Vol. 10 of The Vast Library of Sound is back with a Classic Nero Wolfe mystery: “Disguise For Murder”. An actual Nero Wolfe book by Rex Stout come to life in a Sounds Like Radio Special Presentation! One of my favorite detectives is here with a radio adaptation of Rex Stout’s story. I’ve read all the books now you can hear the radio shows. “Disguise For Murder” can be found in the Rex Stout Nero Wolfe book “Curtains For Three”. Do yourself a favor and read it in the "Curtains For Three" book after you hear it!

And as always some really neat music as Your Humble Host features Detective TV show background music all the while Shirley Bassey loves her diamonds (a new great mix here), Arthur Tracy wonders where, Julie London tells us of her best friend, Frank Fontaine (Crazy Gugenheim) likes a new wedding ring, Bing Crosby is around the corner & Billie Holiday doesn’t know whether she wants furs or violets. It’s detective time with classic detective music and Robert Mitchum himself sings how to pick a wife, Jo Stafford loves the autumn, Orson Welles displays what he knows of life, Bob Manning sees a change, Blossom Dearie’s wings, Bing Crosby’s haunted heart & even Roy Orbison tells us what not to do when you’re a detective in a haunted house. Another selection from your Humble Host's Vast Library of Sound, this is Vol. 8. On November 18, 1974 I was there to record this classic Jean Shepherd radio show just for you (little did I know at the time). Jean Shepherd, narrator and author of Christmas Story the movie, well long before that diversion Jean Shepherd was only The best radio story teller around. Jean Shepherd was at his very best when he was on the radio. Today I have another sample for you of a Shep show with a great story I first recorded in 1973 and then again on 11/18/74 and now it's your turn to experience Shep doing what he did best, not movies or TV, but radio.
