23. “IF they break it... That’s fine!” With Pr. Eliasib Fajardo

Bio of Pastor Eliasib Fajardo provided by the Columbia Union. In 2001 Fajardo, a native of Mexico, received a bachelor’s degree in theology at Montemorelos University (Mexico). From 2002–07, he pastored three churches in the Potomac Conference: the Washington Spanish church in Silver Spring, Md., the Beltsville (Md.) Spanish church and the Oxon Hill (Md.) Spanish church. He was also the Hispanic Youth Ministries coordinator for Potomac from 2004–07.
In 2009 he received his Master of Divinity from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary (Mich.) and became the senior pastor of three churches: the Arlington (Va.) Spanish, the Metro NOVA Spanish church, also in Arlington, and the Sterling (Va.) Spanish church. While managing three churches, he was also the Hispanic Youth Ministries associate director for the Potomac Conference, and later the Camp Ministries director. His background in social media, videography and filming has prepared him for his new role, as, by God’s grace, he attempts to reach the young people in New Jersey.
“My goal is to live, love and serve God, as He did for me. My primary goal is to have a close relationship with Jesus and walk with Him,” says Fajardo. “I believe that wisdom comes from above in order to minister and empower others. I recognize that I should care primarily for my family, so they can also be ready to meet Him. I choose to imitate Him in whatever I do. Through my example and influence, I want to make people Jesus’ disciples. I have a strong passion to empower young people to share the gospel of Jesus.”
Fajardo and his wife, Yerusi, have three children.

11. "I'm in the mood to save souls" with Pr. Helvis Moody

Helvis C. Moody currently serves the Southwestern Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists as the Young Adult/Youth Director and Prayer Coordinator. A graduate of Andrews University Theological Seminary, he holds a Masters of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry, and is happily married to April Watkins Moody. His favorite Biblical passage is Philippians 4:13, which says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This text has been foundational to his ministerial career as he credits Christ’s strength in helping to grow each church he has pastored, either through baptisms or church facility growth. He began his ministry as a pastor for the Baton Rouge and Slidell, La. district in 1999 through 2004. He then served as a pastor at the Fondren Seventh-day Adventist Church until 2012, when he was called to the Southwest Region Conference to serve as its Youth and Young Adult Director. He joined the Southwestern Union in 2014. A believer in the power of prayer, he solicits your prayers as he continues to serve in ministry and prepares for the Second Coming of Christ.

10. "Because it's personal" with Rev. Virginia Ward

10. "Because it's personal" with Rev. Virginia Ward

Rev. Dr. Virginia Ward is a ministry leader with over
three decades of experience training youth leaders. She
has extensive experience as an urban pastor, ministry
organizer, and youth ministry expert.
Her debut book, It’s Personal: Five Questions You
Should Answer to Give Every Kid Hope (Orange
Books, May 15, 2019), is the latest title from Orange, a
book and church curriculum publisher focused on family
ministry, an environment where the church and family
work together to influence the faith and character of the next generation. Rev. Dr. Ward co-authored
It’s Personal with Orange CEO Reggie Joiner and Orange executive director of messaging Kristen
Ivy.
In a world where kids are known by a number on a jersey, digits on a carpool tag, and random
usernames, Rev. Dr. Ward explains the need for more adults who will stop and take the time to know
them personally. It’s Personal revisits the story of Zacchaeus and Jesus’ simple model for how to be
personal.
It’s Personal centers around the five questions every leader working with kids should be able to
answer: Do you know my name? Do you know what matters to me? Do you know where I live? Do
you know what I have done? Do you know what I can do? Taking the time to answer these five
questions for a kid or teenager could radically change someone’s faith -- maybe even that of the
adult leaders themselves.
Rev. Dr. Ward is an assistant dean at the Boston campus of the Gordon-Conwell Theological
Seminary, one of the largest evangelical seminaries in North America. She is responsible for
facilitating the development of leadership skills and managing urban collaborative field experiences
for students. Additionally, she is an assistant professor, teaching youth ministry, leadership, and
ministry development courses, along with providing spiritual formation support on the Boston
campus.
She has served in many other ministry organizations, including the DeVos Urban Leadership
Initiative, Black Ministerial Alliance, and as New England's black campus ministries director and
consultant for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Rev. Dr. Ward is also a keynote and workshop
speaker at various Orange speaking events and tours across the country.
A third-generation minster, Rev. Dr. Ward is an associate pastor at Abundant Life Church where her
husband of 33 years, Bishop Lawrence A. Ward, is the senior pastor.
She has a degree in management from Northeastern University, a master of arts in youth ministry
from Gordon-Cornwell Theological Seminary and a doctorate of ministry in emerging generations at
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She currently lives in Massachusetts with her husband and
is the mother of two adult sons, Paul and Mark. For more information, please visit

8."There is no normal" Introverts in ministry with Tanzy Chandler

Once when she was just four years old, Tanzy was taken to a music studio and given a choice. She could either learn to play the piano or, she could learn to play the drums. She remembers the excitement she felt when it came to playing the drums but she also remembers that when faced with a choice to be true to herself or play it safe, she chose her safety over herself.  She still thinks about playing the drums to this day but more than that, she thinks about all the other people who choose their safety over their truth.  Now she shares her truth, being transparent about her struggles with depression, obesity and balancing life’s responsibilities.  She committed to encouraging and empowering others to make their mental and physical health a priority. In short, Tanzy has dedicated her life to helping people really live.   Originally from Toronto, CA, Tanzy is married to Pastor Damian Chandler and together they have three children. She’s received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Puget Sound and is also a certified group fitness instructor.  Tanzy is also the CEO of Revamp Fitness where she shares her passion of health and wellness with her community.  As she serves, she draws strength from Jeremiah 1:5 which says “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.”  Tanzy believes that God entrusts us with who we are and expects us to use that for His glory.  She now wants more than anything to be her truest self… for Him. Ron is married to Betty Lou (Becker) Whitehead. Together they have three adult children: Stacy, Heidi and Ryan. Whitehead's hobbies include, but are not limited to, antique and classic cars, tournament ski boats, Christian drama like Passion plays, large events and business/ministry "investments." His favorite Bible text is John 14:1-3 because it reminds him not to "sweat the small stuff" because we are all just passing through, and that soon he will be together with those he loves. 52. "I wanted something that looked epic" comic books & ministry with Wayne Jamel

52. "I wanted something that looked epic" comic books & ministry with Wayne Jamel

Wayne currently works as a Pastor in the Greater New York Conference. Before becoming a pastor, he wanted to be an animator. Inspired by Disney and the Looney Tunes, he wanted to make and voice his own cartoon shows. He would tell stories to his younger brother and sister growing up and he wanted to adapt these stories into TV series. He also had a desire to produce Christian cartoons. Together with his brother they would draw comics, photocopy them, and pass them out in church. Wayne also made Christian comic strips for his high school and college newsletters. Now he desires to continue using visual storytelling to share God’s message.
