64. Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
The future of TWES is unclear, and today, I'm sharing all my thoughts on why. I promise this isn't a pity party episode—it's actually really fun and recaps a wonderful week and weekend, dives into Deli Dan a la Queer Eye, and then I share my reasoning on why my efforts may best be used elsewhere besides this podcast. I think I make some strong points, so tune in and if you want to reach out to me with your own thoughts, you know where to find me!

63. Voicemail Vent Sessions | Vol. 2
We're back this week with MORE voicemail vents from fellow listeners. From the audacity of strangers to ask when you're due (when you're NOT due) and dating being the worst, to being enraged by constant reposts on Instagram and not getting the raise you were promised, there's tons of cathartic venting happening on today's episode. Emma also shares some of her latest adventures with getting her eyes dilated, re-discovering delicious Dallas restaurants, minor injuries, and what The Millers are watching lately (including The Diplomat, Queer Eye, and Arch Digests' Open Door series).
Mentioned in this episode:
- Mot Hai Ba
- Future Islands (band)
- Le Sol House
- Sister
- Montlake Cut

62. Voicemail Vent Sessions | Vol. 1
…and we’re back! After a little break, Emma is back on the mic to talk about what the hell she’s been doing (celebrations, meet-ups, family visits) and what she’s reading/watching/listening to (Seth Rogen’s new memoir, a few bad movies, and one incredible podcast). She also introduces the first ever Voicemail Vent Session, playing listener voicemails from the podcast hotline (214-799-1252) and reacting to all your stories about shitty friends, shitty coworkers, and generally shitty people, really.

61. Perfectly Unhinged: A Mother/Daughter Episode with Ellen
In this week's episode, Emma sits down with everyone's favorite microinfluencer Internet mom—Ellen. They finally review Lessons in Chemistry (the book by Bonnie Garmus), go over Ellen's top Sephora sales picks, discuss premarital cohabitation, chat about their shared love of grocery shopping, share what each of them are reading and watching, and so. much. more. If you're into random tangents, stories of yesteryear, laughing, and never really getting to the point, you will love today's perfectly unhinged episode.

60. The Ebbs and Flows of Life-Long Friendship
Family is great and so is having a life-long romantic partner, but friends do so much of the heavy lifting throughout our lives so who we choose to remain close with means A LOT. That said, people are complex by nature and evolve overtime, so friendships that ebb and flow are just a part of life. In today's episode, Emma chats about the roles friends play in your life, how to navigate shifts in the friendship, when it's time to "break up" with a toxic friend or just let it fizzle, and shares some of her anecdotes about her best friends over the years. There's so much more to be said and studied on female friendships, but this is a good start.

58. Paging Nurse Geddie
I met Stephanie Geddie my freshman year of college at the University of Kansas, and we've been friends ever since. Geddie is our smartest friend (we've discussed this—I'm not offending anyone by stating this fact) who decided to do a 180º with her career, going from marketing to the healthcare field as an ER nurse. In this episode, Geddie shares how she realized she was in the wrong field in her late 20s, and how she pressed the reset button to get to where she is today. It's a bad ass story, and I couldn't be prouder to call her Stephanie Anne Marie Geddie German.

56. How the F*** I Stay Consistent with Diet and Exercise
"Intentions mean nothing without action." This is the hard-won lesson Emma's had to learn and re-learn over the last few years when it comes to diet and exercise and, on today's episode, she's (power)walking you through it all from her POV. It all started in 2019 when she hired her personal trainer, Meg Morat, and it's been a rollercoaster ever since. In this episode, she's sharing the details about her weekly regime assigned by Meg, her commitment to re-dedicate herself to it at the start of this year, and what staying consistent has done for her so far. She speaks to motivation versus discipline, and what role each play in the never-ending game of consistency. Of course, as usual, she starts the episode with a recap of her weekend, including babies, St Patrick's Day shenanigans, and a terrible brunch, and shares her reviews of the Chris Rock special, the Marlon Wayans special, History of the World Part II, Crashing, and both Miley Cyrus's new album and Coldxman's new album.
This episode is full of the good stuff, so enjoy!

