Internet Anonymity and the Negative Impact of Social Media on Teens
We are a group of High School Students from Delaware Valley High School that joined Youth Talks, a Podcast Club at our school sponsored by Youth Infusion. We get together every week to discuss topics we feel are important and want to bring awareness to. This episode is about the nature of internet anonymity, its effects on teens and the potential consequences that come from hiding behind an online identity. Each of us have our own perspectives as we engage in conversation about the negative impacts of social media on teens.

Thank you to Gary Cee for having Youth Infusion's Co-founder & Executive Director on his morning show, Pocono 96.7.
Elika Almeida is on a mission to touch as many kids lives as possible through Youth Infusion's programming such as their Youth Leadership Advisory Board and Youth-led Podcasting. We encounter tragic headline after tragic headline of school shootings, youth suicide and the struggles facing young people today and with the pandemic, this has become more evident. We believe that youth are assets to their communities and our mission is to provide those connections to their peers, parents, with other trusting adults and with their communities through confidence-buildling as they learn new things and apply it within their communities. Elika's aim is to give youth the social connection and sense of purpose that is missing in their lives, the absence of which fuels the continued rise in youth tragedies that we've been bearing witness to.
In addition, Elika talks about some of Youth Infusion's upcoming events, fundraisers and the need for funding to continue running these essential youth programs. She also points out that having partners in the community such as businesses and other non-profits is key to acquiring funding. She believes that when there is collaboration, everyone benefits and grows from it.
Listen in and get involved. Connect with Elika and Youth Infusion either by volunteering, donating or collaborating. WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER!

Episode 1 - DVHS: LGBTQ+ Community - Changing Minds and Hearts, an Interview with Dr. Catherine Thayer and her son, AJ
Going through adolescence can be a struggle for students for a multiple of reasons. Many students find it difficult to fit in or feel accepted by their peers. For students who may struggle with understanding their own identity, the hurdles they have to overcome can appear overwhelming, and the answers they seek can appear out of reach.
Two freshman, Paige Kurtz and Brandon Albaugh, from Delaware Valley High School in Milford, PA, recognized the need to educate others about the LGBTQ+ community and saw the value in sharing a member of their local community’s story about how he navigated becoming a transgender male. The Pocono area offers minimal resources and outlets where students and adults can find answers and receive guidance. The students met with AJ Thayer, a transgender male, and his mother Dr. Catherine Thayer, director of LGBTQPride, to discuss the Thayers’ journey and how the two of them help spread awareness throughout the community.
