Navigating the Busy Culture While Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle with Lauren Mills
In this week's Waking Up from Breaking Up (WUBU) episode we interview my neighbour, Lauren Mills.
Lauren is a career-oriented person whose professional ambition and journey have taken her to numerous career endeavours but also shares the downfall of her ambition and busy lifestyle.
The busy culture is a paradox! It offers both benefits and drawbacks. On one hand, it can bring productivity, motivation, and a sense of purpose. But on the other hand, it can also have negative consequences on our well-being. The sense of accomplishment and the feeling of being engaged can provide a boost to our self-esteem and overall satisfaction. While busyness can be invigorating, excessive busyness can lead to negative consequences for our health. When we're constantly busy, we often neglect self-care, rest, and relaxation. This can result in chronic stress, anxiety, and even burnout. Our mental, emotional, and physical well-being can suffer as a result.

"This Is My World, This Is What I Was Patiently Waiting For" with Louise Gavin
This week's podcast episode explores the experiences of Louise Gavin who is part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community in Vancouver, specifically Vancouver Queer Irish (VQI). In the podcast, she talks about her experience of finding acceptance in herself when she found herself moving to another country.
For many LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, finding acceptance in a community can be a challenging and sometimes painful experience. It's not uncommon for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals to face discrimination, rejection, and even violence because of their identity. However, it's important to remember that every person has the right to be accepted for who they are. It's not up to others to decide who is or isn't part of a community based on their identity. Every person deserves to be recognized and respected for their authentic self.
One way to find acceptance in a community is to seek out spaces that prioritize inclusivity and celebrate diversity. Finding a community that values and respects your identity and experiences is important, and that is what Louise and the VQI are doing in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Another way to find acceptance is to connect with allies who can provide support and advocate for LGBTQIA2S+ rights and inclusion. Allies can also help educate others on the importance of acceptance and create more inclusive spaces within their own communities. Waking Up from Breaking Up is proud to be an ally of the LGBTQIA2S+ Community.
For those who are struggling to find acceptance, it's important to remember that you are not alone. Many resources and support systems are available to help you navigate your identity and find acceptance in a community. Being accepted for who you truly are is a fundamental human right. As a society, we must strive to create more inclusive spaces and advocate for LGBTQIA2S+ rights and acceptance. Waking Up from Breaking Up with Yra Jai
This is the last episode for Season 1 of Waking Up from Breaking Up (WUBU)!
The final episode reflects 20 years ago when the journey of Waking Up from Breaking Up originated. This process of self-growth and the inspiration for this podcast came from the lessons learned in my past relationship and the journey that happened to both my ex-fiance, Jaxon, and myself after our breakup.
Sometimes relationships hold us back without actually knowing it. This episode shares Jaxon's growth story in his career after our breakup. Our relationship was our comfort zone and safety blanket and once it ended, it gave us both an opportunity to change and progress in ourselves, especially Jaxon's career. It's not common, but our goal was to remain, friends, after we had broken up. We did the best we could, and at least we attempted.

Components of C.A.R.T. - TIMING with Jagtar & Kate
The twelfth and final component in C.A.R.T. is TIMING!
What does timing mean in healthy committed relationships? Timing in relationships pertains to commitment readiness. We all know that relationships take commitment. Committing to work through the rough times, because LOVE is NOT enough.
The truth is, there is never a perfect or ideal time to initiate a relationship. There are different reasons why we might not feel like entering into a committed relationship. Many say that if they are undergoing distressing circumstances in their lives, they cannot commit to someone else. And that makes perfect sense because readiness impacts behavior over various stages of building a relationship. What you should be striving for is to be familiar with the “baggage” that you will bring in the relationship.
Jagtar and Kate share their relationship history and how timing played a huge role in the progression of their relationship.
