Greek Life : A Divine talk about the Divine Nine (Testimony of a Redeemed AKA)
Sisters!! If you grew up in or close to black culture you are familiar with greek life. I personally grew up wanting to become apart of Delta Sigma Theta, because I didn't think I was pretty enough to be an AKA ( self-esteem was pretty low to say the least). I later learned that the oaths, rituals, and organizational commitment was not pleasing to God. That was confusing, because so many of the Christian women I admired were apart of these organizations. No one talked about the spiritual aspect of being a member. I discovered this from the outside looking in, but my sister in Christ @Itsdesireegrace lived it. God changed her life tremendously as she surrendered her will and life to Christ when He told her to give it up... AND talk about the "why" publicly. It came with a lot of backlash, but also a lot of love. Through it all, she is fully persuaded that she made the right decision and wants others to know the truth according to God's word as well. Abortion... The choice before conception.
Yep, I'm talking about it... Abortion. I've tried ignoring it, came up with several excuses for why I shouldn't speak on it, but God wasn't having it. If this helps just one person, and saves just one life I will be satisfied. This is about so much more than choosing what you do with your body... The baby has a body too. If we continue encouraging sex with no consequences we will only continue seeing women forced to make a choice after conception rather than before. We must be proactive. If abortion clinics are going into the schools teaching kids about sex, then we as Christians should be just as bold talking about these topics as well. This is only the beginning.

This may be a little uncomfortable for some of us, but it needs to be discussed. No longer can we avoid conversations due to feeling hypocritical. In this episode I discuss the shift of standards and values in African American culture over time. I share statistics meant to help up see the big picture, and not to offend you about where you may be at this point in your life. I was there once too, but we can't afford to stay there! We have all made mistakes, but what matters is how we learn from them! I want us to do what we can to impact culture by starting in our own homes. Younger girls are watching you, and we need to have standards that show them how to love and value themselves as beautiful, intelligent, valuable black women with dignity. It won't happen over night, but we can start working on it everyday until we see change! Let's Go Ladies!!
