Episode 18 - Finding a New Perspective with Bruce Wilson of Sunday Morning
Welcome to Episode 18 of Your Hearth at Home! If you have been enjoying this podcast offering so far, please take a moment now to rate, review and subscribe! It makes a huge difference for me and I would so appreciate it! Today I have the pleasure of speaking with Bruce Wilson. He is the mastermind behind the wide reaching musical project called Sunday Morning. This Vancouver-based band is refreshingly experimental, complex and authentic, just like Bruce himself. But in this episode, Bruce steps away from the band and shares more about his personal spiritual journey, which has brought him to where he is today. He speaks openly about his quest to come home, both to home in terms of a place to live, as well as home in terms of his internal sanctuary. Bruce shares about his struggle with drug and alcohol addiction, his move through addiction into sobriety, and how the Sunday Morning project came to be as a result of this work. I mention this in the podcast, but one the things I love about speaking with fellow addicts in recovery is how much we get to laugh, and this episode with Bruce is no exception. In this episode you get to be light-hearted about the heavier issues. So please, get comfortable, sit back and I hope that you enjoy! It makes a huge difference for me and I would so appreciate it! Today I have the pleasure of speaking with Jayne Karma Lamo. She is a neurodiverse multi-instrumentalist and End of Life Doula from Maple Ridge, BC. As a trigger warning, we do speak a lot about death and dying in this episode, so please know that going in. However, speaking about this topic with Jayne is so refreshing because she comes at it with an open mind and an open heart, illuminating the shadows that creep in when we leave this topic untouched. She speaks to so many important considerations that are present for her in her work as an End of Life Doula, and how she combines this with her passion for music to be of utmost service to her community. Ep. 15 - Coming Home to Yourself with Shannon Brundrett
Welcome to Episode 15 of Your Hearth at Home! Today I am excited to be speaking with Shannon of Ceiba Tree Yoga; she has been a practitioner of yoga for over 20 years, a teacher for over 10 years, and is continually engaging in additional education, especially around how the practice of yoga can be trauma informed and accessible for a wider range of practitioners. Today  – as was voted on by the From the Hearth Collective on Facebook –  Shannon and I chat about anxiety. Shannon shares about her experience  with trauma and how her asana – or her yogic movement practice – has  helped her progress on her healing journey on many different levels –  from where she started with a more rigid regime to now a very soft and  invitational flow. She also shares other tools that she employs around  anxiety, and how she creates space to tune into being safe in the body,  our intuition, and to what actually serves us in each moment. Check out Shannon and Ceiba Tree Yoga here: https://ceibatreeyoga.ca/ And  let me know how you are enjoying the episodes so far! Do you have  someone you want to hear in this space? Ep. 14 Part 4 - A Dive into the Past with Ali Olshan
Welcome to Episode 14, Part 4, of Your Hearth at Home! *Trigger Notice - Incidents of Violence, Verbal and Physical Racism* This is the final part of Ali’s story, so if you have not yet heard the previous three episodes, I encourage you to do so to provide context to where Ali picks up his story now. As a brief reminder, at this point Ali is now a legal refugee in the US and has just moved away from his original host family and into his own room in an Evangelical home. It is this personal space that provides him with stable peace and quiet for what seems like the first time since he was eight years old. In the silence he finds the practice of detachment from his pain, creating space in his being for study and to engage in practices such as gratitude and working with affirmations, while noticing the Law of Attraction at work in his life. He continues going to Church, working in the chainsaw factory and at his cleaning job, as well as working with computers on the side. It has been so humbling to experience Ali’s story, and to witness him stepping up in his own healing journey and in yours through sharing his experiences and wisdom with you. May be inspired to never give up, to understand how every experience is truly for you, and to transform out of victim mindset, maintaining growth mindset through the worst of times. Please note that there will be no episode released on August 10 so that you may take the week to catch up with Ali's story! Ep. 14 Part 3 - A Dive into the Past with Ali Olshan