55. Sun, Sand, and Seafood: A Much-Needed Escape to Cabo
Today's episode is *actually* a short one. 53. The New Era of EMMASTHING + An Attempted "Book of the Month" Episode
I'm not a book podcast, we know this. But I have gotten back into reading in a big way this year, so I figured it'd be fun to attempt a Book of the Month situation on the podcast. Unclear if we'll do it again, but hey—can't say we didn't attempt it. Besides reviewing Carrie Soto Is Back with my mom at the end of the episode, I speak to going "paid" with my newsletter last week and the "why" behind it all, tell you what the hell I've been doing lately, talk about some shows we're loving and finishing up, and essentially perform a spoken word love letter to Kate Kennedy of the Be There In Five podcast. Enjoy!

51. The Most WTF Things Men Have Said To Me
Valentine's may be one day, but Emma is capitalizing on the theme this month by making the next few episodes about love, dating, and relationships. To kick it off, Emma dug back through her blog archives to a post from 2017 titled "36 Of The Most WTF Things Men Have Said To Me," and in today's episode, she's reading it out loud for all to hear. You won't believe your ears, and that's kind of the point; sometimes, you have to kiss a lot of wastes of human life to find your Z. Emma ends the episode with the story of her worst date, and of course goes over what the hell she's been doing, and what she's reading & watching (Shrinking and Bad Sisters).
The first attempt of a TWES book of the month will be Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid. We'll discuss the book on the February 23rd episode, so get your copy before then!

50. Slow and Average Wins the Race with my Financial Coach, Cory Nichols
Emma takes a sharp left turn in her weekly content this week by having a conversation about money with her financial coach, Cory Nichols. Cory isn't your run-of-the-mill financial advisor—he's a money guy who believes that everyone should strive for "average," that there's a time to save and a time to spend, and who has a lot of thoughts on crypto and Dave Ramsey. In this episode, Emma gives her typical weekly recap (including some discussion around PMDD), announces the first "book of the month" for February, offers some reviews on a movie and a show, and then gets into all things money with Cory. Check the show notes for everything mentioned in this episode!

49. "No More Shortcuts" with Personal Trainer and Nutritionist, Meg Morat
Today's episode is long overdue. For the last (almost) four years, Emma has been working with personal trainer and nutritionist Meg Morat. Not only has Emma learned so much about diet, exercise, and everything in between, but her and Meg have formed a friendship, too (Meg was at the wedding!). In this episode, you'll hear Emma's usual WTHIBD (What The Hell I've Been Doing) + RWL (Reading, Watching, Listening), and then a full hour with Meg that covers a bunch of listener-submitted questions but far beyond those, too. Meg answers things like cardio or weights first? What is the perfect cardio to weight lifting ratio? Do fad diets or drugs work? How to start at home when you're not ready for the gym? How to get back into fitness postpartum, and SO much more. There's a lot of nuggets to be tucked away for later from this episode, and we hope you love it!

48. Hey, Jealousy!
In today's solo episode, Emma talks about last week's downward spiral into jealousy, imposter syndrome, and self doubt but all with an air of brevity. She hadn't had a spiral like this in so long, she really wanted to capitalize on it because what else is it if not content? Emma also chit chats about life lately, offers a few book and movie reviews, and remembers how incredible the show Fleabag is as her and her husband are rewatching it. 47. Vintage Duckeration with @harrisvintage
Vintage curator, brand design expert, and passionate cinephile Kaitlyn Coffee has not only been my friend for 25 years, but is the mastermind behind the instagram account @harrisvintage. For the first installment of my Refresh Series, I sit down with Kaitlyn at her home in Dallas, Texas and we shoot the shit about everything under the sun and then some. Kait talks about her upbringing, her climb through the advertising ranks, and her journey to where she is now as a self-employed expert vintage curator. You'll laugh, you probably won't cry, and you will enjoy the shit out of this episode. I can guarantee that. 46. New Year, Same Me (But Better)
Big, lofty New Year's resolutions are for the birds. Smaller, more specific resolves though? Those are great. For the first episode of 2023, I'm sharing my own personal resolves for the new year, including learning how to do a cat eye, carrying a book and small notebook with me everywhere I go, commenting more on Instagram, honing in my nutrition, and being even MORE unapologetically myself. I also recap my "winter break," and review a bunch of shows and movies including White Lotus, Babylon, The Patient, Jack Ryan, The Banshees of Inisherin, and the Shania Twain documentary. AND I share an incredibly concerning overheard conversation between a couple that is going to keep up at night for the foreseeable future.

