Both co-hosts provided information about HIV and African Americans and acknowledged some of the root causes that contribute to the increase of HIV in African Americans in the Deep South.

Co-hosts Dr. Pam Foster and Mrs. Reashanda White provided updates on COVID-19 and HIV. Listeners were reminded that COVID-19 is not OVER and to REMAIN VIGILANT! Mrs. White provided a report from the Alabama Department of Public Health on the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in Alabama as well as the number of Alabamians that received a COVID-19 vaccine. Dr. Foster talked with listeners about Herd Immunity. Also, Dr. Foster reminded listeners the importance of getting a COVID-19 vaccine and completing the series of COVID-19 vaccinations. Masking and social distance updates were provided to listeners. In addition, Dr. Foster provided an update on the HIV vaccine.

Ashley came to the show to talk with Dr. Pam Foster and Mrs. Reashanda White about MAO, her climb at MAO as well as MAO’s 35th Anniversary Year events and activities.  Listeners received historical information about MAO as well as services offered by MAO and the vision for MAO. Ashley shared with listeners her educational background as well as the various roles that she has served in at MAO that led her to becoming the Interim Chief Executive Officer. Also, Ashley provided listeners with information on upcoming services MAO will be providing for individuals in the community that is not infected with HIV.  In addition, Ashley shared with listeners upcoming activities and events MAO is hosting for their 35th Anniversary.

COVID-19 Update featuring Dr. Mary G. McIntyre, Chief Medical Officer, Alabama Department of Public Health

Co-hosts Dr. Pam Foster and Reashanda White were joined by Dr. Mary McIntyre to provide an update on COVID-19. Dr. McIntyre provided an update on the number of COVID-19 cases in Alabama. Listeners received an update on the seriousness of the Omicron variant. Dr. McIntyre provided an update on vaccinations for children.

Listeners received information on COVID-19 and pregnant women.  Also, listeners received information on the new CDC guidelines for isolation and quarantine. In addition, Dr. McIntyre informed listeners on the importance of vaccinations, masking and testing to combat COVID-19.

This week’s episode focused on HIV and Stigma. Dr. Foster talked about her research “PROJECT FAITHH”. She provided information on what is stigma and the different types of stigma related to HIV. Dr. Foster provided information on what they found and learned from the research project.

World AIDS Day 2021

This special show on A Woman’s Worth is dedicated to World AIDS Day was moderated by Dr. Pamela Payne Foster. After giving a short summary on the history of World AIDS Day (WAD) founded in 1988 along with a moment of silence in remembrance of those persons with HIV who have passed in the Montgomery area, she had three special guests of the AIDS Service Organization, Montgomery Advocacy Outreach (MAO) including Dr. Margarite Barber-Owens an internal medicine physician who was formerly in private practice in Montgomery and currently works part time as a clinician with MAO, Douglas McCloud- Education and Outreach and Teresa Benson - facilitator for the Women’s HIV Support Group. The guests covered two main topics from their respective: how HIV services and treatment have improved since the first WAD celebration and what HIV services and treatment will look like in the future.
