183: Marill
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 183rd lesson on Pokémon biology. Today’s lesson is on Marill: the Aqua Mouse Pokémon. This little cutie is able to swim effectively in strong currents due to its water-resistant fur and oil-filled tail, which acts as a buoy to keep it afloat. And when a swimming Marill gets the munchies, it just dives down and feeds on aquatic plants. Mmmm - water salad is my favorite! And there’s more to learn about Marill, so make sure you take detailed notes!

182: Bellossom
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 182nd lesson on Pokémon biology. And this class today will be all about Bellossom: the Flower Pokémon and other evolved form of Gloom. This happy-go-lucky Pokémon is always found dancing, especially when it’s sunny outside. And when Bellossom dance, their petals rub together to create a sweet, soothing sound. Natural Pokémon ASMR for your ear holes. There’s more to learn about Bellossom, so make sure you’re taking notes! We'll see you for our next lesson on May 8th - enjoy your spring break!

181: Ampharos
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 181st lesson on Pokémon biology. This lesson is all about Ampharos: the Light Pokémon and the final evolved form of Mareep. Ampharos got its name from the incredibly bright light that emits from its tail. It gets so bright that you can apparently see Ampharos’ light from space! Imagine being crazy enough to test that out. And there’s more to learn about Ampharos, including its Mega Evolution, so make sure you’re taking good notes!

180: Flaaffy
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 180th lesson on Pokémon biology. And in today’s lesson, we will learn about Flaaffy: the Wool Pokémon and the evolved form of Mareep. This cute electric type isn’t quite as fluffy as its pre-evolution. Storing too much electricity has resulted in Flaaffy losing most of the wool on its body. But Flaaffy’s rubbery hide keeps it from electrocuting itself! Talk about innovation, right? And there’s more to learn about Flaaffy, so make sure you take good notes!

179: Mareep
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 179th lesson on Pokémon biology. Today’s class is on Mareep: the Wool Pokémon. And what do that wool do? Let me tell ya! Mareep’s wool stores electricity. The friction of the wool rubbing together causes a static charge. And the more electricity it has, the fluffier it gets! I know it’s tempting to run up to the nearest Mareep and bury your face in its wool… but you might get shocked. You’ve been warned! There’s so much more to learn about Mareep, so strap in and take good notes!

178: Xatu
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 178th lesson on Pokémon biology. And this lesson is all about Xatu: the Mystic Pokémon and evolved form of Natu. If you’ve ever seen a Xatu, you might notice they don’t move much. Many theorize that Xatu can see the future and past simultaneously and remains unmoving due to fearing its visions of the future. Xatu is burdened with much knowledge, so make sure to give them some extra love & care! And there’s much more to learn about Xatu, so please take detailed notes!

177: Natu
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 177th lesson on Pokémon biology. Today’s lesson is on Natu: the Tiny Bird Pokémon. Despite being a psychic/flying type, it doesn’t do a whole lot of either. Natu mostly stays on the ground, but it does sometimes hop onto branches to peck at tree shoots. More of a hopping type than a flying type really. New typing discovered! And there’s even more to learn about Natu, so take plenty of notes!

176: Togetic
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 176th lesson on Pokémon biology. And this lesson is all about Togetic: the Happiness Pokémon and evolved form of Togepi. And similarly to its pre-evolution, Togetic is all about good vibes. When Togetic senses kindness in humans and Pokémon, it will shower them in joy dust. And this glowing joy dust is filled with happiness! But if Togetic is ever around unkind folks, the vibes die down and it loses energy. And there’s more to learn about Togetic, so take good notes!

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 175th lesson on Pokémon biology. Today’s class is all about Togepi: the Spike Ball Pokémon. Did you think this was a Kanto Pokémon? Yeah, us too. This fairy type is a teeny little egg baby that absorbs the positive vibes of others and shares them to those who need it most. Because of this, many people believe Togepi is a sign of good luck. So if you’re planning on gambling at a casino, bring a Togepi! And students, voting for the next Class President officially ends at midnight tonight!

This round baby loves to sing! But Igglybuff can't go for too long or it'll start to hurt. Baby vocal chords can't handle much. Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 173rd lesson on Pokémon biology. Today’s lesson is all about Cleffa: the Star Shape Pokémon and pre-evolved form of Clefairy. Cleffa are absolutely obsessed with meteors. On nights with shooting stars, many can be found dancing in a ring. And boy do they get jiggy with it! When they’re finished dancing, Cleffa hydrate by drinking morning dew. Yum! And students, voting for the next Class President has officially begun - click the 3rd link below to vote!

