacy, foster care, trauma responses, the higher risk of suicide for adoptees, somatic therapies, and “the science” behind the effect of early life separation from birth mothers in a system that buys and sells children, as well as alternatives to growing up in abusive homes in general. Lorah even shares a breathing exercise to help settle a highly activated system. We also cover the intuitive, the energetic, and various resources for adoptee healing that are out there, including Lorah’s own projects centered around giving voice to adoptee experiences. You won’t want to miss this timely conversation on the heels of the overturning of Roe v. Wade and Adoption Awareness Month!

SEASON 3 Begins with Episode 19 - Kelsay & Leela Dish on their Creative Healing Journeys using Writing, Astrology, Human Design, Mediumship & the Kitchen Sink

Welcome to our World of Woo and Wonderful Weirdness.  Kelsay Elizabeth Myers and I, from the first day we met, realized we were Sisters from another Mister AND Mistress!  We both have Michiganian family roots, both grew up feeling like outsiders for very different reasons.  In order to cope with the challenges of this we turned to creative expression - writing, acting, singing and dancing into our adulthood.  In our early 30's we realized we needed more to heal the unique traumas we experienced as children and early adulthood and deepened into spirituality.  Kelsay tells of how she was a reluctant medium since childhood until she started on her path to becoming a Reiki Master.  Leela explains how Astrology helped her map her healing journey since the age of 10.  And more recently they have found purpose and direction in their studies and application of Human Design to their lives.  They both happen to be Projectors.  This episode reveals how healing doesn't just have to be work but can be a delightful and enriching adventure.

Season 2 FINALE - Episode 18 - WTF is Love Addiction with David Greenleaf

Can you be " Addicted to Love"?  Sure you can - and according to Robert Palmer, it's great.  But is it though?  Edited down from 4 hours of  discussions spread over 2 days David Greenleaf, Trauma Recovery Specialist and Leela Davis, Creative Wellness coach discuss the pitfalls of what many 12 Step groups refer to as "Sex and Love Addiction."  We discuss our own harrowing tales of Love gone wrong, due to the misfortunes and misunderstandings about healthy relating we learned from our family dynamics.  We point out that "co-dependancy" is a prominent feature in how Western Cultures have trained us to form romantic relationships for both men and women.  We even cover the science of WHY addictions form in the area of romantic and sexual relationships.  And no show would be complete without us sharing a number of different strategies to identify dysfunction in our relationships and learn how to heal ourselves so we can form new healthy relationships.  As David says in the show -
Strap in for a wild ride!"  If the term "love addiction" seemed a curiosity to you before.  You will be able to give a TED talk on the topic by the end of the show, especially if you start digging into the extensive resources mentioned in the episode.

Season 2 : Episode 17 - Embodying Safety Using EFT with Alessandra Amico-Jones

Season 2 : Episode 17 - Embodying Safety Using EFT with Alessandra Amico-Jones

On this episode we are interviewing Alessandra Amico-Jones, a Certified Practitioner of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) also known as tapping, joining us on the Pod.  We also have a switch in co-hosts - Whaaaat?  David Greenleaf a life-coach specializing in thriving beyond trauma and in recovery is taking over for Jude Gorini for a few shows.  Jude Gorini's last show was #16.  He is going on to other creative projects and I will share the info on how to continue following him later in the show notes.

But BACK to Alessandra, she tells her personal stories and shares those of her clients of how tapping has dramatically shifted experiences of grief, anxiety, and depression.  EFT/Tapping is good not only for emotional pain, but also physical pain and changing mindset.  In fact toward the end of the show, Alessandra leads us through a short tapping routine for the inner critic.  We will be posting the whole inner critic tapping routine and Alessandra's instructions on our YouTube Channel soon!

EFT/Tapping is both powerful but also very gentle and simple to implement.  Simple enough to help children help themselves.  Alessandra has recently written a book - The Magic Within You - to assist children and their parents to learn about and practice tapping to address childhood challenges.  She is also making a special offer through the podcast - offering a free 15 minute tapping session if you DM her on Instagram and tell her you heard her interview on this podcast.

