Empowering women, single moms, and dads. When I started the podcast I did not know what I was doing. But I kept going anyway and I share my experience with mild depression. As time progress I stated to began finding my voice. Don't give up on yourself dispise the setbacks, challenge, and being knock down by life. We have no control over what the univeral give us. Be we do have control of our thoughts, can what we don't have control over. We dont have to tolerate what we can't control or what is controlling you!

Today is our last Tuesday of 2021 and I want to make this day an exciting day. A day of remembrance  where we where, where we going and all of that good stuff. Through this journey this year it has been so amazing for me.

I have grown, I have excel. I have learned new things. I've added and removed things in and out of my life. I've made drastic changes for myself and my family, and for my business as well. I've pivot my business, I never thought I would. A lot of stuff. I am excited about the closing of 2021 and much more excited for the newness of 2022.

Oh hello hello hello it’s your girl Robin Lewis host of Women of Power hour and I am here this afternoon. You guys already know it’s Tuesday mental health Tuesday. And today conversation is about the what’s going on with these numbers that are rising and the media is trying to sprinkle out fear across the airways. 

Numbers are up because people aren’t getting tested people are getting tested because they want to go and visit their loved ones friends and family it’s the time of the year where people gather together with all their family members and things like that and they want to be able to be in a safe environment with their family so the numbers going up do not be alarmed the more people that come out and get tested the more we going to get more of his accurate results on what is going on don’t feel that the Covid is spiking.

The more people get tested in any way shape or form if you don’t get tested you do not know your status so by people getting tested allow the CDC to have a record of what is going on in our areas. So I just want to cover and share some knowledge to you guys so you will know what’s going on those cases were already here or people may have gotten sick from the previous holiday 

Thanksgiving remember people are letting their guards down and feeling that the pandemic is over and despite that you are vaccinated it is still a possibility that you could catch the virus so be mindful be safe and make your wise decision that is best for you and your family have a blessed day

Anxiety is an umbrella term for feelings of fear, nervousness, apprehensiveness, or worry. Everybody gets anxious at times and some anxiety actually helps us to function well, but anxiety can become a problem when:

  • It happens too often
  • It goes on for a long time
  • It stops us from doing things that we want to do
5 questions Why Is Having Some Anxiety A Good Thing?

Imagine never being anxious or nervous: how would you know how to take care of yourself? 

How would you know not to run across a busy road? 

Or to mind your footing when walking along the edge of a cliff? 

Or to be cautious when approaching a potentially dangerous animal? 

Feelings of anxiety are there to guide us to take care of ourselves.

What is limited beliefs

Limited belief are you belief that you picked up along your journey either from your mom, dad, sibling, community, and environments

  • TV
  • Social Media
  • Peers

How can something have such an impact in your life that make you stuck and not be able to dream big.

Many people are battling with this LIMITED BELIEF. The only thing hold you back is you putting  limits on the things you wish to achieve. You adapt behaviors that only you have control over, because you keep telling yourself you can’t have that. You don’t believe that you deserve the one thing you desire to want.

If you can accomplish the smallest things you desire, you can definitely achieve the big things. The Gap of limited belief is you limiting your own self from what you really want.

You may have to work on yourself to identify what is causing you not to get what you want out of life.

List of limitation

  • Not enough, not enough courage
  • Skills need
  • Getting help
  • Networking
  • Coming out of your own way
  • Stop making excuses
  • Fear
  • Anxiety
  • Truma
  • Grief
  • The list goes on and on…

What action will you put in place to overcome your limited belief. I have put together a step by step guide where you can work on yourself. I have use these step in my own life.

Step 1

Work on your Mindset (shaping your mindset is so tricky. Staying positive when everything around your is crazy)

Step 2

Set a clear goal (vision)

Having a clear and concise goal. Make it even easier to reach.

Step 3

Be consistency

Many battle with anxiety, procrastination, and laziness. You have to pick yourself up do matter what might come your way, and show anyway for you.

Step 4

Get accountability

Being accountable can be hard, by have a partner can help you stay on tract, when you’re slipping.

Step 5

Set deadline when you must accomplish this action place

(3mos, 6mos, 1yr etc)

When you set a deadline allow you to see how long you need to reach those goal on time or early.

Create a road map on what you will need to accomplish is goal, what tools, resources and strategy will you put in place to put this wheel in motion.

Nothing is guaranteed you may have to add or subtract things that are not working. Do some tweaking to be able to achieve that goal…

When your are told you can’t, you see beyond your, beyond ourselves, beyonds limits, beyond belief.

