Vol 163 Great Gildersleeve Butters Up Bullard

Vol 163 Great Gildersleeve Butters Up Bullard

Your Humble Host is here with Volume 163 of Sounds Like Radio! Today we find the Great Gildersleeve trying to help Marjorie & Bronco get a $2000 loan to finish construction on their house. Where to go? Ahh, how about Bullard, he's loaded BUT wait a minute Bullard and Gildy can't stand each other. Now that's what I call a flaw in the slaw with this plan.

But somehow or another Your Humble Host and his buddies here will come up with a solution. Why to help cogitate on this we have Rosemary Clooney (as seen in our picture with this show displaying all her goodies she has to offer to get Bullard to come to Gildy's house) also with us are Burl Ives, Dinah Washington, Bing Crosby, Peggy Lee, Ink Spots and Jimmy Durante. With this brain trust we just gotta come up with an idea for Marjorie.

LOS 267 Quiet Please Picture Taken-Mystery Man

Your Humble Host wisks you away from all this New Year frivolity and takes you to a quiet place. The Library of Sound (LOS) Volume 267 brings you a weird one from Quiet Please entitled "13 + 8". Here's the low-down, somebody's gonna jump, see, news photographers gather, a guy gets in the way of their pictures and the cry of 13 + 8 goes out. What does that mean? Well, that's the yell that they customarily use when someone tries to get in a picture so they can be in the news. This warning lets all the photographers around to be on their guard for the photo-bomber as it's known today. OK, fine, only trouble is that the photo-bomber has disappeared from everyone's picture! Wha hoppen? as Ricky Ricardo would say. Quiet Please knows.

Today it's Christmas Day and the family is opening their Christmas presents. There's happiness and uh-oh there's also "trouble in the home" as our Lum & Abner friends say.

Gildy tries to smooth things over but for Leroy & Babs, his new girl, they are overjoyed with their gifts. Leroy got that Christmas tree selling job so he had money to splurge on Babsy.

Your Humble Host is also here to join in the festivities this Christmas with some really nice and fun Christmas time music for you. Grandpa will even be dropping in for a bit of cheer.

Christmas Music & Gildersleeve Special Vol. 10

Christmas Music & Gildersleeve Special Vol. 10

Your Humble Host is here with our 2nd new Christmas special this year, Volume 10! We've been listening to Great Gildersleeve's this year from 1951, following each week till lo and behold this month and December of 1951 were in sync. Gildy did 3 different Christmas specials in '51 and so we'll have 3 different Christmas Specials here too. This is the 2nd Christmas '51 show from December 19th of that year and the 3rd Christmas Gildy show of '51 will be on our 3rd Christmas Special Volume 11 & it's coming right around the corner.

Today we find Gildy wanting to buy his girlfriend Paula just the right gift. But what could it be? Gildy is inspired finally and knows. It's the traditional Christmas episode they did each year but every time they did it it was always just a bit different.

As with all of our Christmas specials Your Humble Host has some truly classic Christmas music for you and some you may never have heard before.

Merry Christmas to one and all and enjoy.
