Isolated severe wind gusts are possible this afternoon and evening from Oklahoma eastward across the Ohio Valley and into parts of the mid-Atlantic and New England. Meanwhile, hail or wind, occasionally reaching severe levels, will also be possible over the central and northern High Plains area.

Enhanced moisture will interact with a slow moving front supporting showers and thunderstorms Friday and Friday night with a flash flood threat possible from southeastern Nebraska into northwestern Arkansas.  Repeated rounds of thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected across the junction of Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas for the next 3 days. Numerous flash floods are likely throughout this region! Remember, when encountering a flooded road, turn around don't drown!

Special Hawaii Area Synopsis for Friday August 2nd, 2019 at 4AM (English)
Gusty easterly winds will continue through Saturday as Tropical Storm Erick passes south of the state. Deep tropical moisture expected to move over the islands north of Erick will keep the rain chances up, initially over the eastern portion of the state tonight, then across the smaller islands Friday through Saturday. The best chance for heavy rainfall and flash flooding will remain over Big Island windward areas.

Locally heavy rainfall is expected the next few days across parts of the Central Plains into the Mid to Lower Mississippi Valley from possible organized showers and thunderstorms near a stalled front. Precipitation amounts of one to five inches of rain is possible through Sunday from southeast Nebraska to portions of Arkansas, along with excessive rainfall and flash flooding threats.

Isolated instances of flash flooding may develop with heavy thunderstorms. Temperatures will run above normal in the Northeast ahead of the cold front and below normal in the wake of the front across the Northern Plains.

Sunday night into Monday morning, there's an area of cloudiness and thunderstorms persisting over the eastern Caribbean Sea, associated with a tropical wave. This disturbance is expected to move west-northwestward to northwestward across the north-central Caribbean Sea during the next few days, producing locally heavy rainfall and possibly some flooding across portions of the Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico and Hispaniola.
