Linda Rainier... the saviour! The making of Emma's fury, the mind of Rainier!
Linda Rainier is an indie author and a big part of the Twitter Writing Community! She has been a fan of this show for some time and we consider her one of the family! She is funny, tenacious and determined! After a guest timining mixup, Linda was a superstar who stepped up to save the show! WE THANK YOU LINDA! Her books EMMAS FURY is one of two books by Linda, with a third on the way. EMMAS FURY: After a brutal and unnatural death, Emma is reborn as a Fury, a descendant of the mythological deities who were tasked with the judgment of man. They are tasked with protecting the delicate balance between humans and the paranormal world. In the world of the Fury there is no room for the frivolity of human nature; no room for compassion or a need for love. To fall victim to such volatile emotions leads only to ruin and suffering. In the shadows, darkness rises, endangering the tightly controlled world of the Fury. Emma must survive an intricate web of deceit and betrayal as the questions mount. With the aid of her guardian, David, they must find a way to beat back the evil that threatens to devour them. Will her hope of finding her place in this world be dashed by the insurmountable odds? Can she control the overwhelming emotions threatening to tear down her carefully constructed walls? The Miseducation of Evie Epworth, Matson Taylor on The WCCS.
This week we learn the story of historian, author, and academic writing tutor at the V&A, Imperial College and the Royal College of Art, #MatsonTaylor. Matson is the #author of #TheMiseducationofEvieEpworth and All About Evie. The Miseducation of Evie Epworth is the Bestselling Richard & Judy Book Club Pick which has had over 1500 reviews on Amazon! ABOUT: The Bestselling Richard & Judy Summer Book Club Pick 2021. The Bestselling Radio 2 Book Club Selection. ‘Tight, clever and riddled with wit. Like discovering Adrian Mole or Bridget Jones for the first time.’ Joanna Nadin, author of The Queen of Bloody Everything. ‘A sweet, fizzy sherbet dib-dab of a book - deliciously nostalgic, hugely funny and ultimately heartwarming. The perfect book for our times.’ Veronica Henry. ‘Such a joyful and uplifting read. Just the sort of thing that people will want to be reading right now.’ Anita Rani, Radio 2 Book Club. It is the summer of 1962 and sixteen-year-old Evie Epworth stands on the cusp of womanhood. But what kind of a woman will she be? Up until now, Evie’s life has been nothing special: a patchwork of school, Guides, cows, lost mothers, lacrosse and village fetes. But, inspired by her idols (Charlotte Brontë, Shirley MacLaine, the Queen), she dreams of a world far away from rural East Yorkshire, a world of glamour lived under the bright lights of London (or Leeds). Standing in the way of these dreams, though, is Christine, Evie’s soon-to-be stepmother, a manipulative and money-grubbing schemer who is lining Evie up for a life of shampoo-and-set drudgery at the stinky local salon. Luckily Evie is not alone. With the help of a few friends, and the wise counsel of the two Adam Faith posters on her bedroom wall (‘brooding Adam’ and ‘sophisticated Adam’), Evie comes up with a plan to rescue her future from Christine’s pink and over-perfumed clutches. She will need a little luck, a dash of charm and a big dollop of Yorkshire magic if she is to succeed, but in the process she may just discover who exactly it is she is meant to be. Moving, inventive and achingly funny, with an all-star cast of bold-as-brass characters, The Miseducation of Evie Epworth is a perfectly pitched modern fairytale about love, friendship and following your dreams while having a lot of fun along the way. 'Full of fabulous characters, sprinkled with joy and drenched in wit.’ Milly Johnson. 'Funny and original with a cast of eccentric characters, this debut novel is a tour de force. Not to be missed.' Sunday Express. 