Mentioned in this episode:
45. Your Unpopular Opinions
Opinions are like assholes—we all have one...or several. I'm bringing back a series favorite for the last episode of 2022: UNPOPULAR OPINIONS. Listeners had A LOT of thoughts, including but absolutely NOT limited to: Michael Bublé, Crumbl cookies, carbonated water, pregnancy kind of sucking, pedicures with friends, Colleen Hoover books, top sheets, ketchup, Nutella, avocado, and someone even came for chocolate chip cookies (audible gasp). Tune to listen and argue with these hot takes, PLUS hear my week and weekend recap, how Z and I got caught in the act by my parents, a Dallas restaurant review, and a lot of chitchat about TV shows. 42. Part I: AMABWQ (Ask Me Anything BUT Wedding Questions)
We did it, guys. We got through my personal wedding season and went through the entire story and came out the other side a little scathed but not too bad. That said, this week I'm ready to move forward and get back to regularly scheduled content which is why I asked you to ask me anything BUT wedding questions, and y'all delivered! I'm talking about pregnancy, health ruts, first dates, lifting for beginners, and Zac and I's approach to home decor. I also recap Thanksgiving week and review All Quiet On The Western Front (movie), Welcome to Chippendale's (show), and Fleishman Is In Trouble (show), and obviously go off on a few tangents because of course. 39. Tutto Bene! An Italian Honeymoon Recap
OMG hi. It's been so long—a month, to be exact. Since we last spoke, I've gotten married, went on an epic honeymoon, and changed my last name on all social media platforms (haven't gotten around to the real deal just yet). Today's episode is the longest one yet because, when you travel overseas for two weeks, you surprisingly have a lot to say about it! I recap our entire honeymoon in this episode from Sicily to Rome and everything in between. I go over all the highlights, the very few lowlights, and also give information about the travel agency we used to make this trip happen. PLEASE be sure to check out the accompanying blog post I put together, too—it has all the links and names of everything, so you can use it as a resource in case you're planning an epic Italian vacation any time soon.
I also discuss what I've been reading/watching/listening to lately upfront because there was a lot more to cover there than I expected!
Hope you enjoy this long-winded episode! Ciao!

We had a blast recording this and hope it holds you over through the next month. Next time we talk, I'll be a Mrs. and giving you a full recap of our Italian adventure. In this week’s episode, I give a full recap of my sister’s 5-day visit to Dallas including restaurant and coffee shop reviews (some good, some really bad), lots of family time, new piercings, and more. I also share my thoughts on my new favorite clothing line (Aritzia), book #3 of the ACOTAR series as well as why you should start the series yourself, talk about what I’m going to read next, and give some movie and TV show reviews! If they check off every other box on your "perfect partner" list but the physical aspect isn't exactly what you've always dreamt of, is it worth it to stick around and explore or should you cut and run? On this week's episode, I'm answering a listener email on this topic plus another about when to tell a new dating prospect you're divorced. Of course, you will get a full Labor Day Weekend rundown of how we spent our time including accidental drunk evenings, new places to eat and drink in Dallas, and the typhoon that came out of nowhere and had us pivoting plans. Plus, some wedding and honeymoon chit chat as well as thoughts on House of the Dragon, Rings of Power, and season 8 of Alone.

