Hardwick takes the lead on finding the many clues that will lead to who has been killing off members of the Clayborne family. Josephia finds out the truth about Lizzie's origins and how her sister still haunts her.

He is a detective with a special gift for solving crimes that would otherwise be lost in the clutter. He has just arrived from London, helping Scotland Yard with the White Chapel murders. Josephia has been called upon by the Police Chief of New Amsterdam, Abraham Lusk. Apparently, a wealthy widow by the name of Jessica Clayborne has been murdered, and Josephia may be the only one that can figure out what has happened to her before the people in the city begin to make their own conclusions.