'A rich triumph of comic writing.' Waterstones.com 'One of the funniest, wittiest and most joyful books you will read this year.' Lancaster Guardian. Her latest novel Off Target is chilling page turner set In an all-too-possible near future, when genetic engineering has become the norm for humans, not just crops, parents are prepared to take incalculable risks to ensure that their babies are perfect … altering genes that may cause illness, and more… She attributes her love of all things dark and dystopian to a childhood watching Tales of the Unexpected and black-and-white Edgar Allen Poe double bills. OFF TARGET: A longed-for baby An unthinkable decision A deadly mistake In an all-too-possible near future, when genetic engineering has become the norm for humans, not just crops, parents are prepared to take incalculable risks to ensure that their babies are perfect … altering genes that may cause illness, and more… Susan has been trying for a baby for years, and when an impulsive one-night stand makes her dream come true, she’ll do anything to keep her daughter and ensure her husband doesn’t find out … including the unthinkable. She believes her secret is safe. For now. But as governments embark on a perilous genetic arms race and children around the globe start experiencing a host of distressing symptoms – even taking their own lives – something truly horrendous is unleashed. Because those children have only one thing in common, and people are starting to ask questions… Bestselling author of The Waiting Rooms, Eve Smith returns with an authentic, startlingly thought-provoking, disturbing blockbuster of a thriller that provides a chilling glimpse of a future that’s just one modification away… Praise for The Waiting Rooms ‘Combines the excitement of a medical thriller à la Michael Crichton with sensitive characterisation and social insight in a timely debut novel all the more remarkable for being conceived and written before the current pandemic’ Guardian. Max Brooks, World War Z, Devolution and The WCCS!
Host Chris Aggett has a favorite book, a book that inspired his own book series. That book is World War Z. The author of that book is Max Brooks. Max is an American actor and NYT best selling author, son of the legendary Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft! Max has written World War Z, The Zombie Survival Guide, Minecraft novels and most recently, Devolution. A book that has been called 'TRUE TERROR' by the Guardian and 'NAIL CHOMPING SUSPENSE' by Total Film. In this episode, we talked about the sacrifices Max's mother, Anne, made during her successful career to help Max with his dyslexia. Which on those days was considerably less researched and understood. Max talks about his physical research for Devolution; making weapons and growing food in a garage! This episode is a highlight for host Chris, being released on his birthday to begin season 8! Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Bar, with Izabella May.
Isabella May is the author of 10 novels. Her curiosity and love of international food and travel influenced them. Both of which feature extensively in her cross-genre novels, fused with a dollop of #romcom, and a sprinkle of magical realism. We will look at how her start in children's publishing lead to her #writing these much loved novels. And why writing with a #Christmas theme seemed the right thing to do. Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Bar was released in September of this year and has been called a delicious laugh-out-loud, feel-good romantic comedy - perfect for the holidays... Blurb: River and Alice miss Somerset. Christmas isn’t Christmas without family and friends, even when you live in quaint Cornwall. When River’s aunt Sheba dies unexpectedly, leaving him her ancient VW camper van, nostalgia nudges him and Alice back to Glastonbury - and the surrounding villages - to rediscover their roots whilst serving the most decadent hot chocolate and delectable gingerbread from their renovated ‘bar on wheels’. A bar on wheels complete with a fold-up stage to host local talent competitions rivaling anything Simon Cowell could dream up, even if he’d gorged on a truckle of Cheddar cheese! As the villagers sip their cocoa and ice their gingerbread houses amidst the festive backdrop of song, dance, and slightly more unconventional talents, River and Alice find themselves in an unexpected race against time: Zara, their chocolate supplier is leaving Glastonbury on the twelfth day of Christmas, keen to put a string of disastrous relationships behind her to make a fresh start. Bruno, their gregarious and gorgeous baking supplier is secretly smitten with Zara - ticking every box on her New Year’s wish list.If only they can get them together for one experimental kiss under the mistletoe... They’ve even enlisted their customers’ help in their mission to wrap this budding romance up in all the jingle bells and whistles. How hard can it be? So, ho, ho VERY tricky, as it turns out...
