Vote Like You Mean It: Criminal Justice Reform
🚨 ONE WEEK LEFT 🚨
In the final episode of Woke & Broke's election-focused series, Ardyst and Gaby share both Joe Biden and Donald Trump's stance on criminal justice. Racial tensions have risen exponentially and we have experienced a civil rights movement since the murders of Breonna Taylor, Elijah McClain, George Floyd and so many others at the hands of law enforcement. The justice system as a whole — from policing, drug sentencing, cash bail, prisons and rehabilitation — needs an overhaul of change. During a time of so much distrust and unrest, which candidate is going to be able to address the issues at hand and move this country forward to make it a just, fair and safe place for all?

49 Days to Go: Your Election Connection
With less than two months remaining before one of the most important — and controversial — elections of our lifetime, we're back to weekly episodes! In this episode, Ardyst and Gaby give a quick update on their focus for the podcast until Nov. 3rd and share some news about where the podcast is headed post-2020.
Who's Hiding and Who's Lying?
On this episode, Ardyst and Gaby open up to share their honest thoughts and feelings about what has transpired over the past couple of weeks. From Kenosha to the Democratic and Republican Conventions. Taking from their communications expertise, they talk about how different both party's messaging strategy is and the effect it had on them — and what they assume it had on the public. Can Trump really make America great again, again? Is suburban life at risk? Is Joe REALLY hiding? You have to listen to find out!
Colonizers Gonna Colonize: Puerto Rico and the United States
How much do you know about America’s commonwealth territory, Puerto Rico? Gaby and Ardyst are joined by guests Claudia and Lauri, who are from Puerto Rico, to talk about the truth and hidden past of the island and the United States involvement.
When Hurricane Maria hit in 2018, it caused vast devastation and destruction that the island is still recovering from today. The Trump Administration was ridiculed by many for its lack of relief and aid given. Unfortunately, this is only a recent example of the U.S. involvement — or lack there of — in Puerto Rico. We talk about the history of Puerto Rico and the United States and how it plays into the current politics and economy, including the upcoming referendum vote for statehood.
You don’t want to miss this! We learned SO much of this information in the book “The War Against All Puerto Rican’s” by Nelson Denis, which details Puerto Rico’s history and the truth behind its revolution that is largely unknown, even to many Puerto Rican’s today. This information was learned as a result of recently declassified FBI files that the writer complied into this book.