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 172nd lesson on Pokémon biology. And for this lesson, we are heading to the Goldenrod City Day Care to learn all about Pichu: the Tiny Mouse Pokémon and pre-evolved form of Pikachu. Unlike its later evolutions, Pichu is not very adept at using its electric powers. If amused, startled, or zapped, it will discharge electricity and probably start crying. So this little baby Pokémon definitely requires extra TLC! And students, voting for the next Class President has officially begun - click the 3rd link below to vote!

Like its pre-evolution, Lanturn is known for the bright light it produces. Lanturn was given the nickname ‘The Deep-Sea Star’ due to how intense its flashing orbs are, which are visible on the surface from a depth of over 3 miles. What a bright little fella! This totally-not-bug-type is known for its antennae that shoot positive and negative electricity. And as you can imagine, these antennae glow quite bright! Chinchou uses them to communicate with others while it traverses the dark ocean floor. Light your own path, am I right? Fun message for the day, kids! If you thought Golbat was scary, think again! Crobat is a masterful flier - so much so that it can now fly silently. Seriously, you can’t hear a thing. Crobat can quickly swoop down, bite your neck with its sharp fangs, and suck your blood… without you ever noticing. Terrifying, right? This should’ve been our Halloween lesson. This elusive predator hunts at night. Ariados captures its prey by webbing it up, where it then bites the victim and sucks out their bodily fluids. Mmmm yummy! But sometimes, Ariados will simply attach silk to its prey and set it free. It will then track its prey again and kill it along with their friends. Sounds like quite a party! Hello there! Welcome to our 167th lesson on Pokémon biology, taught by our very own teaching assistant: Mr. Kurtis! And this lesson is all about Spinarak: the String Spit Pokémon and Mr. Kurtis’ personal favorite. Spinarak is a small, nocturnal bug Pokémon that is known for its strong webs. These webs are so strong in fact, that they are able to hold heavy rocks. But not boulders. At which point does a rock become a boulder anyway? Spinarak is a patient hunter and will wait for days to capture prey in its web. What do you think Spinarak’s favorite meal is? We’ll let Mr. Kurtis tell you in today’s fun-filled lesson!

This little Pokémon is nocturnal and loves to sleep during the day wrapped in leaves. When night falls, Ledian wakes and flies around eating berries while it scatters glowing powder everywhere. Rumor has it that this powder brings you good luck. So be on the lookout for some Ledian powder if you want to start the New Year feeling lucky! It loves to hang out in large groups. These group huddles are a bonus in the winter because all the Ledyba get warm and cozy! Adorbs. Ledyba also secretes an aromatic fluid from its joints to communicate with others. And what does this fluid mean? Well, there’s only one way to find out: pay attention and take notes!

What was once a cute little bird Pokémon is now the “Emperor of Dark Nights” as some claim. Noctowl has incredible eyesight that allows it to see in minimal light. Noctowl is also an assassin… kinda. It is capable of silent flight, allowing it to effectively sneak up on prey. And there’s so much more to learn about Noctowl, so make sure you take good notes!

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 162nd lesson on Pokémon biology. And today’s lesson is all about Furret: the Long Body Pokémon and evolved form of Sentret. This adorable Pokémon is slim and agile - allowing it to quickly maneuver underground through burrows. These burrows are specially crafted by Furret for their bodies, making it difficult for other Pokémon to enter. And in this well-protected maze of burrows is where Furret makes its nest. Just picture a bunch of Furret cuddling together in a tunnel… talk about ADORABLE! And there’s more to learn about Furret, so take good notes!

It’s often seen standing on its big tail, carefully observing its surroundings. There’s always at least one Sentret keeping watching. They quite literally take shifts. Isn’t that adorable? And when danger does come, Sentret warns its friends by slamming its tail on the ground and screaming. Sounds like my Monday mornings. There’s more to learn about Sentret, so take diligent notes!

If you thought Croconaw had a big mouth… think again! Feraligatr has incredibly powerful jaws, which it uses to eviscerate its foes. Like totally dismembering them. Really neat stuff! Feraligatr is such a hefty Pokémon that it typically walks on all fours on land. But beware… that’s when it’s most agile and deadly. There’s more to learn about Feraligatr, so take good notes!

