70 years of collecting!

70 years of collecting!

In May 1951, a local history museum first opened at Windsor Guildhall. As we approach the 70th anniversary of our museum collection, we thought we'd take you on a behind-the-scenes journey to learn about our treasures and how the museum collection developed over the last 70 years. Come along with us as we reveal some of the more unique objects in our care and how we use our collection to research, share and preserve the history of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Stay tuned on oral history

Stay tuned on oral history

In our previous podcast episodes, we have used our oral history collection to help tell hidden histories in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. In this episode, we recall how these oral histories were collected as part of our 'Beyond the Castle Walls' project, and we also discuss what oral history is, how to conduct interviews and the value of museums collecting oral histories.  Resources discussed can be found on the Oral History Society website: https://www.ohs.org.uk/ Royalty free music from https://www.fesliyanstudios.com/ Please DO NOT add this audio content to the Youtube Content ID System.