Welcome to Episode 14, Part 3, of Your Hearth at Home! *Trigger Notice - Incidents of Violence, Verbal and Physical Racism* If you have yet to listen to the first two parts, I encourage you to do so, to provide context to where Ali picks up his story now. As a brief reminder, he has made it to the US on a work Visa as a cook at a summer camp. On his first day it was clear that he did not have the skills or training that he had indicated on his application, and so he was facing being sent back to Ukraine after all that he had done to make it to the States. Understanding logically that he couldn’t run for it, he came up with an idea to be of service to the camp in a different way, by delivering food to the tables so that parents and campers didn’t have to walk for their food – as inspired by the idea of a drive thru – something Ali hadn’t experienced prior to arriving in the States. It was this innovation that saved him from being sent back to Ukraine, and gave him the chance to pursue his application to claim refugee status in the US. Ep. 14 Part 2 - A Dive into the Past with Ali Olshan
Welcome to Episode 14, Part 2, of Your Hearth at Home! *Trigger Notice - Incidents of Violence, Verbal and Physical Racism* If you have yet to catch Part 1, I encourage you to do so, to provide context to where Ali picks up his story now. As a brief reminder, at this point Ali and his family have just been deported from Germany where they had claimed refugee status, back to Ukraine from where they had fled due to extreme encounters with racism after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Ep. 14 Part 1 - A Dive into the Past with Ali Olshan
Welcome to Episode 14, Part 1, of Your Hearth at Home! *Trigger Notice - Incidents of Violence, Verbal and Physical Racism* This week’s offering is going to be different than what you’re used to on this show. This week we have the pleasure of hearing Ali Olshan’s story. To give you a preview, Ali was born in the Soviet Union to black and white parents. He escaped racism in Ukraine, crossing borders undocumented and claiming refugee status four times in Germany and the United States. He is now a permanent resident living in the US with full status, and is a proud US Patriot. I first connected with Ali indirectly through a mutual friend, and we instantly clicked. He was ready to tell his story, and I was so grateful to have the opportunity to listen. When we connected, I shared with him what this show is about: self love, coming home to self, growth and healing. And within this context, he was drawn to speak to moving out of victim mindset, and how much healing and growth can come from this. His story and his path – as you will hear - has been filled with rejection and trauma, and it is so inspiring to hear all that he has been through, and where he is now, through shifting out of that victim mentality time and time again. So I invite you to join me on Your Hearth at Home’s first series. This whole series was recorded in one take; Ali spent over three hours recounting his experiences and journey. I want to start by honouring what it takes to revisit painful experiences, and the gift of sharing this wisdom that it may help and inspire others on their path. One chapter of Ali’s story will be released every two days, for a total of four episodes. So please, settle in and listen to a story of strife and triumph. Let Ali take you on a journey, to experience what it was like to walk his path, from consistently living in survival mode to a spiritual awakening. Find Ali here and send him love! https://www.facebook.com/aliolshan https://www.instagram.com/alifun/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbQl7DxoV-_F3jV-uCBxmKw And let me know how you are enjoying the episodes so far! Ep. 13 - Faith to Belief with Brooke Robichaud
Welcome to Episode 13 of Your Hearth at Home! Please note that this episode was recorded prior to the Black Lives Matter and Amplify Melanated Voices uprisings, which is why they are not discussed in this conversation. If you are one who is (un)learning right now and are looking for resources, please be in touch with me via the social media link below. Today I am excited to be speaking with Brooke Robichaud of Seek Purpose; she is a fellow podcaster, entrepreneur and someone I am grateful to call a friend. In this episode, Brooke shares her story, from growing up in a state of not feeling wanted, to finding her only tool for filling in these gaps in her inner landscape to be drugs and alcohol. She shares about moving through addiction and into sobriety, and how this journey has taken her to confronting places of facing many unknowns, with the beauty being that now she is moving into a space of embracing this discomfort, knowing that she is ‘leveling up’ as she puts it. Brooke tells us about how Seek Purpose was born, and about how she continues to peel back layers of healing and growth both in that space of business and in her personal life. Ep. 7 - Integration after The Great Pause with Angela Prider aka Little Bird
