Ep. 108: Completely Change Your Money Mindset

I am a work in progress when it comes to my money mindset. I am on a teacher’s income functioning as a single mom. Although very happily married, if you did not know, we do not live together (long story), and we do not share our incomes. At work, the people I work the closest with are married and live on 2 incomes. My parents and cousins are all super successful. I am super proud of them. They have worked hard to get where they are. They also chose different career paths, and had I done the same, I too, could be doubling what I make now, if not tripling it. I have had to work on my mindset because at times, I have gotten very negative about it. It’s totally on me. I am the only one who controls my thoughts, so I am fully to blame for any negativity that I have had towards money. It is very easy for me to get down on myself when I see people at work going out to lunch together and I never can. I rarely buy new clothes, my roots are showing most of the time, and my nails are never manicured professionally. I could keep going, but I, like I said, have changed my money mindset. I’m only telling you some of my negative thoughts so you can see how changing my mindset of money has changed. I was already a few years in as far as changing my mindset about money, but after reading this book, I feel myself changing even more.

Ep. 107: When You Feel Like You're Losing It

Ep. 107: When You Feel Like You're Losing It

Having a child go off to college causes the feeling of grief.  I’m thinking it just has to run its course I guess.  But there’s a twist. It feels like my son broke up with me, and I just really want him to like me.  The funny thing is, I know he likes me, in fact he loves me!  But all of a sudden he is on his own and busy with new friends (again a good thing) and classes and basketball that when I call, he is constantly rushing to get me off the phone.  He called once just to chat, and boy, was I on top of the world.  Seriously, though, it feels like I am grieving with a side of a break up.  I have been doing a ton of things just to keep myself from having to stop and cry.  Here's how I'm keeping myself from losing it...

Ep. 105: Change Your Life through Journaling

Ep. 105: Change Your Life through Journaling

If you have been listening for awhile, you have heard me talk about the importance of journaling.  I have been journaling daily for a few years now, and it has really changed my life.  I wanted to dive in and tell you in detail about how I journal exactly, because I came to the realization that I never really explained the type of journaling that I do!

See, journaling can be intimidating, even to me.  And just so you know, when I write in a journal, I am not writing on a blank page.  Oh no, now THAT would be intimidating.  I keep a blank journal on me at all times, especially at work, but that is for jotting down the millions of thoughts and ideas that run through my mind all day.  I think often people like the idea of journaling, but really don’t know where to begin.

In today's episode, I talk about the new journal created for busy people or for anyone who sees the value in journaling, but has been intimidated by staring at a blank page.  Look no further, and watch your life change with my brand new Create the Awesome Journal!

Ep. 103: The Lazy Girl's Guide to Losing Weight

Ep. 103: The Lazy Girl's Guide to Losing Weight

Today I want to talk about how I lost 7 pounds over the last 2 and a half weeks. It is a very big deal that I did this.  Here’s why:

I am the type of person who does not like to work out.  I don’t like diets.  I love bar food, fried food, homemade baked goods and so much more food that is super bad for you.  I love going out to eat.

I wonder if any of these character traits resonate with you?  If so, I bet you are wondering how I did it (and I kept it off and I am still losing).  Listen to this episode to see what I did.

Ep: 95 Combating Racism through Educating and Not Shaming

Ep: 95 Combating Racism through Educating and Not Shaming

Honestly, I don’t really enjoy talking about racism.  It’s a heated, emotional and personal topic for me, but  I’m going to do it in a hopefully light hearted nature.  I have this need to educate and not shame, and I’m concerned that if I don’t talk about it, the nagging feeling just won’t go away!

None of us are perfect.  None of us know everything.  I think we can all agree on that.  And I think many of us can agree that we don’t really like being divided.  I know I don’t.  I don’t really know why we are anyway.  I mean, this is supposed to be the United  States.  I cannot for the life of me wrap my head around the fact that we can’t still be friends and disagree.

In this episode, I make the attempt to combat many difficult issues in our nation currently through a little humor, educating and NOT shaming.

Ep. 86 The Books I'm Reading

I love reading, but kind of had to give it up because I don’t have time to sit and read.  The 3 books I’ve been reading, actually listening to on Audible, are the first book of Harry Potter and A Course in Miracles by Pam Grout.  I love listening to books while I drive or clean or cook.  It makes those tasks more fun!  And then I have been reading the actual book called “A Moment to Breathe” by several authors.  It is my morning devotional book. Listen to this episode to hear about how these books are impacting my mindset and my life!
