Diversion and Exclusivity - Yousuf's Adventures in Zebra Hunting

By Yousuf Khatib
In early March of 2020, right before lockdowns started to occur worldwide, Yousuf met two people in Ottawa who started him on a journey of understanding the Impact Economy. If Zebras, SDG's and Impact are as foreign to you as they were to Yousuf --> This is the place to meet, discuss and share ideas. As a proud supporter of Project K(in)D, I am looking forward to amplifying a message to encourage and track 1 Billion In Kind Actions! www.projectinkind.org www.globalskills.io

Meet Chris Rickett and Darryl Julott, two inspirational professionals leading ShopHERE; a City of Toronto and Digital Main Street initiative bringing Toronto’s independent businesses, artists and local retailers online. Chris Rickett is the Director of COVID-19 Business Mitigation and Recovery for the City of Toronto and Darryl Julott is the Senior Manager at Digital Main Street. The COVID-19 pandemic has made one thing clear: we need to get businesses online. When I heard about the ShopHERE program, I reached out to our pool of talented developers to help save Toronto businesses. Within 24 hours, 70 of our developers signed up to help mentor businesses to set up and maintain online stores. ShopHERE’s goal is to bring 3,000 businesses online by the end of August with the help of incredible partners Shopify, Google, Mastercard, Microsoft, Tabia, eBay, Facebook, Snapchat, Schulich School of Business, Scotiabank, Juno, Government of Canada, Magnet, Ritual, TruFan, General Assembly, BrainStation, Project K(IN)D, Tribal Scale, and eShipper. Listen to the fourth installment of “Yousuf’s Adventures in Zebra Hunting” to learn more about the ShopHERE program and the importance of bringing Toronto’s small businesses online. I challenge other CEOs to step up and to help! From the Frontlines of COVID19 - My Little Sis Dr. Aisha Khatib
Meet Dr. Aisha Khatib, a clinical director for a travel health clinic working on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic- who also happens to be my little sister. Since the early days of the COVID-19 outbreak, she had been providing me with up-to-date information as she experienced it firsthand. However, on March 13th, our usual phone call was different. Aisha described the lack of resources and personal protective equipment for healthcare workers and her prediction of the global impact that COVID-19 would have. I was concerned for my sister and the other healthcare practitioners and professions who were risking their lives to save others -- I knew that I needed to help. I decided the best way to help my little sister was to utilize our incredible pipeline of the world’s best tech talent to help those on the frontlines. A couple days later, my sister shared a Medium article about two physicians who were developing an open-source not-for-profit app called AskCo19.com. I reached out to them, and two weeks later, with the help of the best coders, developers, marketers, and translators from around the world, AskCo19 launched. Listen to the third installment of “Yousuf's Adventures in Zebra Hunting” to hear more about her  incredible work and to get a glimpse into working on the front-lines of the world’s current greatest challenge. Askco19.com: Spreading Information Faster than the Virus
Meet Dr. Ray and Dr. Roger Ng, two Physicians who taught themselves how to code as kids and co-founded Askco19.com -- an open-source communication tool for verified COVID-19 information. On March 15th, 2020, my little sister, Dr. Aisha Khatib, sent me a Medium article about two physicians who were building an open-source not-for-profit app called Askco19.com. It was envisioned as a free tool to help verified physicians crowdsource and share real-time information about their experiences on the frontlines of COVID-19. What started as a grassroots project quickly grew to a volunteer group of 300+ talented coders, developers, marketers, and translators from around the globe -- many of which were GSH tech talent. Listen to the second installment of “Adventures in Zebra Hunting” to hear more about the work of these two incredible physicians-turned-entrepreneurs, the process of developing AskCo19, and GSH’s contributions as part of the Project K(in)d #1BInKind Challenge.
