Guest Bio
Yuko Torihara is a filmmaker, writer, actor born in Japan and currently based in NYC. She grew up living between Japan, the UK and the US, moving every few years with my family until I settled down in NYC in 2006. She grew up as an outsider looking into the various cultures in which she was raised and understood from an early age that the inherent ‘truths’ defined by each culture looks different depending on your vantage point, and that identity is by nature performative. 403 "Love+Live+Life" Podcast Zlaikha Y. Samad, Co-Author of "The Unseen Blossom" & "The Unseen Path"

In this episode, I invited Zlaikha Y. Samad, co-author of "The Unseen Blossom" & "The Unseen Path".

Bio & Message from Zlaikha, Zizi

Over the years, I was encouraged to write a book. I attempted countless times, but to no avail. The day I met my friend, I sensed an internal shift within me. A certain awareness or intuition, if you will, gave rise to specific scenes, ideas, and words. Soon after my unexpected connection with L’mere, he posed a question to me: “Have you ever seen a fig tree bloom?” He proceeded to tell me about the idea of the blossomless fig tree and his wish to write a book surrounding it. Intuitively, I knew that I was meant to co-write this book with him, but it seemed impossible because I was not an author. Unbeknownst to me, there was a novel waiting to be poured out of me onto blank pages. Hence, our first novel, The Unseen Blossom was born between us.

I am an Afghan-American born in Kabul, Afghanistan, and I came to the USA as a political refugee in 1981. I am lucky to be from an intellectual family of diplomats, writers, professors, physicians, travel enthusiasts, and peacemakers.

I am pleased to say The Unseen Path is my second venture into visionary fiction writing, as I am one of the authors of The Unseen Blossom. For the past two years, I worked heavily on the novel’s publicity process so that it can truly soar, and, all the while, wrote this gem of a book. It is somewhat difficult to explain, but the soul connection between L’mere and I is the driving force behind the creation of both books.

Our story can be passed down to awaken and strengthen one’s sense of humanity. This novel detail an invasion that led to chaos both in Afghanistan and in our world, weaved within a love story of two young souls.

Throughout this experience, I am most proud to be the mother of my wonderful daughter and brilliant editor, Madee. She is my heart.

402 "Love+Live+Life" Podcast - Crissa Constantine - Classical pianist, Cancer Survivor and an author of "Love and Accept Yourself Now"

402 "Love+Live+Life" Podcast - Crissa Constantine - Classical pianist, Cancer Survivor and an author of "Love and Accept Yourself Now"

In this episode I invited Crissa Constantine. She's a classical pianist, a cancer survivor and an author of "Love and Accept Yourself Now".

Bio and Message from Crissa Constantine

I was born in 1951 in Vancouver, BC, and was an only child. My parents were both refugees from Europe, and they needed me for emotional support just as much as I needed them. Mom fled from Estonia in 1944 and couldn't go back home for 47 years, until 1991, when the Soviet empire started dissolving. Dad was born in Smyrna (Izmir) in the Greek enclave on the Turkish coast, and had to flee to mainland Greece when he was only two because the Greeks lost the war against the Turks.

I was interested in many different subjects, so I got several degrees over the years, a BA and BMus from UBC, an MA in music from CWRU in Cleveland, and a BEd and M.Ed from LSU in Shreveport.

A lifetime of observations of human nature and history combined with my education has convinced me that there is not quite enough love in the world to create a happy and safe existence for us all. Most of us suffer from feelings of inadequacy and there is a profound desire for territory built into our genome. Stephen Hawking said he was worried about our future because of the greed and aggression in our genome, and Jane Goodall says there is a disconnect between our brains and our hearts.

What is an artist/musician supposed to do when faced with a world like this? I'm grateful I lived long enough to create my own style of piano music that is inspired by the beauty of Nature and I love to give benefit concerts for good causes. I gave a series of concerts in 2016 on Vancouver Island to encourage the scientists in Victoria at the Trev Deeley cancer research center as they do immunology research to help the body fight cancer with its own resources. I gave a concert in 2019 to raise awareness and funds for a Pakistani refugee family. My last book, Love and Accept Yourself Now, was written to help other people stand in front of a mirror and say, "I love you," to themselves. According to all the wise and learned people, including Wayne Dyer, you can't love others well until you learn to love yourself.

I hope to record my latest nature-inspired piano pieces and get them out online for free for anyone who needs to be uplifted. I would also like to make the last book available for free as an e-book.