Season 2 - Episode 15: How to Love Cats Better so They Love us Better w/ Lauren Parsch

Season 2 - Episode 15: How to Love Cats Better so They Love us Better w/ Lauren Parsch

Jude is a cat-dude and I am a OUT-LOUD and PROUD Cat AND Dog Lady.  And in today's episode Jude and I pummel Lauren Parsch, a cat behaviorist with question after question.  If you love cats or want to love them better this show will be of great value to you.  Lauren first tells us about her challenges in getting to know the first and second cats in her life and how her mission to create peace in her home led to a full-on obsession about cat info.  She finally gave in to her obsession and made a career out of it, and is now certified in Cat behavior.  It IS a thing!

She gives some great tips on how to begin improving your one one one relationship with a cat, the key differences between cats and dogs, what key factor leads to behavior problems in cats, how to introduce new cats into the household, why they are great for our mental and general health and more.

I had a great experience working with Lauren regarding introducing my Pomeranian dog Pippin Puppacino to my cat BBG aka Blackberry Girl.  BBG is super territorial and hates other cats but with Lauren's advice I was able to introduce Pippin into the household without any drama.  They peacefully co-exist and now sleep on the same bed as me, when BBG is in the mood.  She is a cat after all!

Season 2 - Episode 14 : Healing Addictions as a Creative Family Project with Beth Syverson

Season 2 - Episode 14 : Healing Addictions as a Creative Family Project with Beth Syverson

What do you do when Addiction plays too big a role in your family?  Start a podcast of course!  Beth Syverson and her son Joey have used their SAFE HOME PODCAST as a powerful tool to explore and share healing, communication and information to help other families avoid the same pitfalls they have experienced.  Their podcast covers rarely discussed perspectives on addiction, adoption trauma, bullying, addiction relapse, over-the-counter addictions and so much more.  In today's show Beth discusses how her own struggle with sugar and workaholism and her own healing journey with Buddhism and therapy has given her the insight to maintain a compassionate and supportive connection with Joey.  She explains how the addictions have come about as a result of adoption trauma and racist bullying directed toward Joey as a Japanese-American and that these root traumas, until they are healed can cause dysregulation that needs soothing.  Since his middle-school years Joey has struggled with suicidal ideation, and attempted suicide multiple times.  The pain has been real and led abuse of over-the-counter drugs, psychadelics, marijuana, among other substances.  Beth points out that just because a child or adult has substance abuse issues, it doesn't make them bad - but it does point out that they are in pain.  And it is the pain that needs to be addressed not the character or morality of the person.  During the podcast we also discuss the reality that our  American culture rewards individuals for some addictions like workaholism, heavily punishes us for street drug abuse, and is neutral about sugar addiction.  And there is the ironic reality that many of the pharmaceuticals that are pushed upon people with mental health challenges are as toxic and addictive and sometimes more so than marijuana or some other illegal substances.  This is such an important show, because addiction touches all of us personally in ways we need to better understand!

To see how a family can maintain bonds through real life struggles, while also maintaining their own principles and prioritizing healthy and not co-dependent relationships, check out this show Episode 14 and then pop over and binge on Beth and Joey's SAFE HOME PODCAST.

Season 2 - Episode 13: Moving from Victim to Victor in Your Healing Journey with David Greenleaf

Season 2 - Episode 13: Moving from Victim to Victor in Your Healing Journey with David Greenleaf

Get ready to be pumped up by life coach, David Greenleaf’s transformational life stories.

What do you do after spending years focusing on healing your trauma, doing all the “right things” like regular therapy sessions and attending AA meetings, daily meditation, journaling and focusing on self-love and you are stuck STILL feeling sorry for yourself and your life?  David Greenleaf, life coach/blogger and podcaster, with many years work experience as a social worker tells us how he broke through from a victim mindset to being victorious over his inner demons.  It all started with Greenleaf listening to the inspirational work of David Goggin’s “Can’t Hurt Me.”  Goggins is an inspirational speaker, ex-Navy Seal and Ultra-Marathon competitor.

Greenleaf dove head first into exploring Goggins’ tough love approach of pushing through mental and emotional resistance to change through a confrontation with physical limits by taking up an intense cross-training routine. You will hear how his intense dedication to physical mastery, benefiting from his supportive cross-training community totally transformed his life.  After years of feeling oppressed by his history of childhood trauma, trying to cope with it through alcoholism, co-dependency and drugs, followed by years of working his Anonymous programs - he finally feels like he is living the life he was always meant to live.

