Stay tuned on oral history
In our previous podcast episodes, we have used our oral history collection to help tell hidden histories in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. In this episode, we recall how these oral histories were collected as part of our 'Beyond the Castle Walls' project, and we also discuss what oral history is, how to conduct interviews and the value of museums collecting oral histories. Resources discussed can be found on the Oral History Society website: https://www.ohs.org.uk/ Royalty free music from https://www.fesliyanstudios.com/ Please DO NOT add this audio content to the Youtube Content ID System. VE Day in the Royal Borough - 75 years on
In this Victory in Europe Day special, we share oral history clips from our collection to help reflect on the varying ways in which individuals connected to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead experienced the Second World War. We also recount the important role a local man played in the final hours before surrender 75 years ago and explore the experiences of residents on the home front.
Thank you to the Maidenhead Heritage Centre (https://maidenheadheritage.org.uk/) for featuring in this podcast and to the local residents who shared their stories with us.