This Pokémon always has 48 fangs inside its mouth. Always. No matter what. And if it loses a tooth, well guess what? Croconaw just grows it back! And these fangs are no joke. Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 158th lesson on Pokémon biology. Today’s class will be all about Totodile: the Big Jaw Pokémon. If it wasn’t obvious, this feisty water starter loves to bite. Totodile is naturally very playful, but it just can’t help itself! If Totodile sees an object moving, there’s a high probability it’s getting bitten! These big jaws are capable of crushing anything. So trainers, you might want to throw your poffins towards your Totodile - hand-feeding is not recommended! There’s more to learn about Totodile, so make sure you take good notes!

Quilava will never turn its back on you… unless you’re its enemy! In battles, Quilava will turn its back towards foes and use intense flames and hot gusts of air to attack. And if you try to fight fire with fire, think again. Quilava’s fur is non-flammable, so any fire attacks against it are useless. There’s way more to learn about Quilava, so please take good notes!

Mew is the opposite of its man-made counterpart Mewtwo. It is kind, gentle, playful, and purehearted. It has been said that Mew contains the DNA of every single Pokémon. Some even believe it is the ancestor of all Pokémon! Mew is so rare that most people don’t believe it exists. It is rumored to appear only to those with a pure heart and strong desire to see it. 150: Mewtwo
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 150th lesson on Pokémon biology. Today’s lesson is all about Mewtwo: the Genetic Pokémon. By no circumstances is this a Pokémon for any trainer. Mewtwo is a man-made Pokémon, created after years of unethical research, gene splicing, and DNA engineering based on the Mythical Pokémon Mew. Humans managed to create one of the most powerful Pokémon of all… but they failed to give it a compassionate heart. All Mewtwo thinks about is pulverizing its enemies, especially humans. If you ever happen to spot Mewtwo in the wild, please notify the authorities immediately… and beg for your life. There’s so much to learn about this Legendary Pokémon, so please take good notes!

Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 149th lesson on Pokémon biology. And in today's lesson, we will be learning all about Dragonite: the Dragon Pokémon (again) and final evolved form of Dratini. This incredibly powerful Pokémon can fly so fast, that it is capable of circling the globe in just 16 hours. Easily the fastest Pokémon we have discussed so far (don't fact check that, just trust me). Dragonite is also known for its caring nature, as it commonly rescues drowning people and guides lost ships to safety. So before you even dare think about making fun of Dragonite's bulky physique, just remember: you're talking about the great "Sea Incarnate". So show some respect! Dragonair has a ton of energy stored within its body, which it can discharge through the blue crystals on its neck and tail. And this energy can cause the weather to change! Because of this, many refer to Dragonair as a “divine Pokémon”. Also, it’s been said that if you see one at the start of a new year, you will be granted good health. Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 147th lesson on Pokémon biology. Today’s class is all about Dratini: the Dragon Pokémon. This rare, little noodle is constantly growing due to its excess life energy. As it grows, Dratini will shed its skin regularly. It typically hides behind waterfalls to protect itself during the shedding process. The shed skin is a very popular material used in shoemaking! Dratini skin shoes are quite expensive, so don’t wear them on a hike! Maybe a first date would be more appropriate. There’s more to learn about Dratini, so make sure you take good notes!

Also, this is our first class on a Legendary Pokémon (not to be confused with Arcanine)! Articuno is one of the three Legendary Birds of Kanto. It has the ability to control ice, which is helpful for flying since its seemingly translucent wings are made of ice. It's been reported that whenever Articuno flaps its wings, snow will fall. It has also been known to help travelers lost in dangerous, icy places. To be honest, you'd have to be pretty dumb to allow that to happen. Can you imagine? Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 143rd lesson on Pokémon biology. Today’s class is all about Snorlax: the Sleeping Pokémon. This massive Pokémon loves a good slumber! The only time Snorlax will willingly wake up is to eat! It requires approximately 900 lbs of food every day. And when you’re this fat, you don’t have room to be picky. Snorlax will eat anything. Its stomach allows it to consume expired food and apparently even Muk poison! Listen, just take our word for it. Please don't force your Snorlax to guzzle toxins. There’s much more to learn about Snorlax, including its Gigantamax evolution, so take good notes!

142: Aerodactyl
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 142nd lesson on Pokémon biology. And this lesson is all about Aerodactyl: the Fossil Pokémon. This vicious (rawr) Pokémon has saw-like fangs and loves to rip throats! Not one for kids' birthday parties, am I right? While Aerodactyl flies through the air, it lets out high-pitched screeches - alerting all in the area that their throats are in danger. As terrifying as Aerodactyl is, you likely won't see one... because they're extinct. It is commonly believed that a giant meteor killed them in prehistoric times. So your throats are safe... for now. There's more to learn about Aerodactyl, including its Mega Evolution, so take good notes!