Redefining his body also led him to redefine his career, realizing he could no longer work in a broken mental health care system which wasn’t truly addressing or helping to solve the root problems of his clients.  What makes Greenleaf’s work so unique - is that he has fearlessly confronted the trauma of his own life for years, and through it started serving others.  But in his own practice he adds: the introspective gifts of what he calls “deep woo-woo” of mindfulness in nature, raw-heart-felt sharing of his life story in his blogs and podcast to create connections with people and life, and t a “hard-ass with a heart of gold” personal trainer approach to life-coaching.  Join us for a wild ride of healing with David Greenleaf!

Season 2: Episode 12 - Getting Real about Sex Trafficking w/ Laura Wilcox & Sara Milligan

Season 2: Episode 12 - Getting Real about Sex Trafficking w/ Laura Wilcox & Sara Milligan

Much of what we know about Sex Trafficking we learn through sensational stories through the media, or exploitative narratives through entertainment.  In this episode Laura Wilcox, the Founder of Stir It Up Collective - a Canadian Non-profit created to provide skill enhancement, somatic healing workshops, employment opportunities, and eventually, Peer Support to individuals who have experienced sex trafficking, gives us REAL tips on how to:

  • Recognize and protect yourself or others from sex trafficking
  • What makes a person vulnerable to being lured into trafficking
  • What are the methods traffickers use to lure people in
  • Help someone if you suspect they are being trafficked and/or abusive relationship
  • Find help if you are in a sex trafficking situation
  • Increase one’s confidence to escape a sex trafficking situation
  • Start healing through Somatic work - dancing, singing, etc.

Sara Milligan, board member of the Stir It Up Collective further elaborates on the above and adds her knowledge of anti-violence work she has gained working in a Domestic Shelter.  She explains how in spite of how grim the issues of Sex Trafficking and anti-violence are, that both she and Laura really have found a joy in creating the collective.  Focusing on creative collaboration and healing is a joyful act - and focusing on this joy is prioritized in order to mitigate the painful struggles of their clientele.

In this episode both Jude Gorini, an Intuitive Coach, and Leela Davis, a Creative Wellness Coach, dive into their interview with Sifu Devante' Love, Kungfu Master and founder of Healing Kung Fu, Witch and Doctorate Student of Columbia.  WHAAAAAAT?  Many minds were blown by this interview.  We are often taught that when we are dealt difficult hands in life, especially regarding societal/cultural oppressions like racism, sexism, or homophobia that has few options to address it.  Societal pressures encourage us to put up and shut up, squelching our spirits and souls in order to avoid dangerous pushback.  Or activist culture encourages us to aggressively fight out in the open, making us and even our families and friends potential targets of any number of negative responses from violent words and acts to financial deprivation.  Devante' tells fascinating stories about he shapeshifted through obstacles related to his coming out at 12, discovering the roots of slavery associated with his birth surname, and coming to term with psychic abilities he found disorienting in his youth.  Sifu seamlessly weaves all of these stories and more showing how he LIVES the role of an activist of imagination.  He shows how the most power you can hold is the ability to RE-imagine your life.

Check out this magical episode where Sifu shares some of his "secret psychic sauce" regarding his 1 to 1 sessions and poetic embodiment while leading Kung Fu Classes.  You can find his work at

Season 2 - Episode 8 - What's Missing in Most Conversations about Mental Health?

Season 2 - Episode 8 - What's Missing in Most Conversations about Mental Health?

CELEBRATION! Yeah! Yeah! You wouldn't think that talking about mental health challenges would be a good time, but Jude Gorini, an Intuitive Coach and myself Leela Davis - a Creative Wellness Coach manage to enjoy discussing what we are passionate about. We are BOTH on a mission to bring more authenticity and complexity to :
What is it about life that leads to mental health challenges?
Why is there so little discussion in traditional Western therapy regarding the toxicity of certain cultural norms that support homophobia, racism, sexism and all the other isms?
If we have a diagnosis, does that have to mean we need to be "fixed" or are "broken"?
Why are so many healing modalities that have thousands of years track records ignored as serious options for people?
Is taking meds ALWAYS the best option for folks with certain diagnoses?
In this Episode we are just scratching the surface of many of the topics that we plan to cover in depth with a variety of guests, especially those who have lived experience with Mental Health Challenges and are living Krazy Beautiful lives.

