ABOUT ALICE  

I have been with YogaBellies since September 2017. I have a diverse background prior to YogaBellies which includes working in museums to retail management then finally qualifying as an accountant at a big financial services firm, and leaving once I had my first child. I trained and launched YogaBellies Chilterns, now Yoga With Alice D during my first maternity leave. I have since had two further children and have navigated this, alongside covid, and transitioning from a franchisee to licensee with YogaBellies. I taught one pregnancy and women’s class initially and then expanded to mum & baby. I then added a further pregnancy class and started Nurture baby massage. I teach in Wendover, Halton and Tring in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

This year I am running monthly Friday Flourish evening retreats for women who can’t commit to regular classes or want to explore our monthly class themes further through movement and the mind.

Approximately 70% of people who experience migraines are women, and often these are connected to certain times in their menstrual cycle - more specifically around menstruation. . Women are 3 x more likely to get migraines than men and research shows that almost 12% of women experience menstrual migraines at some point in their lives.

A ‘menstrual migraine’ is one type of migraine seen a lot by women. Other types of migraines are aura, migraine without aura and chronic migraine. Although you may be ‘lucky’ enough to suffer from all of these! There are also ‘menstrually related migraines’, which is when you can get migraines at any time of the month but your menses is also a trigger for more migraines.

Why Do They Happen?

When women suffer migraines, it's often related to changes in the levels of estrogen. Levels of estrogen drop immediately before the start of your period and may continue through the first few days. This kind of migraine mostly occurs during or after the time when the female hormones, estrogen and progesterone, have dropped to their lowest level.

Menstrual migraines are triggered by the drop in estrogen levels whereas other migraines can be triggered by a whole load of reasons such as stress, forgetting to eat, too much caffeine, or something else. Things like starting new hormonal birth control or using HRT during menopause can also trigger migraines, so if you’ve just started one of these treatments it could be worthwhile speaking to your doctor.

What is YogaBellies?

YogaBellies offer yoga classes and ethical products for women at every stage of their lives, including pregnancy and post-partum with baby. Our yoga is not just for pregnant ladies, it’s for all women and we have clients as young as 14 and old as 100! We offer yoga for women from menstruation to post menopausal.

What Do We Offer?

Time and time again when we speak to YogaBellies clients, we discover that we all pretty much want the same things from our lives:

Our classes incorporate traditional yoga asanas (postures); self-hypnosis and deep relaxation; unique YogaBellies touch therapies and often beautiful songs and games, if the baby comes too. We believe in fully embracing our children and family into our lives and our yoga practice. We're not just about pulling some shapes on a yoga mat, we help you incorporate yoga into every aspect of your daily life.

Some people may try to tell you that email marketing is dead but don’t believe them. From the dawn of the internet, building an email list has proven to be a vitally important way to stay in touch with your customers, clients, and prospects.

We’re going to walk through some strategies for adding new subscribers to your yoga business mailing list in the next 30 days. I highly recommend taking notes so that each step builds upon the last. However, don’t get overwhelmed thinking you have to implement these all at once! Every one of these strategies work, both alone and in conjunction with the other methods, so begin with the strategy that resonates with you most, then branch off and try the other methods after your first opt-in is in place.

“If the EMPOWER 300-Hr yoga teacher training is taught online, how does that work??”

This is actually a great question and one I get asked regularly. What you also need to realize is that not all online yoga teacher trainings are created equally.

'Online' training can mean a lot of things.

Having had some pretty deplorable 'online' training experiences myself, I wanted to make sure the EMPOWER provided as much as an in-person training BUT with the added benefits of having lifetime access to the resources and access them in your own time.

How is EMPOWER delivered?

THE EMPOWER PLAN

At the beginning of your training, we identify what you really want from your life - personally and professionally - and we use this as a guiding tool to make sure you get exactly what you need from the training.

LIVE AND INTERACTIVE

EMPOWER combines live (or live online) training and guest experts (including Cardiologists, Weight Management Specialists, Physiotherapists and Female Sexuality Coaches); live mentoring sessions with myself and your Senior Yoga Teacher Mentor and daily interaction in our online forum. We're constantly interacting with you to make sure you're on track throughout the training and if you can't make a session you can access it later in your own time.

HANDBOOKS AND GUIDES

In addition to this, you have access to complete handbooks for each module; a full YogaBellies Asana Manual; adaptions for each female life stage and condition and more.

ONLINE LEARNING

We provide multiple YogaBellies class videos; hours of lecture and asana break down videos, all of which you have lifetime access to. We even give you my hormone-balancing recipe book and meal plans for you to use throughout your EMPOWER journey!

ASSIGNMENTS AND ASSESSMENT

If you wish to gain accreditation, there are various criteria including: Practice teaching and video submissions; online exams; Keeping a yoga practice and menstrual/moon cycle log; a reading list and working on your EMPOWER plan.
