Welcome to Witchy Work Wishes – Today is an open mic type setting again …this time with Anika and Connor. And it’s a direct extension from last week’s episode where the three of us were testing out some Waxing Moon cocktails in the spellbound spirits series.   Honestly, we just let the mic keep recording as we shared some personal stuff, some family stuff and some talk about religion & witchcraft. So grab a drink and some snackies ... and enjoy our campfire style conversation!

It's time for some waxing moon energy with our Spellbound Spirits series and today's episode is lots of fun! I have Anika and Connor joining me to help create some magical drinks! Today’s topic is an important one in my own personal practice. I am highly tied to cats … they are my strongest familiar that have been with me the longest (with Crows & Ravens coming in a close 2nd). I did a two-part episode on Witchcraft & Cats back in August of last year and today’s Herbal Magic episode on Catnip is another layer to this strong connection – for me.  Catnip (Nepeta cataria) is a perennial herb native to Europe and Asia, known for its distinctive scent and its intriguing effects on cats. However, beyond its feline allure, catnip holds a rich history of both magical and medicinal uses that span centuries of human tradition. Join me for today's episode as I share some great tips and spells you can use in your own personal practice.

This is a personal recording for me ... which goes through the family drama and emergency we had this past week with my Mom. Trigger warning, I do talk about open heart surgery here. But, it all ties into the specific Black Salt and May 1st potion I made for my Mom for Mother's Day!

Ostara originated in Germany and both the celebration and goddess are German.   Back in December … we lite a fire for Yule celebrating the sun that would return.  And then with the Imbolc fertility of Brigid … The light that would overtake the dark. Well, it’s here!  The wheel of the year marks the beginning of Spring with Ostara.  Ostara is balance.  Equinox actually means - equal.  The sun is crossing over the equator which makes our days and our nights – equal.  Ostara celebrates beginnings, birth, dawn and fertility.  It’s about cleansing, gardening, life and renewal.  Ostara is about saying goodbye to the dark and night …..  and hello to the light and day. Because if you are like me, you struggled at the beginning with the art of baking bread.  But, for today …. Are you ready? We are getting into it today and talking about Shadow Work with Kristen Ramezzana. This is not an episode for kids ... this really is geared for adults today as Kristen walks us through what Shadow Work is, how we can do it and some great things to be mindful of along the way. It's the perfect way to wrap up our calendar year so we can think about diving into our subconscious and working through the issues (known and unknow) next year.

Yule 2023 :-) Quick Snapshot ...

1.      Yule is typically around December 21st each year and goes through the 1st of January.  It’s directly tied to the Winter Solstice.

2.      Colors for Yule will be Red, Green, Silver, Gold, White and Blue.

3.     Crystals & Stones for Yule are the Bloodstone, Clear Quartz, Diamonds, Emeralds, Rubies and Garnets.

4.      Herbs & Flowers will be our thistle, chamomile, ivy, mistletoe, peppermint, rosemary and sage.

5.      For our oils and incense you’ll want to use cedar, cinnamon, cloves, frankincense, juniper, myrrh, peppermint, pine and sweet orange.

6.      Trees for Yule are cedar, juniper, pine, holly, fir, apple, birch, chestnut, and citrus.

7.      Deities are The Oak King and the Holly King.

8.      Great things to do for Yule are going to be making a yule log (again that is going to be a piece of wood / a log that has decorations like holly or mistletoe, pinecones, evergreens, and 3 candles.  You can use it as your table’s centerpiece and then burn it in your bone fire.  Even more powerful if you have any remnants of lasts years fire with your 2022 yule log in it …. To start the new fire this year.  If you don’t … be sure to save a part of this year’s fire you so can start your 2024 yule fire with it).

9.      Decorating a yule tree is perfect for the holiday …. Even better if it’s a live tree that you can plant in the Spring.  Be sure to top it with a five-point star representing the 5 elements.

  10.  Other good things to do for Yule are going to be making a witch’s bell, bake something for the holidays, make or buy gifts for your loved ones, decorate your alter, celebrate with fire with your candles and fireplace (of course if you can …. Do a little fire magic and write down what you want to let go of for the new year and burn it).

11.  New things I am doing this year are going to be making dried orange slice garlands, celebrating the Wild Hunt and doing some much-needed shadow work at the end of Yule. 

I had so much fun working with Justin on these two podcasts ... The conversation just flowed the way it was meant to be. Justin's big announcement is in this part 2 episode ... and I am very happy for him!

Today we are wrapping up my first year of podcasts.  And I could not think of a better way ... nor could have planned it any smoother than how it happened organically, with my two boys ... open mic, just letting the conversations flow and be what they are.  So today, thank you for coming back to part 2 of the two-part recording with them. And today – we go even deeper into conversations with some very special card pulls with both the Oracle deck and the tarot deck that I have.  Happy 1-year Witchy Work Wishes!!

Well - this is a fun one, and really different. It's free flowing ... organic and very very personal as you hear an impromptu recording with me, my son Taylor, my son Connor and one of their friends, Truett. We talked for hours - but I was able to condense it down into two episodes. Today, we get into our dreams and what they mean!

Our fall equinox happens on 9/23 this year - it's also the Witch's Thanksgiving - Mabon :-)

Knot Magic is the art of adding either a very specific spell or adding a strong intention into the thread, string, rope, ribbon … whatever element you are tying, physically tying …  you are giving it energy as you tie it.  I know the first thing we think of when tying a knot – is binding.  But, there really are a bunch of different spells and energies we can bring forth when doing knot magic.  Join me today to find out!

Welcome to Witchy Work Wishes, I am your host Charlene and today we are getting creative!  It’s all about the Witch’s Ball … where they came from and how we are using them today.  Of course – I have some great options for a witch’s ball for your office too! 

This half way point is powerful.  It’s a time of fulfillment.  It’s a great time to connect to our intuitive side and psychic abilities.  We just came off our new moon this weekend – so If you want to give your 2023 goals a punch – tag this episode or make notes on what you can do on our next full moon, which is happening at the beginning of July. Perfectly half way though our year.  That personal space we talk about …. The personal time that you need to carve out to look at your goals and reflect...  Plan for it. Do it on the full moon coming up.  My recommendation …. And what I’ll be doing on the July full moon, Is this:

1. Reflect and celebrate your wins.  Cross of the goals you have already completed and give great comfort to yourself for doing so.

2.Take your remaining goals … whether you have one goal or 10 goals left that have not yet been completed …. and write something for each one.  Start out by saying “I want it so I can _____ ”.  Have a why for each one.  Why you want it.

3. Write down what has stopped you from getting this goal completed.  What are the roadblocks you have encountered, what are the habits holding you back from having it completed …. Or what are the repetitive words you keep telling yourself to sabotage the success of having it.  Write it down.  Promise.  The more we can understand it … the less power it will have over us. 

4. Take the remaining goals …. And write another list.  This time … go back to the step when you originally made it and redo the timeline.  We have 6 months left with our annual goals.  Break it down and work backwards like I do if you need to.  I know this will be completed by December 15th. In order to have it completed by December 15th I need to have this done by November 1st, this done by October 1st and then this done by August 15th.  Measure it out.  Have the Why right under the goal – and then the actual timeline, the specific dates of the goal broken down …  into the steps you will take and when.  Back to the SMART acronym … this is the time sensitive and measurable part of it.

5. After you are done with your new list …  POST IT ….. put it somewhere that will continually remind you what you are doing all of this for and where you are in your timeline to complete it.