Episode 7 - End of Summer Freakout and Other Fabbo Fails

Haley Novander and Liza Davis dish out on their latest Fabbo Fails (things they are struggling with & determined to turn around).  Haley is dreading the dark and cold being a Southern California Belle.  Liza suggests that they hold a funeral for summer and focus on cozy inside activities like baking and making art.  Haley considers adopting a Bear mindset & crafting an organic B--t plug & committing to months of winter hibernation.

Haley Novander's Fabbo Fail #2 - HOW to improve performance on online courses.  They discuss the following list of great online resources, yet ANOTHER good way to power through the winter months!  Haley  signed up to "Ignite Your Creativity" a free class on the Coursera platform via SUNY - https://www.coursera.org/learn/ignite-creativity .   Haley states her concerns about how she does better learning by DOING.  Liza suggests other online platforms which focus on DOING, especially Lynda and Creative Live.

Liza's Fabbo Fail #1  - Social Media Marketing - How does she improve her performance?  Then Liza and Haley get sidetracked into discussing Podcast Creation strategy.  So, yes, you get a "behind the scenes" look into the production of podcasts, as Liza and Haley debate the format and rules of the podcast.

Liza's Fabbo Fail #2 - Liza reflects upon her spoken voice in the podcast vs. her written voice.  She worries about a possible lack of credibility due to her "goofy" demeanor on the podcast.  She wonders out loud, how to channel her inner "Mrs. Shakespeare while speaking.

Episode 6 - I am LEFT and My family is RIGHT?

Episode 6 - I am LEFT and My family is RIGHT?

This is an episode about POLITICS, SOCIAL MEDIA and other STUFF that makes both Haley and Liza crazy, like talking about politics and the modern world with family when you don't exactly see eye 2 eye.

  1. A little recap on the last Debate warming up for the next - Do we really want to be forced into choosing a candidate before we are ready? The primaries so many months away? Especially those virgin voters out there?  Shouldn't they be given a chance to get to know the candidates before they pop their political cherry?
  2. A sidebar on #Marianne Williamson whom they both agree is a candidate whose candidacy is grounded in a deep knowledge of American History & grounded morality, yet is maligned and misrepresented by the media.
  3. A sidebar on Misogyny in politics leads to  Kavanaugh - and his  member-swinging days of yore.  The main question being does he STILL refer to farting as BOOFING?
  4. And HOW would any political discussion be complete without a discussion on how Social Media has been dividing us as a country?  Liza has discovered that her Twitter addiction can serve as a window into learning how to deal with conflicts.  How she has been able to transform a rabidly aggressive twitter banter with digitalized foes into a digitalized friendship.  Do I hear the angels singing?
  5. And THEN it gets personal with Haley sharing her SECRETS on how to make peace with Right-leaning and Religious parents if you are a lefty-loosey!
  6. And THEN it gets MORE personal with Liza making a BIG REVEAL on how her Midwestern and selectively racist family came to accept her Secret past identity.  You want to know, you know you do!
  7. And of COURSE there is more --- you know like - Why do White people claim to be chronically color-blind?   Or When does a VP get to announce to the White House staff on behalf of our FIRST WOMAN President, " Put your D--- s away there is a LADY in the HOUSE!"

Episode 3 - How You Dress Your Robot & Other Pressing Concerns (feat. Tammy Babylonia)

Episode 3 - How You Dress Your Robot & Other Pressing Concerns (feat. Tammy Babylonia)

Episode 3 - Season 1
Liza is having a rough week, and Haley and special guest Ta-amy are here to save the day. Sometimes a stream of unadulterated nonsense is JUST ENOUGH to remind you why living isn't such a bad thing. This is a moment where you are best of THROWING out all your LEFT brain nitpickins and literalisms (they will only make you suffer in the long run) for the duration of the show. Random Ta-amy truths are shared like her elaborate vision of the start of EVERYTHING, how to pursue dreams when you are "dead inside" and her REVULSION with soup. Ta-amy asks Liza, "What is WRONG with you?" Liza doesn't know where to start on an answer that could be epic. But at the END of the day the nonsense of mirth has won the fight against the nonsense that got Liza down in the doldrums.

Intro Song -
I Don't Want Anybody's Help when I Think of My Poor Mental Health is sung by Haley Novander accompanied by Roxanne Mander's magical Ukulele and Electric Bass stylings.