What is Depression?

If you ask a group of people who've suffered from clinical depression to define the illness, you'll hear a variety of answers. Depression is a very personal experience that millions of people all over the world experience.

Different people manifest different symptoms, but one thing is certain: depression is a difficult illness that can destroy your life if left unresolved.

Many people with depression describe it as a sense of despair that engulfs everything they do and everything they feel.

If you think being depressed is akin to feeling sad because your favorite team just lost the championship game, you really have no idea what suffering from a true depression is like. Depression is much deeper and more invasive than sadness or frustration.

Depression takes everything away from you; it saps your energy, focus, concentration, and especially your joy. You just don't care about anything; nothing matters and even the people you love become unimportant.

Physical Concerns of Depression

Depression doesn't only take its toll on your emotions and mental state; it can cause serious physical problems as well. Depression may cause you to either lose your appetite or eat incessantly. It also zaps your energy and motivation.

When you're depressed, you tend to become inactive. This alone can cause a number of problems, but when added to some of the other physical side effects of depression, it's easy to see why depression is such a serious illness.

In addition, depression can lead to:

1. Lack of sleep. Depression can cause insomnia, which strips the body of the necessary sleep to function properly.

2. Poor nutrition. When depressed, many people fail to take in proper nutrients. It takes too much effort to plan and prepare a meal. This can cause several health problems.

3. Aches and pains. If anyone tells you that your mental state has no effect on your physical state they're wrong. When you're depressed, the chemicals in the brain that signal pain are as affected as the chemicals in your brain that help you feel happy.

* Physical aches and pains are increased, which in turn, kicks in the sad feelings and the cycle begins again.

4. Hygiene issues. Someone suffering from depression doesn't have the energy or the motivation to be concerned with self-care.

What are the Symptoms of Depression?

These are some specific things those with depression experience:

* Constant and severe sadness about everything

* Hopelessness

* Insomnia or trouble sleeping

* Irritability

* Trouble concentrating

* Loss of interest in things that once interested them

* Feeling worthless, useless and strangely guilty for no reason at all

* Serious change in weight, one way or the other

* Lack of energy and fatigue

One thing about depression is certain: it's a serious condition and should be taken seriously.

As depression progresses, it feeds on itself like a snowball rolling downhill. The longer someone is depressed, the worse the depression gets until they see no way out of it at all. They become resigned to being miserable all the time. 

Depression can be caused by a certain event, the change of seasons, a loss of someone close, or even a chemical imbalance in the brain. The treatment for depression usually involves counseling or medication that helps alter brain chemistry. 

If you know someone who is depressed, the best thing you can do is be his or her friend. Talk to them and help them through this period. Help them seek medical care to treat their illness.

Have you ever found yourself being intrigued or even jealous of how some people seem to excel at everything they do? It really doesn't take that much effort to excel in everything you attempt. It is important to understand that nobody can be perfect, but it is possible to be excellent.

The best way to develop a life full of excellence is by always putting your best foot forward and directing all your energy into your projects. As long as you acknowledge that you are doing your best, you really are excelling.

You have to put effort into everything you attempt, otherwise you can never develop excellence. You can't sit on the couch while becoming an excellent runner. You have to get out there and practice running by putting your best efforts into it.

Another way to develop excellence is to learn how to master things. This really applies to learning new skills or understanding how to run a new software program, for example.

You need to be committed in order to excel. Before taking on a project or committing to a goal, you must be prepared to fully commit and follow through with it.

Life is full of challenges. These can be ones that you set for yourself, or they can be ones that life throws at you. With any challenge you are going to make mistakes, and there is nothing you can do to avoid this. What you can do is to learn from your mistakes. When something goes wrong, don't put yourself down, instead think of what happened and learn from it. This way you will be more prepared the next time.

Another way to challenge yourself is by setting high standards. Don't be satisfied with only doing those things that come easy to you. Do something that takes you out of your comfort zone.

To really develop lifelong excellence you should always be open to learning. This may include learning from books or by taking courses. But it also includes learning from life and adapting to things as necessary. Be open to becoming a reader of life!

Before you can really develop your excellence you must understand what You are all about. Do you know what your strengths and weaknesses are?

Developing a lifelong habit of excellence does not happen overnight. You need to be aware of your journey and take in your surroundings, as well as the people you surround yourself with.

Be open to new experiences and be willing to learn from your mistakes. This will provide you with a life where you can be happy and healthy and excel at.
