I get a lot of requests on how I create the lather that I often showcase on my Instagram updates. There are basic things to keep in mind when bowl lathering and I wanted to share with you what I’ve found to work after much trial and error!

I recently learned of a new (or new to me) technique for getting a great lather while using little actual product and getting consistent results. “What the Froth?”

A market over saturated with artisans, incredible product variety, a potential new experience with each shave, but that doesn’t change the expense we often run into as shavers and collectors when buying new product and taking what is often a big risk. Hello everybody and welcome back to another episode of the Shaving Tulsan Podcast. This is the first of hopefully many more interviews and discussions with guests on the show, and I was happy to bring on a friend and mentor, Brian Yost with Yost to Coast. In this episode we talk about our experiences as content creators and the nature of being “influencers” within the shaving space, the changing landscape of the community, how we see ourselves, and the good and bad that come with creating content. SEVERAL updates on this podcast, as many things have dropped or will be dropping soon from multiple Artisans! I did mention the Lupo drop, but have not seen that take place yet (or it did and they’ve sold out and removed it from their website) so sorry for the delay and possible misinformation on that! I also discuss my thought on reviewing or showcasing product, and being vocal about what you love. It’s easy to refrain from showcasing a shave setup, posting a video, engaging with the community of you feel you will insulted. But use and show what you love! That’s what this hobby is all about is doing what makes YOU feel great. Also, I know the audio is again a little quiet in this episode but I am working on a fix so that this will no longer be an issues, so stay tuned! This episode is a little different. Though I do discuss my love for the “Macy” brush from Frank Shaving as a tribute to Friendship Shaving (an awesome YouTube channel and Facebook group!) I also discuss the current state of the community and a growing trend that has been a concern of mine and that I feel I should mention. On it the reasons I have all of these platforms is to discuss my opinions on wetshaving, and this is no different. I hope everyone has a great weekend and shave on!

Synthetic Menthol! It is known by many names, synthetic coolant, Koolada, Frozen Space. We are finally seeing it utilized by multiple artisans and it’s taking the community by storm. With artisans like the Holy Black, Noble Otter, Barrister and Mann, and more, it’s only going to become more prevalent from here on out. But where did it start, what makes it different from natural menthol or other known cooling ingredients like Tea Tree or Peppermint Hydrosol?
