From 1969 to 1972 Dick Von Hoene graced Cincinnati local tv channel WXIX as The Cool Ghoul on the iconic "Screm In" telecast. Once upon a time there was a collection of London ne'er do wells called "The Bromley Contingent". Among this collection of dropouts and punks were the likes of Siouxsie Sioux, Steve Severin and Billy Idol. They took their cues from a small band of talentless arnarchists known to the Queen as unruly peasants. When Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious and Steve Jones confronted Her Majesty's rules with a bit of harsh reality on the River Thames during her annual jubilee, their Sex Pistol banner started unfurling across the world. Today's episode is our first Aaron's Audio Edibles, and it is about the second album of Pistol disciple Siouxsie and her platonic Banshees, an album that combines themes of war with social commentary in a confrontational treatise that this Siouxie fan had largely neglected in the past. Joining us is one of Siouxsie's biggest fans, Herman De Tollenaere. As editor of the fanzine PIN, Herman twice got to interview Siouxsie during her visits to the Netherlands right around the time "Join Hands" was unleashed on the world. With his own band Cheap 'N Nasty, which he willfully admits could not have happened without the Queen of Goth's influence, Herman knows the subject of this program better than most. In the 1970's a small, low budget film by Toby Hooper called "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" terrorized audiences nationwide. Fans had a hard time determining if characters like Chop Top and Leatherface where real found footage of cold blooded killers in action. By the time Texas Chainsaw Massacre two reached audiences, Hooper added a sense of humor and production values that carried the tradition further. In late 1999, rumors of a theird Texas Chainsaw reached a frenzied fanbase, this time brought to you by the master's son, Tony Hooper. Despite rumors and a great deal of promotion for the film, "All American Massacre" never made it the big screen, or even to video stores.