Me and weed just don't mix and yet, I keep trying. On Friday night, I took a 10mg Delta 9 gummy without realizing what I was doing and suffered the consequences* (*the worst high of my entire life that took me days to recover from). Numb body, heightened senses, a mind going at 100MPH, and insisting I go to the hospital are just a few of the worst moments. In this episode, I'm sharing a breakdown of my shitty history with Mary Jane, WTF Delta 9 actually is, and why no one should take it. Well, it finally happened. After escaping it for nearly 2.5 years, the 'Rona finally got me. I'm talking about how it all went down, what the last 5 days have been like, and ALL the shows I've watched because there's been A LOT. If you don't want spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty, definitely skip the last part.
30. Wise Words From Our Listeners
What is the single best piece of advice you're ever gotten? Something so profound it changed the way you operate day-to-day? That's the question I asked my listeners this week and boy, did they deliver! This week's episode is the usual BS about what's been going on lately (see: WEDDING PLANNING TRIGGERS EMMA), reflections and thoughts on the Netflix series MAID, and a whole bunch of incredible advice for you to soak up straight from the minds of your peers. Grab a paper and pen because these nuggets of wisdom are definitely daily mirror affirmation worthy!
29. Whole-Ass One Thing; Half-Ass a Million More
As the great Ron Swanson once said, "Never half-ass two things; whole-ass one thing." What he didn't know is that it feels impossible as a content creator with 1,000 irons in the fire at any given time. I start today's episode with a little BTS into my "busy brain," then dive into what's been going on the last few weeks since we spoke, my trip to Tulsa with my best friends, and a lot of small changes with the wedding that have me realizing some things about myself. I end with two listener advice questions that cover interfaith marriages, how to deal when your partner is prone to depression or mood swings, and whether or not negative AirBnB reviews are ever worth it.

If you had told Emma 2.5 years ago that she would get her fiancé to do a podcast episode with her, she would've slapped you and sobbed dramatically. Alas, here we are! Zac—better known as "Z" to her audience—is in the closet this week and talking all things life, work, and the pursuit of turning 40. This is a special episode. You'll get to know Zac from his POV and learn how someone so private ended up with someone so public and how, somehow, it's really worked out for them both. EZ for life, baby!
23. Vacation's All I Ever Wanted
Emma is back from a 10-day summer vacation and is giving you the full download on it all. Her and Zac started in Miami and made their way to Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Orlando, Jacksonville, Savannah, and Charleston and she, of course, has a million little memories and stories to share from each spot (including epic rollercoasters, amazing food, and stomach situations that will haunt her dreams forever). She also talks about finishing season 2 of Hacks in two sittings, the Anthony Bourdain documentary, and how she *finally* finished the book she’s been reading for two months! Sit back, relax, and enjoy this supersized episode.

21. It Ain't Small If There's A Texas Roadhouse (with my BFF, Whitney)
After a 6-year hiatus from their original podcast, "2 Girls, 1 Closet," Emma is joined in her closet by her best friend and #1 confidante, Whitney. It's an hour of quick trips down memory lane, getting to know who Whitney is and why she is who she is, a million different side convos and, at the end of it all, just two best friends doing what they do best—chatting. We hope you love and enjoy this episode as much as we loved recording it! Links in show notes.

20. So, You Wanna Be A Freelancer
Besides her usual breakdown of her goings-on, this episode is all about freelance writing and working for yourself. How to do it, when to do it, what to do when you do it, etc. Emma talks about taking the leap, finding clients, getting your name out there, rates ($$$), client boundaries, and how to keep your cool when work is slow. She ends the episode with a listener question about antidepressants, so stay tuned and check the show notes for everything Emma mentions!

18. Pettiest Pet Peeves | Vol. 1
Couples who sit on the same side. Saying you “read” an audiobook. Looking cute but not receiving recognition for it. Influencers using current events to post glam selfies. This week, Emma asked her listeners to write in their *pettiest* pet peeves, and they delivered. Listen in to weigh in, and also hear all about Emma’s past week including getting sick, opening a pseudo daycare in her home, and some insanely good ice cream in Dallas everyone needs to try, like, yesterday. Also, her unbridled review on Heartstopper and her new, undying love for Kit Connor.

17. Men: Can't Live With Them, But We Do
Well guys, she did it. Emma finally wrote an actual episode outline so she could provide both her typical updates and also focus on a certain topic. Today's category? Moving in and living with your partner. This month marked a year since independent Emma moved in with Zac, and she's sharing her various reflections on it as well as answering specific listener questions about the process. She covers how they split bills, his and her pet peeves, how they handle household chores, what to do if you're in a "roommate rut" phase, pooping under the same roof, tackling different sleep schedules and more!