Welcome to Episode 7 of Your Hearth at Home! I am so grateful to be back after two weeks of being muted in response to the Black Lives Matter and Amplify Melanated Voices Movements. Please note that this episode was recorded prior to these uprisings, which is why they are not discussed in this conversation. I take full responsibility for not having these conversations sooner. I continue to do the work and commit to continuing to amplify melanated voices using my unearned privilege. If you are one who is (un)learning right now and are looking for resources, please be in touch with me via the link below. Today I am very excited to be speaking with Angela Prider aka Little Bird of West Coast Shamanic; she is a Spiritual Teacher, initiated Spiritual Healer and Shamanic and Somatic Practitioner, based in Port Moody, British Columbia. Angela shares with us her path – how she was very connected to Spirit from a young age, moved through addiction as a young adult, and found her way through work with Shamanism, somatic healing, Kundalini Yoga and sacred plant teachers. She really dives into the COVID-19 situation as it currently stands, and shares amazing teachings and resources about how to move through an initiatory experience – such as a global pandemic and this Great Pause – with ease. Angela talks about harvesting the gems of the learnings, so that you may move into integration, only going back to the practices you want to, and leaving behind those which you have discovered didn’t truly serve you. This difference between digestion and integration was truly a profound distinction for me. Welcome to Episode 3 of Your Hearth at Home! Today I have the absolute pleasure of speaking with Aaron William Daniel Huey, a Men’s Mentor and Life Coach. As a Carpenter of 17 years, he shares with us his transition from being on the tools, working his way up to site manager on the jobs, and the wake-up calls which eventually led him on a different path. Ep. 2 - Everything is Energy with Ashleigh Mareah
Welcome to Episode 2 of Your Hearth at Home! Today I have the absolute pleasure of speaking with Ashleigh Mareah, a Psychic, Medium and Energy Shifter. She shares with us the role that she can play in bringing people guidance and clarity as a connection point between the physical and non physical world. Ashleigh also sheds light on energy: what a blockage is and how to tell whether an energy – such as a feeling or voice in your head – is yours or not. She tells us about how she followed her breadcrumbs - the interests that led her down the path to where she finds herself now, expanding on how she became aware of her gifts and the ups and downs along the path as she came to fully trust and understand her power. At the end of the podcast, she shares with us a brief taste of a Drop In, an Offering of hers designed to bring people out of their heads and into their hearts, to remember why they do what they do. Ep. 1 - Numerology, Mindset and the Lens of Perception with Danny Dang
Welcome to Episode 1 of Your Hearth at Home! Today I have the pleasure of speaking with Danny Dang, a Transformative Mindset Guide, Intuitive Numerologist and Medicine Man. Danny starts by talking about how he first was able to bridge the gap between his then reality and the spiritual- or self-development path through the use of Numerology, appealing to his analytical mind. Strap in for his demonstration of ‘Digit Bits,’ where he shows how he channels small messages from Source through numbers guiding himself or his clients back into the present moment, refreshing mindset and taking back power through radical responsibility. He also shares about the idea of the Lens of Perception - how we all see through this lens that is crafted by our conditioning and past experience, and that once we acknowledge this, we can come to better understand and accept ourselves and others. Danny closes with sharing his simple yet powerful strategy for present moment awareness as a means of nourshing oneself, which everyone can employ, even while washing the dishes! Ep. 0 - Context and Connection with Tara
Meet your host! My name is Tara😊 Join me for a walk as I share a bit about my journey. We touch on trauma, alcoholism, jarring vs. subtle healing, and the pure magic that came when I started investing in myself. I talk about my humble beginnings with my part time side-hustle Red Cedar Studio, and how that blossomed into the business that I am so grateful to run today. You will even be serenaded by an ice cream truck at one point!🤣 My message: you don’t have to hit rock bottom to come to the healing/spiritual development/self development path. You are worthy and capable of living the life of your dreams! My intention: that you hear this message before you’ve ventured to rock bottom, so that you can come to a space of joy, happiness and bliss sooner. So much love to you 🙏 Tara PS Let me know how you are enjoying the episodes so far! Do you have someone you want to hear in this space? Do you have a question that you are looking to have answered?