141: Kabutops
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 141st lesson on Pokémon biology. Today's class is all about Kabutops: the Shellfish Pokémon and evolved form of Kabuto. Kabutops is most well known for its cool, sharp scythes, which it uses to slice its foes and drain their fluids. So appetizing. And any part of its prey Kabutops doesn't eat will be consumed by other Pokémon. The circle of life... beautiful! Kabutops is also a very fast swimmer, gliding through the water up to 29 knots! And there's way more to learn about Kabutops, so make sure you take good notes!

140: Kabuto
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 140th lesson on Pokémon biology. And this lesson today is all about Kabuto: the Shellfish Pokémon. Like our previously discussed fossil Pokémon, Kabuto used to thrive on the sea floor many years ago. However, they're not completely extinct - plot twist! There are rare cases of Kabuto living in the wild... but we don't know where. No one bothered to write that down. Kabuto is also so cool that it has gone unchanged for 300 million years. The perfect specimen. Never change, Kabuto! There's more to learn, so make sure you take detailed notes!

139: Omastar
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 139th lesson on Pokémon biology. Today's lesson is all about Omastar: the Spiral Pokémon and evolved form of Omanyte. After extensive research, scientists believe that this fossil Pokémon went extinct because it got fat... yes, I'm serious. The increased weight of Omastar's shell resulted in a loss of mobility, which affected its ability to hunt. But when this fatty could grab a meal, it preferred Shellder! Omastar would use its tentacles to capture the Shellder, crush the shell with its sharp beak, and then suck out the body. Yummy. Sounds tasty, right!? There's more to learn about Omastar, so take plenty of notes!

138: Omanyte
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 138th lesson on Pokémon biology. And this lesson is all about Omanyte: the Spiral Pokémon. So technically, Omanyte is extinct. Where Omanyte once thrived in ancient oceans, they’re all fossils now. But with the help of modern science, we can excavate the fossils and revive them! Crazy, right? While it’s great that so many have been revived, some Omanyte have been released or escaped back into the wild, where they’ve started to cause problems. What are those problems? Beats me. Hopefully not gang wars with other water types. There’s more to learn about Omanyte, so take good notes!

137: Porygon
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 137th lesson on Pokémon biology. Today's lesson is all about Porygon: the Virtual Pokémon. Porygon is mankind's first artificially created Pokémon! Due to it being artificial, it does not need to eat or breathe... but it will crush a delicious poffin. Just so long as Mr. Kurtis didn't make it. Porygon has the ability to convert its body into digital data, which allows it to travel across cyberspace. And as a special surprise in today's lesson, we are pleased to welcome Portia the Porygon, our class editor! There's a lot to learn about Porygon, so make sure you take good notes!

136: Flareon
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 136th lesson on Pokémon biology. And in today's class, we are learning about the fire type Eeveelution, Flareon: the Flame Pokémon. Flareon has a flame sac (also called a pouch, chamber, bag, etc), where it heats inhaled air and spews it as flames over 3,000°F. To keep cool, Flareon fluffs out the fur on its collar. Honestly, it's the most adorable thing you'll ever see. Flareon is also known to roast berries until they're well done before eating them. What a classy Pokémon! There's more to learn about Flareon, so be sure to take good notes!

135: Jolteon
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 135th lesson on Pokémon biology. Today's lesson is all about Jolteon: the Lightning Pokémon. This evolved form of Eevee creates electricity with an organ in its lungs. No one bothered to name this organ apparently. Jolteon is capable of discharging 10,000-volt lightning bolts, which it is able to do by accumulating negative ions in the atmosphere. These ions in Jolteon's fur cause a sparking noise, which you can hear if you get close enough to one. But not too close! Not only will you get zapped, but the hairs on Jolteon's body are spiky, sharp needles that can stab you! You have been warned. There's more to learn about Jolteon, so take plenty of notes!

134: Vaporeon
Hello there! Welcome to Professor Jacob’s 134th lesson on Pokémon biology. And for today’s class, we will be discussing Vaporeon: the Bubble Jet Pokémon. Once originally thought to be a mermaid, Vaporeon is a beautiful creature with a cell structure similar to water molecules. Guess that really does make it a water type… HA! Because of its cell structure, Vaporeon has the ability to melt in water! So be sure to double check your water filters… wouldn’t want you to pour a cold glass of Vaporeon! There’s more to learn about Vaporeon, so make sure you take plenty of notes!