Trailer for What I Didn't Tell My Therapist - Season 1

Trailer for What I Didn't Tell My Therapist - Season 1

In a desperate attempt to create a trailer BEFORE the launch, Liza calls Haley on the phone for help! After hours of listening to her recorded awkwardness, Liza is a bit hysterical, but in a good way. Haley is all business and forges ahead with the task and guides haplessly hopeless Liza in a task that should be the
simplest of all. But isn't it always the case, that when something SHOULD be easy, it often is ABSOLUTELY not?

Coming to you 3 hours following the 2 am launch of the first 3 episodes on July 4th - is the trailer of what you would have already seen IF you had been waiting and expecting the launch. In these moments of flailing incompetency, Liza is resting easy in their anonymity. She dreams of a day, when they will be FULLY recognized for their lack of talent and skills, but that notoriety has not yet arrived.

Someday both Liza and Haley will have achieved their dreams in spite of mental health challenges and numerous life obstacles. Come along for the ride as they share their love for self-help survival strategies, comedy and creativity that has gotten them this far!

Episode 2 - Grumpitude to Gratitude (feat. Paul Wong)

Episode 2 - Grumpitude to Gratitude (feat. Paul Wong)

Episode 2 - Season 1
Introducing Paul Wong, a fellow dreamer and aspirer of great things, AND dear friend of Liza and Haley's.
Well It Takes a Village to turn around some bad moods, mindsets or mental health challenges! And Haley, Liza, and Paul show you one tip up their sleeves. They have all had a hard week for various reasons: biology, politics, cruddy jobs, bills teetering out of control, cat fur, and feeling as if they are not living their best alife (whatever that is), the same ol" crap. They share how the alchemical power of Gratitude and Community of Friendly Fools can make all the difference in their worlds.
As a final flourish they separately pull out Energy Cards from the deck created by Sandra Taylor. What will the cards say? Will LIza find love? Will Haley find her Sugar Daddy? And will Paul be a lunar architect?
This episode points to the truth that whether you have dreams or not, you gotta find a way to enjoy the journey along the way - never mind the bumps in the road, dust in your eyes, skin frying heat or throat parching air - there is an amazing view - especially if you are falling off a cliff.

Episode 1 - False Starts and New Beginnings

Episode 1 - False Starts and New Beginnings

Episode 1  - Season 1  In the Spring of 2017 both Haley Novander & Liza Davis had a dream.  It was both humble, to create a podcast, and ambitious for two semi-professional procrastinators.  In the summer of 2017  they started recording the first episode on the roof of Liza's house, because the view was good but tragically the incorrectly set sound levels only recorded muffled laughter, the clinking of wine glasses, speed boat motors in the distance, and the cameo appearance of Ms. Meep, Liza's cat.  False start #1  Time mysteriously passed, as it does.  In the Fall of 2017 - they made another go of it, in Haley's bedroom at her parent's house, with a sign on her door in CLEAR SHARPIE CAPS reading : "Recording in Progress."  The recording began with great hopes.  The recording was interrupted, by a knock on Haley's door.  Her Mom had momentarily forgotten to read.  False #2 Was all LOST?  Haley and Liza thought so.  Time mysteriously passed, AGAIN. It is the Spring of 2019, the dream has haunted both Haley and Liza for years.  What happened to the lost tapes? Could they give it the "third-time is a charm" go?  They pinky-swear to fully commit to their shared dream of podcasting and entering the ring of thousands,  starry-eyed and self-esteem slightly askew.    In May 2019 - The lost tapes of False Start #2 are found in the decrepit files of Haley's old-model Apple computer.  They listen to them with wild-eyed wonder.  They aren't half bad, in fact they fancy them to be more than 50 per cent good! "Good enough," they cry and devise a mad-cap plan to create an INTRO in the present day to answer the age-old mystery  of  "Why don't we all follow through with our dreams in a timely manner?"  THEN to segue into an edited montage of the lost tapes of Fall 2017.  And close with an OUTRO of some  nauseating self-congratulations, you as a poddie have come to hate and love from all the creators that have every dared to create.  If we don't love our "stuff" who will?!  We swear our "stuff"smells like roses, or at least daffodils!  New Beginnings #1 Intro Song - There was a Time I Got (fill in the blank) is sung by Haley Novander & Liza Davis.  Ukulele strummings by Haley. Episode ONE is complete - One dream down!  and so many more to go!
